Fem seeds and there impact on the future of the species known as cannabis.

Yeah feminized seeds are like the transvestites of the cannabis world; you may not wish their extinction, but you wouldn't rent one a room in your house, even if he/she was a gorgeous Thai (well....some might):D

you mean in your opinion its the same thing ?

No I don't but by def if its intersexual its a mono specimen, I feel theres difs in intersexes ie varying types on the autosomes.. or dif triggers

but my thinking is if its intersexual its out, if its late nanners its a survival trigger I think!

thanks a lot for your answer, i understand much better now. after all, the majority of cannabis female plants are able to reverse their sex under natural stress induced or not in order to reproduce. but we can't classify all of them in the intersex category.
i don't get the autosome thing but i will work that...

to me its were the signal comes from the trigger to go intersexed, the less stable the easier to trigger.

ok so i have looked because i didn't know, autosome is a chromosome that is not a sex chromosome.
when you say stable do you mean the more heterozygous the better chance the line to reverse ?
(sorry for the bad english)

sorry the stability I refer to is the abilty to reverse/show intersex traits from triggers, I want the plants that are less susceptable than those that are susceptable, whether I'm wasting my time I don't know with cannabis being very labile.. I might be getting rid of an adaptive advantage!.

i get it :o .breeding is some sort of a quest in the end :) if i remember well, in the work of hortapharm, they looked for females who only reverse under chemical treatment, and selfed it in order to create high thc or high cbd lines. so the quest of a 'pure' or 'true' or 'strongly' females as its has been called is real and usefull, don't you think ?

Well I'm hoping they know more than me!

Found this interesting.

A word about "junk DNA".

The points I wish to make are: 1) Natural selection is an extremely conservative force. So long as a particular function is assigned to a single gene locus in the genome, natural selection only permits trivial mutations of that locus to accompany evolution. 2) Only a redundant copy of a gene can escape from natural selection and while being ignored by natural selection can accumulate meaningful mutation to emerge as a new gene locus with a new function. Thus, evolution has been heavily dependent upon the mechanism of gene duplication. 3) The probability of a redundant copy of an old gene emerging as a new gene, however, is quite small. The more likely fate of a base sequence which is not policed by natural selection is to become degenerate. My estimate is that for every new gene locus created about 10 redundant copies must join the ranks of functionless DNA base sequence. 4) As a consequence, the mammalian genome is loaded with functionless DNA.

"Because it is generally no longer applied in its original meaningful sense, because the type of DNA to which it actually relates now has a more descriptive name (pseudogenes), and because of its connotations of total phenotypic inertness, the term “junk DNA” should probably be abandoned in favour of less subjective terminology. “Non-coding DNA” serves this purpose quite well."

G`day Hempy
While I agree this has been an immaculate conception of sorts and I gave up on the bible around puberty . I think you need to be sure you are comparing oranges with oranges or plants with plants and not plants with mammals.
Though I did find it interesting that chemical reversal tech was being used in the same area as this spontaneous reversal took place . HMMM .
Thanks for sharin
Elmer Bud .

Imagine onlyfeminised seeds avalaible...

When all the seed bank will make Fem seeds, the gouvernements can stop seed production and all the "stupid growers" will become "non smokers;)"

Or than they can retake control of the plants avalaible by controlling reproductions to make 'low thc plants" etc...

We can also lose some species cause of breeding of fem seeds...

Use Regular ;) make seeds;) and spare it with your friends;) Best way to keep rich genetics alive;)

I think fem seeds are a foreshadow of micropropigation. It can be done. A ready to grow option does appeal to growers.

My 2 cents.

When talking, herbaceous annuals, who can mutate and adapt,in basically,a years time.I would have to agree with, the fact that female seeds,is a bad bad thing, but that is not to say, its not a good fast tool, risky, but a good tool.

But lets look at it this way.

From a diecious stand point, and the fact that its an annual.......!,and after all the thousands of years,of mans hand, screwing the plant up,.........! It is still diecious...WOW!!

Think about that, for a second, .... It should be Monoecious,by now.

But nope its only Hermaphrodital.

The male plant is so prolific ,in nature no matter how much , man screws with it! we cant tame it LOL!

So yes in away its a bad thing, if it wasnt such a strong plant, we by making /hermying,/ reversing, plants,

It would have already been messed up.

But yes as far as integrity gose, leave it the frig alone ,

Let him have his way with her, quit taking the cheap route.

What if you had 20 aces to plant? Fem seed would be good for that too. Im not an advocate of that but it may have a use in certain situations.
