100% Exodus Cheese

I'm much better, thanks for asking. Finished the antibiotics today and almost back to full fitness thank god, three weeks of being short of breath and feeling crappy gets on your wick after a bit.

On the Aero, never done it, but Cabron will be able to guide you, I have read that you need to run lower EC in aero as it's such an efficient delivery of nutes direct to the roots.

Weather here has been dry but cold, winter is here it seems.

Sounds like that pheno you had was close to the Exodus, which is rare from BB's version, most are much more Afghani looking.

Looking forward to seeing you run the aero. If you need any info I can ask an aero expert I know or ask Cabron, he's a good aero grower.

Denis is doing well it seems, I lifted the tree root to see if he was under there and he has excavated a ton more coco to make a burrow under there with three entrances/exits. Put in another cricket today but half killed it with the tweezers so not sure if he has eaten it or not, the cricket fell down the front entrance into his burrow while he was inside and not seen it since, maybe he thought 'oh yes, meals on wheels delivered to the doorstep' and chomped it right away or it's sat down in there dead. I'll check in a couple of days and remove it if it's just laid there.

Sounds good.. Once this gets running I will try and get his attention and ask him how things are going..

Every time you mention Dennis I feel a bit tight with ours all being stuck up in their tent. I want to get myself a tank or maybe even a few in the living room. It makes sense to have them to look at as well as breeding them. I might see what the missus says about it. I reckon she can get her mate to make some tanks that fit in our Ikea shelves..

Good luck with the aero, if ya get it right it outperforms all else.

I doubt the spiders mind being cramped in a tent, being simple animals I doubt they are too bothered as long as they are warm and fed. A living room setup would be nice, unless you have many friends who are scared of spiders!

Hey Doobz,
I've been using aero for all my cuts the last few years, best bit of kit I have, although I flower out in NFT tanks not aero.

Just a little tip that will save you time and money is that you don't really need rockwool cubes, just use the neoprene collars and you can leave the pump on all the time, the roots will grow faster too, promise.:)

The collars stop any light getting into the tanks as well as preventing fungus and they can handle a stretch through flowering too, so you've no worries with em.

Peace, GG

Hiya GG, thanks for the advice.. I am sure your right mate. The problem with the first lot of clones I took and put straight into the system were very woody. I tried to rush the mother plant to produce clones but somehow it made the stems very hard. Not like the nice soft clones I usually take.

I am gonna defo have another bash at it next time :)

Stay Cool,
Doobz

I had a busy evening tonight changing the grow-room round to get the system in.. What a mission.

I had to move the 9, 8 week old Cheese plants I have in there to the other side of the grow room then clean where they had been. Then get the aeroflo up there and move a few of the other bits round.

I will finish it off tomorrow night because I am nackered now.

Its looking good. There are a few things I need to figure out but I can do that between now and when the plants go in. They are things that don't affect the running of the system in any way.

I won a timer on that auction site and it will be here tomorrow. Its one of those ecotechnics precision interval timers so I am pretty stoked.

In the mean time the clones have been getting fed every now and then - I have been doing it manually so kinda sick of it now..

One thing is for sure is the root growth is phenomenal. From yesterday to today there has been a definite bursting of roots as you can see by the pics.

The Cheese Plants in the coco are nearly done. I checked them with the scope tonight and there are alot of milky pistils and still a few clear ones. There are now more towering calaxy's so they are not far off.. I think this time next week they can come down. I would make that exactly 8 weeks from when they went in :)

Just some Pics of the plants in the cloner 24 hours after going in

Looking good, I never got my one of them aero cloners to work properly so I went back to using the good old reliable DIY bubble cloner.

Those timers you got are very good, I was gonna bid on one, might have been the one you got!

I just picked up four 70W halide bulbs for a quid each and two 70w digital ballasts for 7 quid each. I bought two replacement hurricane lamp glasses for 1.49 each and a manrose 100mm inline fan for a fiver, I'm building an aircooled 140w lighting system to replace my dead 75W LED array in one of my veg cupboards. To try it out I'm gonna run some autos in one half while my bonsai mums occupy the other half. I'll do a thread on it shortly. I love ebay for getting stuff cheap.

Yep, there are some bargains to be had if your vigilant.

I have never thought of using lower wattage MH bulbs and ballasts before. I look forward to seeing what you do with them as I am still undecided what to flower the male I have chosen under. I was going to use PL-L fluro's but making the setup is a bit of a pain in the arse..

I've never used smaller than a 250 before so it's new to me too.

I have some PLL ballasts here if you need some, got more than I will ever need.

I was gonna use a pair of 36W PLLs cos I have the tubes and ballasts but could I find the bloody 2G11 sockets for em? I have four sockets somewhere, god knows where tho!

Hiya mate.. I have never used the actual PL-L fittings before.. This is how I make mine.. Maybe you can get yours up and running like this..

Flipping heck, what a fantastic idea! I have some PL-L tubes and the same ballast you are using. Some day we shall have to have a good chinwag, I bet we could teach each other a ton of tricks.

If you do need a ballast or two, let me know and I'll list what I have, I have all wattages and types knocking about.

Nice thread Doobz, plants look great too.
I have to agree with genegeenie about the neoprene collars for the aero cloner, reuseable and light proof.. I've used RW cube's in them too and that works fine also.. I use a home made aerocloner and it works a treat, It gives me the flexibility to alter (lower) the angle of the sprayers (once rooted) too, which i find produces better 'areo type' roots instead of NFT type roots, as they grow in the humidity rather than actual spray.
I'm sure you said somewhere that the PL bulbs produce more lumens than T5's? Is that right? However I love T5's and will be flowering with them again very soon...
Would love to see the aircooled mh's as well BH..
Well I'm off to get supplies now ready to start my T5 grow...
Peace
BL

You must be the same as me British_Hempire when it comes to Ballast and Fluro's. I stockpiled the Dual 55w Ballasts and Bulbs about a year ago because this fella on E-Bay was flogging them as Job Lots. I love growing with them.

I did a DIY how-to a few years back but it seems to not be here.. Weird. Maybe it was some place else.. Memory fails me!! I might do another revised version :)

I remember Matt got me onto this website that sells the fittings for most lamps etc.. I have not used them but if you needed to get the bits most are there..

http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/Light-Fittings/Lamp-Holders

The Precision Timer arrived this morning and I wired it up. Only after wiring it up I realized I am going to need it to be a bit longer to reach through the grow room. No biggie I can always re-do it. I have the timer set @ 1 min on and 4 off..

Thanks for popping in Billy. I don't disagree about the collars at all.. Its just the way the plants are sat in the cubes and net pots at the moment. thats why I have not used the collars.

Your setup sounds nice mate.. If it works then thats all that matters at the end of the day. I am all about keeping things simple.. Less variables to go wrong eh?

Yes as far as I believe they produce more lumens. Good luck with your fluro grow.

Stay Cool,
D

Aye, i picked up a load of ballasts off ebay cheap, I've built, dismantled and rebuilt my fluoro setups a load of times and have a cupboard full of tubes, ballasts, sockets etc.

Lampspecs is not bad, but I prefer the prices at National Lighting Components, I forget their precise URL now, lost all my bookmarks when my old PC died.

I am fairly sure that a PL-L is just a T5 in a different form factor, they use the same diameter tubes, frequencies and phosphors as T5s, the difference is the PL-L is single ended and the T5 is double ended. The 2 foot 24W T5s are great and they come in a load of colour temps, I like the 10000k blue ones for vegging, mix those with 6500K and you get lovely tight nodes.

My 70W halide ballasts arrived this morning, just waiting for the bulbs and fan to arrive then I can start building, if it doesn't work as well as I hope I'll replace it with either 4x36W PL-Ls or 6x24W T5s. One reason I wanted to use halides is you can now get them in a variety of colour temps and the 10000k, 14000k and 20000k aquarium halides intrigue me.

So still been cracking on with things this evening.. I cloned the Mt-Cook female and also took 10 Big cheese cuts incase I am not happy with the way the Mt-Cook flowers.

I also snapped some pics of the cheese. Its getting real hard to move round up there now so getting pics is kinda hard. These will have to do.

Then onto the Aero Plants. 48 Hours after they went in they have exploded.. I cant believe my eyes.. :p

All looking in order and healthy, good work.

What's nto so nice about the Mt Cook?

Bit drunk atm, just got home after rather large argument with the missus but will repsond in more detail tomorrow.

Ahh that sucks British_Hempire mate.. Hopefully you will patch things up with her. I am not really a fan of the booze. It makes people crazy.. I can only have one or two pints before I am on my ass so usually leave it out..

The Mount Cook is weird because I was expecting it to have very little stretch with the high level of indica in them.

I dunno whats going on but they are all really going for it.

Its possibly because I don't have much light on them that could be the cause but its something I don't really like in plants. I am not too bothered about the female really, its the males that I am concerned about as I wanted to choose one for my little breeding project but I don't want to use any of them if they are going to transfer this stretchy trait onto the already nice and uniform cheese.. I am tempted to see if Matt has any pollen kicking about from his Chronic..

Hope your head aint too sore this morning.. :)

Stay Cool,
Doobz

Well, she wants me to stop smoking herb so I might be giving her the elbow sharpish, take a very special woman to make me stop, maybe even then I wouldn't, I need my smoke to keep me calm.

I'm not a boozer, but I do like Jack Daniels and Coke or a nice bottle of red, I don't drink that often, too expensive, not good for ya and I hate being around drunken idiots, but I do find blowing off a little steam from time to time with a few drinks is good for me.

The light levels have a big effect on stretch, you could pinch the stems to slow down the elongation. Males ar usually stretchy, I look for the ones that are shortest and branchiest, males often don't branch and i always discard any that lack branching, I try to find really branchy ones that have similar overall morphology to the females, sometimes you don't find any like that and they are all lanky things with no branches.

Evening my fellow Mr.Nice Partners in crime..

Its been a nice day today. My football team won today so I can relax a bit now.

Just an update of some pictures as the Cheese is going to probably come down on Thursday. I am pleased with this plant as all in all it does not like it will produce such a bad yield as I expected it would.

The Plants in hydro are doing crazy Things. I think I am going to need to move them into the Aeroflo soon as the roots are getting HUGE

After topping and cloning the Mt Cook Fem she looks real respectable now rather then all stretchy. I have taken British_Hempires' selection advice and have a decent looking male that I am going to keep. I am not sure how long till the male will shed his load but they are still in the flower room. I need to get my finger out and get them into their own section otherwise I am gonna have pollen all over the gaff..

Here is the Fem I am keeping.
