El Niño ~ La Niña Comparison thread.

Beautiful plants, and great report, grat! :D

Lol, "Nobody doesn't like smoking LN." I can testify to that ;) Don't be afraid to drop off pix of the cuts that you select from time to time for us!! :D;):p:D

L33t, Pat, y'all notice your LN's change aroma and taste more than anything else as it cures? All of mine, though some more than others, have drastically changing smells at the different stages of the drying/curing process. The taste changes a lot too but not as drastic. All herb does it, pretty much, though I have a strain from Mendocino that is an exception, but I have never grown anything that was this drastic.

Any of my LN brothers and sisters get any of the really creamy tasting phenos? It is like those orange Lifesaver Cream Saver, or a Creamsicle. Really unique.

Fuck, I loooooooove this strain!!!

I encourage anyone who has their rooms and moms dialed in and producing to get a pack or two of these and start going through these looking for the ultimate head weed. I wouldn't suggest it if it as your only strain or first but once you have somethings that you know will yield this strain is worth going through. Even the lowest yielders are worth it (once) for the mental journey.

Dreamsicles

Any of my LN brothers and sisters get any of the really creamy tasting phenos? It is like those orange Lifesaver Cream Saver, or a Creamsicle. Really unique.

The Dreamsicle was the orange ice cream bar we got as kids which had that orange/cream goodness...never noticed this on my La Ninas...but had another Nevil's creation in a Jack Herer from the '90's that smelled exactly like the Dreamsicle...too bad Sensi's stature has declined, but was inevitable once 'the man' left.

Ronin-yo, I didn't do my LN f1's justice. I 'grower-errored' my way through 4 female seedplants, and managed to keep/get familiar with just 1 cut. The seedplants seemed to be on the stanky/spicy side of things for 3 of the plants, with the most sativa dom leaning way sweet/hazy. The cut that I kept is 'stanky/mango?/catpiss/haze'. Nothing sweet/smooth/creamy.

I know what you mean when you say 'creamsicle', though, as my ssh is a lemon creamy thing. It seems like most of the other plants that I've found to be heavy on the lemon have a fuel/astringent bite to em (same 'rider' smells/flavor effects as skunky plants, ime). 1 of my LN f2's (the one with the super wispy budstructure) had a 'creamy purple' taste to it.

It's clear by this grow that El Nino and La Nina are unrelated. I'm just wondering why Arjan doesn't sell Shanti's F2's if he wants us to believe he has the real deal.

Thanks to All! Sorry for the delayed responses.

Greetings Gents and thanks for the replies!

This comparison was done with the promise of a prize @ the end from a respected grower/breeder on my home forum. The whole thing was his idea and I want to give a shout out to Useless for carrying the torch so to speak. He's always reminding ppl about GHS ethics and authenticity (or complete lack thereof). I didn't expect to be this impressed by La Niña but trusted that the prize would be worth it. As it turns out growing/having La Niña in my cab is/was more than worth the effort of the comparison and if there were no prize at all, I'd still be thrilled! (there is still a prize but I'm just sayin...)

So now that I'm done doing back-flips of excitement ;-) Time for responses.

Shantibaba - Thank you for making this possible! I hope you feel the seeds you sent me were a good investment. I absolutely love this strain. I'm glad this thread will live on for others to see. Immense Gratitude to you for your work and integrity.

noshow - no worries on the "thread-jack", and thanks for the compliment.

L33t - Thanks man! Getting compliments from you on pics seems off somehow, thanks for the inspiration your pics provided while waiting for my plants to grow! Glad to hear that you think the description of the high is accurate:-)

jaybutta - Wow, um, I've never been given poetry for a grow thread before, I think I like it. I did spend some time trying to figure out if there was a reason you chose that poem specifically, was there a message I was supposed to pick up? Thanks man.

Skunkha - Cheers man, I do have clones of all 5, can't make up my mind. Don't have to yet;-) I don't have the space for breeding but that sounds like a fun project to be sure.

PatrickStar - I hope to do that when I run them next, I'll have them in bigger pots so we'll see what that does for the yield. Fun to know we've shared this experience of this special strain.

Ronin - No creamy pheno here, but yes as more time passes these jars keep changing. More skunk cabbage coming out. Slightly less citrus.
I totally agree with this statement.
"Even the lowest yielders are worth it (once) for the mental journey."

HHHG - Shh, don't give him ideas! j/k
You are totally right, no relation. Shanti said it well a few post back.
"GHSco version of female El nino is nothing to do with Haze what so ever...that is clear and people need to be informed of what they sponsor when they buy into a company."

Thanks for following along and for the words of encouragement!
This really is a quality forum and I hope my thread is seen as a valuable contribution.

All the best in your growing endeavors!

Gratitude.

P.S. If you are reading this and haven't already, you should go buy some La Niña seeds and grow them, you'll come back and thank me for the tip.

hi gratitude

I have to say once again this is an excellent MNS LN vs GHS EN comparison thread

Wish there were more threads like this online so more people could actually see and read what the original strains are capable of and how great the differences can be between hacks and the real deal..

If you have an account over ICmag(one of the biggest canna sites) it would be nice if you could post the results in both the MNS and GHS subforums for growers to see for themselves. Great job again and smoke some LN for all of us that don't have any LN buds left in our jars hehe ;)

Thanks for sharing your experiences , now its time to enjoy the fruits of your labor ;)

Yes the poem was quite random...:o

I found your thread inspirational...the poem is one of my favorites...to me, it's about having someone's back...it's about loyalty, respect, and duty...I'm not sure I realized the value of a comparison thread until I read yours...I believe this serves all Joe Growers around the world...it says what GHS cannot...well done...jay;)

I really enjoyed this thread, just went through it from page one.

I love La Nina, I grew it nearly a decade ago and I can say that your plants are the same as what I had, clearly the strain is the same now as it was back when it was a new breed.

The El Nino, well, a sad indictment of what GHS has to offer.

My only criticism would be I think you could have let the La Nina go a bit longer, but you did a very nice job.

This is a great thread and a perfect example of how to document a grow.

Thanks b_h your compliments are appreciated and your criticism valid.

I'm actually just now getting to end of my La Nina clone grow, #13 turned out to be the winner. I'm letting them go longer this time... they are @ 9 wks now and another week or 2 will be good.

A friend with a much bigger space grew clones of all of them and loved them, he was running a pair 600s and even though he topped them a few times they finished about 5ft tall in 3gal pots (soil). The cola's were all bigger than 1lt bottles. He had spider mites though so they didn't come out as well as they could have. #7 showed good mite resistance.

La Nina is still far and away my favorite strain I've ever grown and someday, I'll likely get another pack and look for another super pheno. Thanks to you all... and may your plants be happy!

You know, I didn't like to use the word criticise as it sounded negative and I didn't see anything to be negative about, just a very minor nit-pick. The only negative I saw was the El Nino and that wasn't your fault at all, just shitty genes, you did a good job with them imho, the feeding issues were likely more the fault of shitty genes than anything you did, the beneficials you used gave ya great roots, the plants were given lots of care, with better genes I am sure you wouldn't have seen those feeding issues cropping up.

I ran mine 11-12 weeks and loved em, superb weed. There is no set time to harvest a plant, they all have a window and the only way to find out when is best to pick them for your personal tastes is to run em again from clones and take em at different times as you are doing so you're doing things in an ideal way imho, you might find you like the 9 week version more, everyone is different and like different things. They will probably pack on a load more budmass with an extra couple of weeks, I found they liked to be fed high levels of PK from mid flower and responded with lots of bud growth.

I can very much believe she would put out some serious colas with lots of light and space. I've noticed a lot of variation in mite resistance between plants. I have a treasured old Mexican cut that has no resistance whatsoever to mites, I always know when I have mites in my garden by checking my Mexican mother!

I have wanted to grow it again ever since I ran it years ago, I also did a pack of Walkabout and found a couple of really special plants, showed some pics to Shanti and he thought they were a close relative of La Nina so my experiences with this line have been nothing but highly positive. I'll have to see if I can find the Colombian Gold x La Nina seeds I made, should have a bunch of those left, if I find em you're welcome to try a few.

Comparison thread.

Hey Grat haven't seen you around much lately. This thread convinced me to try La Niña and I was ready to make the order when Nev came back from the dead and said his namesake was his favorite strain so I had to go with Nev's Haze. That and other limited releases kept me from getting LN for now.

La Niña is the only strain to have the Mullumbimby Madness Haze and I wonder if Shanti has tried crossing LN with any other strains.

Hang on, you're getting ahead of yourself now and making assumptions that may not be correct.

Until Shanti is back online and able to clear up the precise details of the breed then please refrain from speculating about La Nina, it does no-one any good at all.

i hope you realize ive not brought this topic about ,also my post directed toward this topic was not first in this convo if you look at the post before mine ,but you still quote my post (OKAY)

i will say i wont go on about this until shanti replies, but like to add he has been asked this question in
wich haze mother was used in la nina
which seems to be a thread directed toward him which there was no response

posted in there is a part of my post below

it seems obvious that the answer is haze B but without a direct responose from neville or shanti its not clear

soo here we are

as to MM ive asked before for info on her backround with no thoughts or comments from shanti ,im very curious about the line id love to see it made available .part of an old ugly disagreement with my 2 favorite fellas was over lack of info reguarding history on lines with mns attached to it .on this line (MM)/the old school haze clone onlys/the haze parents and im most thankful to nevil as he is feeding my hunger for knowledge ,answering a majority of my questions.

im a curious kid ive been told, truth is when it comes to haze i want to know everything

How can something be obvious then its not clear.

It seams to me we have a few Sherlock homies trying to unravel mystery's and the great wonders of the universe well try using a pm line to shanti if it is coursing you to not sleep at nights and before any of you feel its okay to post pms how about asking them if it is okay to do so.

here he is one of my favorite fellas ive referred to

its sad we cant get along ,you seem to love to only respond to me negatively

in the recent thai thread ive complimented an pointed out your post with respect, but no response

if your not sure of the definition obvious its recognized - understood

well as for the obvious i havnt been at mns that long.obvious i believe before ive ever posted online its been said/thought obvious that the haze B female was used in la nina according to info shanti has presented its my opinion that is why the community has come too this conclusion

i said in my last post as for the speculation or just acknowledging the pm hhg
has decided to make public ill wait to speak on the issue until shanti replies

i find it difficult to be nice but honestily how can you take a shot at my choice of word s when your post are some of the most difficult to understand

i said it once before i wouldnt respond but ,i feel like BH has been on my back n you just jumped in on the train ,soo its a promise you wont ever get a post out of me again

it quite clear n obvious ,i got the picture

Your own wards big not my wards i show you respect by avoiding you i don't have a problem with you i just think for a guy i have never seen a picture of a plant you have grown or allegedly grown you ask some interesting questions then when your given a answer you question it and its almost like your interrogating people in your replies.

Here is the thing big a pm is a privet message between 2 people now in every other site i know of that would be an instant deletion of the person that posted it account and any members that quoted it also and you all know this now i am not saying for you or who ever did it to be removed what i am saying is this show some respect and maturity ask if you can post it from the person writing it that's point no1 in future.

Point no2 is this big above quote from you says this first ( it seems obvious that the answer is haze B) then you say directly after (but without a direct responose from neville or shanti its not clear) what are you honestly expecting big from any one readying replies like that you first say its obvious then say its not clear well make your mind up big it is or it is not.

You or any one can pm shanti or neville and they will replie once they get to it with an honest replie but its not helpful for any one to sit there and say it seems obvious wen you don't have a clue you were not the breeder or were you there ask those that were and stop assuming.
