El Niño ~ La Niña Comparison thread.

damn man you tourchered those la ninos lol that was not a good run i think you are a way better grower than what you did with those lol but you gave them what they diserve on them a big pile of shnit right on them lol nice grows

well

like we all kno without a smoke report there is no comparison here.... ghs is far superior lmao i just puked on my self and was struck by lightning sent straight from god himself lol good vibes

Hey onelung2010, not sure how to take your posts. You refered to "those la ninos", not sure if that refers to El Nino, La Nina or both.

No matter how well or poorly I did, it is crystal clear that the La Nina demonstrates the physical characteristics of the listed lineage...El Nino? Not so much.

Speaking of El Nino, I took the clone down last night 68 days.
The La Nina are within a week.

Hey gratitude

nice to see you are close to the finishing line , cant wait to hear how you find the smoke from the LN compared to the EN

Hi All

well I was notified of this particular thread on another site

http://www.growkind.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36982

where a comparison grow between El Nino from the GHSco and La Nina MNS were done simultaneously from seed.

I know see alot more of these type of comparison grows popping up and maybe the proof is in the seed finally for all those who had their opinions about GHSco having plants of true origin versus what I always told you all from day one.

My wish is for any of you who like to discuss these things on different sites with other liked minded people to point them to these comparisons done independently by Joe Grower....as the genetics speak words with photos and there really is nothing to say. GHSco version of female El nino is nothing to do with Haze what so ever...that is clear and people need to be informed of what they sponsor when they buy into a company. We all do not wish to see only Wallmart in the future so say it how it is and that means I maybe surprised at times with results of some growers but I prefer to stop people like Jack and Franco (workers at seed of Gh) spreading information about plants they are too late to have ever seen since they left with Neville and myself.

I have also heard from others at icmag these same guys of the gh forum are rubbishing SSH saying it is an indica dominant plant selected from ?....The fact is people have no need to make up any stories based on no evidence....point! When evidence begins to appear after some years of all companies seeds available then proof is in the genetics...and that is honest representation of a strain for those considering it.

Now at least there are other forums similar to ours who wish to see and hear an end to all the silliness and more on the reason we are all gathered together.

All the best Shantibaba

Shanti,

Thank you for that link. I am part way thru reading it, and it is quite fun to view. The following is my story in a nutshell of why i choose MNS. This decisions was made years ago when OG/CW were still around. Using a different nic occasionally. I met Shanti when I started hanging out at CW. To make a long story short. I purchased a pack of seed from a now defunct shop in europe. They were good, and legit. When I let Shanti know my predicament. The pack judging by the number on it. Was a year old at that point. He offered me a replacement, and more. I was mystified, becasue at that time. This level of service was unheard of. I turned down the offer, but asked to keep it open. Let me try,and germ them first. Well growing got put off for a couple more year I got in a little trouble with leo. SO at the time not smart. Five years passes, and out of a pack of 18. I got 15/18. Geez Shanti terrible germ rates...lol Btw I dropped one on the floor, and lost it. So it was really out of 17. The advice I recieved to germ old seeds from Shanti paid off. I ended up starting almost 100 seed. Over 90% germ rate. When I expected, and had room for much less. I had to cram them in everywhere. I had great germ rates from SHantis gear, and oneother standout was chimera's gear. I had above average still from all, but one company. I got a 1/10, and it was not GHsco.

Point being I would choose to look at another breeder. When, and if I could not find MNS seeds that will suit what I need. Yet with what MNS varieties have to offer. I can't see not buying MNS exclusivly. That is my choice, and it is because of one simple act of kindness. That act by Shanti years ago got me thinking. I started to as he says. Research companies, and such. It severly limited me to what, where, and who I would buy from. With MNS being in top of that short list. As Shanti said. The proof is in the seed. I agree, but must add. Not just in the seed, but the attitude brought into the seed by the breeder.

Shanti thank you for the offer years ago, and your continued kindness. I would do a side by side one day, but I refuse to pay for anything from GHsco. All though I find it quite interesting to see these...Ns

ADD: Gratitude I just realized that I may have hijacked your thread for a moment. If so I do apologize for that. WHether or not I choose to grow a certain companies beans, or not. Is my choice, but I do appreciate it when we can get to see grows like you have done in comparison. Kudos to you, and I hope all turns out well....Ns

This is the report I did on my home forum, c/p here.

I grew out a 5pk, 3 plants made it. Not much uniformity.
I'm going to rate them individually where applicable. The plants were referred to as A B and C.

#1-Strain:>El Niño - GHS Fem.
(White Widow X Haze)

#2-Appearance:>8 Short and stocky. Huge fat Indica fan leaves.
Really thick main stems.
A plant - Very frosty, really grate coverage.
B plant - Airy, foxtail buds. Most stretch.
C plant - Buds were more dense but lots of leaves with out lot's of snow. Shortest plant.

#3-Taste:>6.5 This is tough, the bottom line is that taste is not a very remarkable feature of this strain.

A plant - it hit's the tongue sweet, but unflavored, like sugar, but not candy. It goes to a non-descript earthy flavor after that.
B plant - a bit like Hay, with an after thought of weed.
C plant - it's got a bit of a tang, like clover, but it's well cured (6wks) so it's not that uncured chlorophyll taste... it goes almost bitter at the end.

#4-Aroma:>6 Similar to the flavor profiles, not much odor, growing or cured.
The aroma has just gotten better around wk 5 of the cure.

A plant - I asked a friend to analyze this for me and after careful assesement he pronounced it "Blue Urinal Cakes, not the pink ones, the blue ones, when they are new". I'd have never come up with that but I can detect a hint of cleaner or chemical (not fuel) in it. Hint of floral scent but too hard to name.
B plant - Again, Hay, but now with a strong foundation of weed smell.
C plant - Not quite skunky but clearly something stronger to this aroma than the others, a little like wet dog.

#5-High/Stone type:>7 It's kinda strange, it's like I got the spectrum.

A plant - Really nice/complex, you feel it in your head on the first exhale, makes your nose twitch. You get about 20min of a non-paranoid head trip, mental journey, not frantic. Visual perception vivid. Then it settles down into your body but not too heavy. Long lasting. Mild munchies.
B plant - Takes a min to notice, then it's in your head, and that's where it stays. To me that serves a purpose, not so bad to have around for the daytime but you have to keep smoking. No munchies.
C plant - Takes a few to kick in, somewhat balanced but by far the most body effect. It's sorta sleepy with more munchies than the other 2.

#6-Source:>Dr. Chronic.

#7-Price:>$45 or so, don't remember exactly.

#8-Potency:>Not great. 6.75/10
A plant - 7.75, it's def worth smoking.
B plant - 6
C plant - 6

#9-Overall Rating:>6.75

#10-Overall Description:>This is purported to be a WWxHaze. I saw no signs of Sativa influence in the growth of these plants. They were short and fat.
The leafy C plant sprouted some bananas in there too, so keep a close eye.
The A plant made the grow worth it.

#11-Would you Reccomend:> No, I would not. I got one really nice plant in this pack and I'll keep it around, at least for a bit, but this pack didn't provide me with the quick (relatively) flowering Haze high I'd hoped for. And I do not feel like it is possible for the listed lineage to be authentic based on appearance and effect. I do not recommend Feminized seed, I bought them for the comparison with Shanibaba's La Niña and chose the cheapest option.

#12-Smokers General Comments:>I wasn't really expecting that much from this strain so the A plant was a nice surprise. The Hermaphrodite wasn't really a surprise. I've killed the clones/mothers for the B and C plants.

Thanks All.

Here is #7, I can't keep it to 4 pics per plant.
This one has the most indica structured buds, for lack of better descriptor.
It also seems to be a touch more grounding in effect where the others have more of a lift.
Fortunately, it still blows the El Niño out of the water.

#10 - Smallest cola, superb high.
This was the last to be trained/bent and as a result the main cola got less light than the others, it was also the slowest grower.
I almost discarded the clones of this plant because it seemed the weakest specimen but damn, I'm glad I didn't.

It was while sampling #10 that I first realized that ONE good hit made me feel tingly in my fingers and toes...within 60 seconds. Luckily, it's not the only pheno that does that!

#s 12 and 11 are the most similar in growth and appearance, not able to determine which I like better. As in, they are exactly what I wanted!

10, 11 and 12 have an equally haze-influenced, high experience.

#13 stands out for it's aroma/flavor. The high is not quite as good as 10,11 & 12 but it's still outstanding. It's got all the flavors/aromas that the others do, (citrus/piney/disinfectant, light skunk) but it's got something else too, like artificial watermelon flavoring.

This concludes the pictorial comparison. I think it was very visually apparent that the two are fundamentally, genetically different.
I hope it's been clear from my descriptions that there is no comparison in the high. I was outright disappointed with 2 of 3 El Niño and hermaphroditic tendencies were displayed by the Feminized seed.

The La Niña is hands down, THE BEST weed I've ever grown, and it's in my top 5 strains smoked ever. It's GREAT! I have never been a person that doesn't finish a bowl, if I load it, I smoke it. No matter how large the smoking utensil. With La Niña, I take 2-3 hits and forget to keep smoking.
I took some to a friend's place, they were just finishing a Joint...we loaded the bong and when it made the second pass all three declined, one guy said, I feel like I'm floating, another said, that one bong rip was equal to that entire joint.

I had never even given this strain a second glance...I don't know why it hasn't caught on, I hope I can help change that. You all should try this!!!
I really wish I could send you all samples! I got just over 5oz total from this run which isn't that bad for me if you factor in the 3.4L pots I used, I'm sure I'd have yielded more with more soil...oh well. There will be many more runs.

Thanks everyone for following along and offering insight and encouragement.

La Niña smoke report

Here's the c/p smoke report from GrowKind.

SMOKE REPORT
(Ratings out of 10 per # aswell as comments)

#1-Strain:>La Nina - Mr Nice Seeds.
(Haze X Widow)

#2-Appearance:>9.5 yield is the .5 penalty. I'd have given a 10 if they'd been a little bigger. I grew them in 3.4L pots so that may be the culprit.
They are very Sativa looking in structure, not much branching, HEAVY trich coverage. Looks to me like trichomes growing out of trichomes, like they are almost stacked on top of each other, Beautiful Plants.

#3-Taste:>8 It's very nice. It's got that citrus/spruce thing going on that seems normal for hazes. Slight sweetness.

#4-Aroma:>8.5 There's some citrus, but I can't figure out which fruit, there's something piney, with a hint of disinfectant, there is definitely a mild but unmistakable skunk finish to the aroma.

#5-High/Stone type:>9.75 This is by far the best part of this strain, which is cool cause it's the most important part It's a high, not a stone. It's very heady but not racy. When I take a good green hit I can feel it in my toes and finger-tips within a min. It makes your whole body feel good, but not heavy AT ALL. It's light, sorta floaty, but it helps to get up and move around to experience that part of the high. I've picked up mild visual hallucinations in the right lighting, could just be me.

#6-Source:> I ordered from Dr. Chronic and was sent an old pack that had been recalled. Germination was very poor. I then contacted the breeder, Shantibaba, on his forum and told him what had happed and asked to be put on the list for the new batch of seeds. He said, "give me an address", and sent me 22 seeds, even though I'd never given him any $. I was impressed and grateful to say the least.

#7-Price:>$80 on Dr. Chronic

#8-Potency:>9.75 This stuff is great! I've been having this strange and regular experience of not finishing my bowls. 2-4 hits and don't go back, I don't realize I've stopped smoking. Half an hour later and I see there's a couple of hits left, then I smile and set it aside for later.

#9-Overall Rating:>9.5 Best bud I've ever grown.

#10-Overall Description:>Sativa dominate to be sure, they look it and grow like it.

#11-Would you Reccomend:>HIGHLY

#12-Smokers General Comments:>I have this friend and no matter how good my bud has been in the past she's always got a couple strains that are better, it's been bugging me for a long time. She sent me a text after I sold her a half, "THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU and WOW!!! This medicine combined with my intent is off the hook! Beautifully delightful. Good Times."

Definitely has Medicinal value, Anxiety, Depression, Arthritis come to mind right away.

Hi gratitude

Excellent thread , plants and pics! A+++
This is one of the best LN grow reports I have seen online, you did great job .The end product seems top notch and very frosty!
Its good to see EN run side by side with LN , pics speak for themselves and the smoke reports make me wanna run some again soon.LN is one of my favorite plants and its true what you say about her not being as famous as she really deserves to be..hopefully your report will make more people try her and get to find out what they were missing all this time ;)

By the way you are describing her high perfectly..oh..that initial uplifting rush from the first toke..wish I still had her! Looking forward to seeing some pics from the dried flowers when you have time..
Thank you for sharing your experience ,
enjoy your LN!

Hey there, gratitude...I see you've been busy...hope you like Rudyard Kipling...:D

Awesome thread, but it should be called the "El Nino ~ La Nina NO Comparison Thread"..."the proof is in the seed"...Shanti you're a better man than I am...jay:)

Now you know

Hey Gratitude,

Thanks for your report...hazy LN buds: second to none IME;)

Also, I hope you saved the ones you wanted. For a future project you may want to 'dust' one of these LN's with a male of NH, SSH, or MH and so make a 'tri haze' of Mr. Nice genetics...sometimes the results of the cross "hit" very nicely in the resulting plants.:D

You did a great job, wish I had the will and time to do such a thorough report.

I agree with about all you have written. It has a high that is so unique. Everything is better on this herb.

I think the less than stellar yield is what has kept people away (though my last seed out of 2 packs is a BIG yielder). I have some big yielders so I kept popping these seeds looking for something practical and sure am happy I did.

I hope your choice clones keep on kicking for many years to come.
