hows it goin

well i do love a knockout stone ,the older and more experienced ive become ive learned to appreciate the more lucid heady highs ,anyways she is a beauty although the flavors are not my cup of joe .

Yeah I agree, I also like a very trippy head high that lets you do things. I might not be describing the taste right coz it really is quite nice:(

i hope you one day hav a succesful cross where the beauty of WT is retained .

Oh me to , maybe this year as I have just started getting new strains.

id love to hear more about your pure sativa experiences such as sumatran ,im particularly interested in colombians, africans, thai, n other s.e. asians

I will sit down one day when everyone is away, so I dont have to fight for the comp and answer this one.....dont have must experience with Colombians or african strains, but that is about to change:)

Lol.....ohh yeah this is a easier way to answer you:)

Hi......Here are some pics of my Oaxacan x NL#5 X H with a few different backgrounds.....cheers K

dude absolutely bring back some oaxacan seeds! grow the shit out em man.. a grow thread here or maybe just some pics would be spectacular.

Highland oaxacan gold played a major part in the entire blue family by dj short... alot of people strive for any kind of oaxacan expression...

G'day mate,

Suppose I should jump in before New York's finest Haze connoisseur and purveyor of olfactory hues and tones arrives :D - and ask what the Oaxacan Space shuttle x (NL5# x Haze) - smokes like? Looks like a furry spiral staircase. Chunky looking gear and definitely sounds like an original cross. Neville's NL5# x Haze is a classic and is a parent (or at least aunty) of many of the most acclaimed modern strains including, Neville's Haze, Mango Haze, SSH and even Mako Haze from Kiwi Seeds.

So are your pure sativas still in the ground? I think you might have said they'll be ready by June? That's a long season mate - 9 1/2 months. They must be around 20 foot by now!!!

Yo Big Herb, I don't know if you've encountered much outdoor gear, but its generally a lot less fragrant than indoor (at least it is here). So when Kangativa describes the taste of MM as earthy - that's probably apt because the finer bouquets barely register in bush grown dope. Plus they're strong enough that it can be a bit more difficult to get those words out once she's smoked:) Kanga's description is pretty generous when you remember the typical Australian marijuana classification system: Good, OK or Shit.

GOTCHA
soo your really a comedian who grows on his spare time

you gotta start somwhere

since you ask

to be quite honest all of my experience is outdoor and i can tell you that shiva shanti was my first pack of seeds i grew out along wit 2 very very sativa plants i dont recall the name and not sure of the lineage but the seeds were freebies given to me by a very enthusiastic small time fellow who had a booth at the 18th CC and was tellin me how outdoor is the best and soo on.( i thought this guy was a lil nutz n didnt kno shit, HOW WRONG I WAS ) now this was the trip that changed my life this was when i became fascinated with cannabis and not just wat was available as smoke i wanted to kno everything and still do lol

now the shiva shanti is the worst grow ive had to date ,inexperience yes but the unknown sativa which was still quite premature by 2nd 3rd week of oct was exceptionally good smoke n quite aromatic anise ,black liquorice, sour ,gingerbread ,lime which ive thought might hav been n african these are som aromas/taste ive havnt encountered before or since

ive grown quite a few strains now and will argue till the death outdoor can be better tasting then indoor ,even wit no prepared soil or feedings

now the smoke thats that strong is the herb i could never forget a taste/smell of

yes id love to hear how the pure oaxacan smokes especially interested in taste/aromas and also how the nl5haze cross smokes

the oaxacan has intrigued me since ive first read dj's strains of yesteryear article description spicy cedar then seen the pics in dj shorts cultivating exceptional cannabis ,considering the haze was thought to first be lumbo mex hybrid,i find the structure of dj's oaxacan picture quite similar to som bagseed nyc haze plants ive had the pleasure to see

Yeah Big Herb, just trying to be a comedian, but in all honesty I agree with you - outdoor can def taste and smell as smooth and fragrant as indoor, just don't expect too many adjectives from Aussies.

we all need a good laugh once in a while ,wen i was abit younger i was quite the jokerster but the book of life has given me circumstances that caused me now adays to laugh on very few occasions

glad you agree becaz its fact

some proper grown outdoor will taste better than indoor ,which IME has happened on several occasions

Never grown indoors to really comment on that one. I do know that when they are growing the smell is awesome, sometimes you can smell them from a few hundred metres away........you can always tell they havent been ripped off when that happens:D

Lovely work m8, great to see the aussie old style long season grows and old genetics still represented so beautifully.
much respect

Hi mate and thanx again.....yep always a happy gardner when the plants are happy:D
Yeah its pretty strong as are some of the crosses I have done with it.....Ill have to see what I can do with the pics as I dont usually keep it separated from other strains. Something i now know I have to do for ID purposes now I have joined these forums.....Right Bigherb:D

Kanga,

your pics are almost enogh to make me want to move some place warm.
thats saying alot from my point of veiw, as i love the snow and winter.

Being as far north as I am(45N)with a short season(130daysMAX) theres no way i could pull off plants like those...truley beautifull stuff mang!

enviromental influences and growing differences are a bit of a curiosity to me..mind telling what Lat your on? I like to be able to tell when flowering starts for folks in different Lats and cross refernce that in my mind with strains people grow..to try and find things that may be usefull in my grows.

Wow Kanga amazing sativas .
Nice genetics!!!!
We cannot grow them over here. Only indoors.

Keep up the good work

Hi mate and thanx for the comments.......Yeah I like the snow and the winters with it, but I prefer to travel to it these days:D
I am between 25 and 30 degrees which I think has the perfect temp, it is now the last month of winter and we are getting 9-22c temps and as you go further north it gets warmer.....hope that helps.

Thanx Molly, Glad you like them.......I plan to if I get left alone:D

Kanga,

THANKS for the reply.I see your closer to the tropics than you are to my lat(in the south).

What I find so curious about this topic..and i've yet to find it expalined anywhere..or even really addressed well is this...

Seems as though once you get past say...35N degrees(orS) thats the home range for Indies and sats tend to not grow past those areas naturally. then even the indies have a narrow band thats their home range.
BUT.. some sats..like durban..will flower early enough to finish at latitudes farther north than me. but another sat..like a Mexican...a strain naturalized to almost the same lat, just on the other side of the equator..WONT even come close to finishing..hell alot of times they barely flower by frost,,,and the durban's full of buds.
same with cogolese strains..they(some) come in sortta close for me..but a columbian...no way, still in veg....

Its not even how fast some are to finish..its more about the trigger to flower...

so I'd love to be able to work with some of the sativa lines..even simple hybids...not polys if I could help it... but finding the combinations to work with are really difficult. add to that a guerilla style and limited plant numbers and short season.

so yeah... i like to note what sativas do what....where...and when.

hope this sortta makes sense...its a hard thing to explain..what i'm looking for, and the obstacles i see to that goal.

That's sacreligious mate, you mean you lump them all in together? Ha ha bloody Australian bush growers!

Relax mate:D Ive been growing the same strains now for so long....I know what they are:D

Hey mate to be honest I dont really know what Sativa's do where and when as I havent the experience, but I do know what the Sativa's I have do here in this climate and I hope to know what Shanti's do as well this season as soon as I work out what to plant:D
Maybe next year I can help you better with your quest....cheers K

Hey north , maybe its the difference between those adapted to wet climates and therefore they harvest later to avoid moulding in the monsoonal rains ??

I grow in the wet tropics , and most of our sativa strains dont flower fully until the monsoonal rains stop , they are a nightmare indoors and typically wont finish beyond the areas you metioned , up to 40 degrees north..

I should thing growing is different in the southern hemispheres to the northern , the planet is a bit egg shaped and bulges at the bottom more , i think that attracts a better angle for the sun , not a scientific analogy at all , just a thought ...
hope it helps a little ...
