Week one of flower has come to an end. These plant had quite a jump in just a week. Good thing this light is fully adjustable. Every thing looks good so far. All 3 girls continue to be girls is exciting at this point.

Yesterday marked the end of week 2 of flower. I've had to reduce the power on the COBs on the light to 35% due to how close they are to the light. The bloom chips are at 90%. I really like the adjustability of this light. Too bad Optic LED went out of business. Plants are super healthy and starting to get to business.

Yesterday was the end of week 4 of flower. Looks like the stretch has for the most part stopped, thankfully. The tall one smells of bubblegum and the shorter 2 are more on the Afghan Haze smell. So far so good, my cobs are running at 15% or so and the bloom chips at 90%. There are very slight signs of light stress on some of the closer leaves but they keep on truckin.

Saturday marked the end of week 5 for these Early Haze. They seem to be building nicely. So far so good on the herm front, nothing at this point. Let's hope it stays that way.

Old school genetics under old school led lights, at least when it comes to design, at least i haven't seen such panel already for a long time, reminds me about black dog led panels back then, are those COBs underneath? The old CXB 3500K ones they used to have back then? Haven’t seen those in a long time.
anyway, the plants are looking awesome, keep it up!

Thanks Prime. Optic LED went out of business I'm not sure when. They made good products in the beginning they just seemed that the heat sinks couldnt keep up for the boards and lost some chips in my Gen 1 Optic 4. They reduced the power and added better heat sinks and added a 10 year warranty at that point. Both of my lights are Optic LEDs. They have both been great. The Gen 4 Optic 4 is a great light.

I’ve also still got 12 COBs somewhere in the basement mounted on aluminum heatsinks, and ProEmit definitely didn’t skimp on the massive heatsinks back then, i mean, those chips were available everywhere back then, but Pro-Emit had the best binning and passive heatsinks on the market.
I tested quite a few different options myself.. Back then, those COBs performed really well, and I honestly think you could still grow some great ganja with them today.
But yeah, like you said, the heat is pretty extreme, and to manage it you really need massive passive heatsinks. Here’s an example, this thing easily weighs 2–3 kg, even though there are only two COBs mounted on it.

It’s just that Pro-Emit thought ahead and basically adapted their own products to the market. For example, they later moved more in the direction of concepts like these:

DIY-M-Kit-2-series-short-150w-bottom-up-veg-channel-on-pro-emit-1.jpgDIY-M-KIT-SMD-100w-bottum-up-on-samsung-osram-led-pro-emit.jpgdiy-m-kit-smd-400w-powered-on-pro-emit2-1.jpg

At the moment I’m using lighting from Cre Science, another German manufacturer, and I’m really happy with it, especially when it comes to PPFD. Price-wise, it’s also pretty hard to beat.
What I also like about Cre Science is that everything is modular. They have this 3D model configurator on their website where you can basically build a custom LED light to your own dimensions, with different spectrums and so on. It’s honestly a really nice system.

And just to be clear, this isn’t meant as hidden advertising, I only wanted to show how much the technology has changed in just a few years.
I’m especially curious to see what’s coming next now that Samsung has exited the horticultural LED market with its SMD chips.

I still have a whole box in the basement full of optics from several generations, back then they were the latest thing and always sold out XD, and today they’re basically collector’s items that belong in a museum, haha
Yeah, I also mostly used 3500K and 4000K all the time too. But then I started modifying the COB setup so that during the last three weeks, I’d add around 20% of 6500K. So if I was running 10 × 3500K COBs, I’d take two of them out and replace them with 2 × CXB 6500K COBs.
That way I introduced a bit more blue into the spectrum, and the flowers ended up filling out more, getting bigger, and generally becoming firmer and denser.
Later on, all that UV and far-red stuff started becoming popular too.

Saturday was the end of week 6 of flower. The big one by the door got a little too dry and got a bit of leaf damage. As long as that doesn't happen again we should be fine. Still lots of white hairs so everything is still growing good. I turned the bloom chips down to 50% as well hopping that will help them finish sooner rather than later. We will see. So far so good.

Saturday marked the end of week 7 of flower. Everything is filling in and gaining weight as well as resin. One looks to be a bit more of a sativa in structure and vigor, but seems it may finish close to the other 2.
