I've fallen, and I can't get up! Pass the Medicine Man...😷

Aack my back! I've fallen, and I can't get up. Quick like a bunny fetch my Medicine Man!

A full straw has been planted. Two, have broken ground and are still rocking their helmets, as of this morning. And, I am sweating bullets, worrying about the rest of my babies' breaking ground. 😆

I will post photos once there is more to show. Join me on my first journey with Mr. Nice.

Stay frosty.

Good luck on your journey to the Medicine Man (y)

I'll upload some photos and go over their progress thus far, later tonight. I am enjoying the gorgeous view from my balcony and puffing on some ganga, while I enjoy a cold one. Works wonders for the back 😉.

After I've showered and checked on the babies, I'll boot up the old computer. It takes about an hour and a half for this dinosaur to boot up and be ready 😂.

Pics coming, later tonight.

Sorry for no pictures yesterday 😔. I was up for HOURS trying to get my home computer system to load. Unfortunately, it doesn't look I'll be able to upload anything from it.

I'll zip down to the local Costco and see if there is anything decent there. The people there are so helpful! Honestly, I can't afford a new computer system, but such is life.

For now, writen updates. No pics.

17/18 of the Medicine man containers have sprouts above ground. MM#16 does not have a seedling in it, though. 😮‍💨

On the other hand, MM#14 has two sprouts, with two separate sets of helmets sitting on the soil!😂

MM#16 had gotten tipped over at one point. The seed must have "hopped" over a few places 😁. So, 18/18 for my first ever grow of Mr. Nice Genetics.

Honestly, getting the beans planted has been a whirlwind of emotions. I've never understood how people could just lose their seeds, but I thought I lost my very first MM#1 bean. It stuck to my glove, and I couldn't locate the seed. Thank Ganesh it was in the container and sprouted.

Then, I tip over another container, and the seed ends up sprouting several containers over!

Add to this, I forgot to moisten my soil before sowing, which caused the seeds to float everywhere and not stay where I sowed them.

I am SHOCKED that I have 18/18 Medicine man above ground despite my less than steller handling of Shantis genetics, a testament to his breeding.

Btw, MM#4 was the first to break ground, but is now the shortest of stature with the tiniest first set of true leaves. I did wonder if MM#4 would survive. After removing their helmet, it stayed stunted for a few days, with no growth and a black stem at the top. The Cotyledon leaves were also dangling down towards the soil, while its "neck" was black. They have recovered though and are standing straight up now.

MM#18 was a small seed, much smaller than the rest. It's colouration was also different than the others. I wasn't sure how the little seed would do, if it was even viable. I'm happy to report though, that MM#18 is growing strong thus far, despite the seed not looking like the others.

The tallest seedling MM#3 is 7cm, and the shortest MM#4 is 3.3/4cm as of last night. Most of the seedlings are of similiar height to MM#3 with big leaves. A few, are shorter, though not as short as MM#4 with tiny first leaves.

That is all I can think of right now. Keep the irie my friends.

All of the Medicine Men are leveling out, height wise. Some of the more developed sprouts, with bigger first leaves, are already starting the second node/ sets of leaves.

This is so exciting!! Once the plants are large enough to be topped, I'll do so. I'm thinking, 🤔hmmm. Two weeks perhaps?

We'll see how the growth goes. Let the plants dictate their own schedule.

I have to redirect a fan for circulation and to strengthen the stems.

Sorry, no pictures yet. My dinosaur of a home computer system won't suffice.

Good news though, a new computer is on the way!😁

Hi all. I wanted some advice on when and how young the plants can be when starting an IPM.

I don't want to water with Neem, if the tender roots are still underdeveloped. Nor, do I want to spray if it is too soon for the leaves.

Am I good waiting a week or two until they are more developed. Or should I start immediately?

Thank you, and all the best. Stay Frosty.

I would wait with ipm until at least the first 5 fingered leaves so third set for the stems to strengthen. Just my 2 cents

It's usually gnats that come up at this stage for me and they can be dealt with in a non-systemic manner. And if I have gnats it's a pretty good indicator that I might be over-watering. Gnats can be taken care of with sticky things and a little DE- diatomaceous earth. @Islandgrower gives good advice for when to use soil drenches and foliars. Basically if you don't have a problem, don't add an unnecessary input.

Testing... one, two, three.

Let's see if I can figure out how to post a photo here.... Nope. Hehe.

@musashi help, please 😭. Would you be so kind as to direct me to a good thread about posting photos.

Please, could someone help me. I'm unsure of how to get the photo to post. I know the size is too big. So, directions on how to resize would be neat. Also, is there a preferred way to post so that the photos don't disappear, or people don't have to log in to see the photo?

Thank you in advance for any and all help.

And don't forget to delete the metadata before you upload the photos.
Better be safe than sorry ;)

Hey @Diesel840 resizing photos is really easy when you use some programm/app like 'LitPhoto'. Remember that the size of those pictures should be below one megabyte!
If you "attach files" and use "Insert" + "full Image" one can see them quite well in a thread even if you are not logged in... (That's the not posting in an album version of things)

^^^ Thanks to our family’s helpfulness! As our brothers have said, pics need to be under 1mb in size for submission. Resizing can be done using an MS program on computer or several resizing apps available for phone.
If you do create an album through “media” to upload your pics to, you’ll be able to decide who sees your pics. You’ll also win trophies and improve your point standing by creating albums of your various grows. Looking forward to seeing your pics!

I believe the D3500 does not have GPS.
It is easy to confirm if there is any info you do not want included. On the computer, right click the photo, select properties, click details, click remove properties and personal information. Another box pops up. Select remove the following properties from this file. Click select all. Click OK.
On your phone, make sure GPS is disabled and other settings re: personal info is not included or scrubbed. Make sure you are not using some cloud service to store data.
On your camera, go to settings to confirm GPS is disabled. By default most newer cameras include info on date, camera settings, etc. Again, pretty sure D3500 does not have GPS but not sure what metadata it includes with pic.
It is easiest to make these changes using a computer.
