Northern lights#1 vs. northern lights #5

Northern lights # 1 was Nevils Afghani crossed with the Seattle Afghan strain form Steve Murphy. The higher the number meant more sativa in the 11 packets of seed I mailed to Nevil. I sent seed to Ben and Kees at Sensi too for giving me the nutrient formula for Grodan and Seattle water.

This isn't the real Greg. You can tell because he didn't start his post with

"aloha" :D

What secret knowledge did Dronkers supply you with? Grodan is pretty simple stuff. Plus they have and 800 number like most agricultural supply companies.

The Pez is around the pnw. Everyone and their brother has it in Tacoma. I've only had nl5 pure as a cut in ptown in the late nineties. Was it real? How the fuck should I know? Got it from a military type dude. Not much odor but made the strongest hash. Turned blueish purple outside. I don't think Pez is that. Lots of alleged cuts around Seattle, all different. Some piney some fruity. Mine wasn't like that at all. It was subdued with slight medicinal woodsy type hints. The Ortega is supposed to be it but it actually sucks. Hex I lost my old email so I got this similar handle. I think we need to kick it and chop shop.

!800 in the 80s

Hey Mr Panta .
Have some respect ! The man is a legend .

Don`t think people were makin too many international help line calls back in the 80s .

The formula is still used by the holders of the old school haze cuts in Sth Holland .Their herb has won a cup in Amsterdam recently ...
So it has stood the test of time .

No disrespect here. If there is a mention of an esoteric rock wool "formula" technique or whatever, I'm all ears. I use grodan and I live near Seattle. It always is interesting to me to find new ways of doing things. What secret could possibly not be in one of the many resources of info available on rock wool? References to Secret formulas are intriguing, no? Access to such powerful hidden knowledge could allow me to move to stage three of my maniacal scheme to conquer the world or something like that.

aloha, grodan was helpful in the 1980s until green merchant and the national raids.

Aloha Greg

The plants I saw in rock wool slabs were impressive . They used an old 2 part Yara nute . Grew like weeds .

Things were very progressive in the PNW late 70s early 80s then it did a U turn eh ?

Yo Sammy uses the same formula, as do I.. Its simple and very effective..

Yosemite sam has the old haze hybrids too and yes the growth is monstrous. But I don't believe the formula to be different to any other 2 part from canna etc other than being just very basic..

Works for me!

Peace

Aloha, Grodan USA has evolved starting in NY at the Brooklyn Naval Yard and now the headquarters is in low tax Texas. The research they do is great and the large glasshouse operations have things dialed in during all six stages of growth.

Aloha Greg..

I'm sure there's plenty of research going on, I meant the formula that Sammy had put me on to is the one he was taught to use on rw slabs for the old haze hybrids from Holland.. And is yara kristalon brown and yara calcinit.. I should let Sam tell more about it if he sees the thread.. I just assumed we were talking/thinking of the same formula..

Cheers

Aloha Billy, Things have evolved look at what Nova Crop Control is doing with sap analysis.

I thought I saw somewhere here that the higher numbers correspond to higher sativa percentages, but must be hallucinating as I can't find it anymore! :D So who has the best/most original NL in seed form these days? I don't have access to clones.
thanks

Aloha, The NL Strains were saved by Ben, Nevil, Shantibaba, and Arjan. They have all done an excellent job and all are World Class Plant Breeders with the Dutch Research as the best on the planet. It would be an interesting experiment to compare all the NL #5 getting sold out there just to see who has what.

I'm amazed how much new info comes out when this topic is brought back up!!!

Thanks for sharing Nl Seattle Greg it's very interesting to hear that mr dronkers nevil shanti and arjan all received original stock from yourself!!!

And I agree it would be amazing to compare all there work to see what each breeders interpretation of nl is!!!

Nova Crop Control

Dunno if its the same recipe now Billy .
But the adjustment of nutes to suit during the flowering cycle is part of Nova Crop`s regime too .

Yes that's what I do with the kristalon and calcinit, alter ratios through flowering.. It would be good to use the nova sap analysis to see how the changes I make stack up..

When I started with the formula, I used Sam's recipe to the letter, and noticed quite some n deficiency in my idica Dom plants.. So had to twerk it to my needs... Now it seems to work fine, even in water culture!

Nice info on the nl lines.. But didn't Nevil say he got the nl seeds from the USA and sold them straight on? As in acting as a seed merchant for the nl lines rather than reproducing them? Or did I miss understand...

Peace

Aloha, The 11 packets of seed Nevil received were graded the #1 ,2, 3, were 100% indica, #5 the clone I traded Herbie Nelson for was 50% Afghani & 50% Hawaiian sativa. The others #6-#11 were crosses with Columbian, Thai, and Mexican Sativas. Nevil then sold out to Ben, became partners with Arjan, and then hooked up with the Mr. Nice Crew.

Aloha, I agree 100% the kristilon brown + calcium nitrate is a good combination. Here in the USA I use JR Peters who has a 16-4-17 that has it all in one bag.(N,P,K, Ca, Mg, S, Fe, Mn, B, Zn,Cu, Mo)
