Inbreeding Neville's Haze

Longhorn thanks that makes a bit more sense. I read the article from the link. Deran are you as much of a whining pussy in real life as your last post makes you sound?

Is there anybody on the board strictly inbreeding this strain? I'd like to know more about this topic. Where can this strain be taken when strictly inbred?
Hi BullDogDad,
I have inbred Nevs Haze one time,I don't recommend it.
IMO you would do yourself a great favor by using the F1 Nevil's Haze Male and breed him to your favorite and Un Related females. (no Haze or NL5)
I recently did use an F2 male and he did his job,but the seed has yet to be tested.
Try to stay as close to the Haze males as you can in the pedigree.
good luck with the work.

well i wanna hear bout those people that ran nevils in numbers. did they start with 50 nevils haze seeds, n cross the 3 best select females with a similar amount of select males to test these f2's?

i dont know, i personally hate the idea that its wrong. f man, i guess if u order 4 packs directly from shanti youll end up with near enough to 80 seeds 2 have a crack with. it was always my goal to have 2 packs of every mns strain i was interested in = win, n three of nevils haze of course.

guess im bout 50% set for 'the end of the world as we know it'

im sure under the right circumstances that nevil could create a nevils haze ibl that him himself would be proud of.

You probably could inbreed nevils haze but its alot of work and so far no one has done it though a few have tried. The main reason is that haze was never stable to begin with - its a 4+ way polyhybrid of different sativas.

Nevil has said that mainly the taste and smell would be dimished with nevil haze f2's. Potent phenos could still be found. Since nevils haze F1's are already a low smell strain to begin with, that doesnt suprise me. I ran 3 packs of nevils haze. Only 2 females had any halfway decent smell and quite a few had no smell at all.

A trademark feature of Nevils haze (select phenos) is that woody leathery cedary smell when burned. Other hazes like Tom Hills and The Skunkmans are not quite like that from what I gather. Some say it comes the Haze A.
It would be quite an accomplishment indeed if one could inbreed that smell.
Don't see why it couldnt be done if one ran enough numbers of F2's and F3's - no small order.

Female seeds has an inbred nevil haze, to make it faster. I get the feeling thats also less potent so its basically a dud.

Inbreeding hybrids is not easy the starting point is well selected parents from f1 seed stock now haze alone was very unstable to begin with and the NL5 would be some what stable as a guess as i believe it was inbreed.

Now once you know you have a special fem and male from f1 stock you make seed well what are you going to see in the F2s.

You will find plants resembling the parents and grand parents and combinations of both you mite see great grand parents lines that went into the haze or plants that went into the nl line in short you have a mixed fruit salad to select from.

So were do you go from here well me i would be selecting plants that resemble the f1 parents and you can ether find a fem and male from the f2s inbreed go to f3 and repeat and so on or you can find a good male that fits your goal and back cross it to the f1 fem and from that seed repeat until you get it stable.

You need to keep plants to so you can re start at a set point if you dont get the results you want at each stage to thats why this type of work can take years if not a life time.

And most dont know how to select a male as they go by looks alone that is why most peoples f2s dont compare to the f1 plants they were made from every one thinks selecting a good female is hard but its the males in a hybrid line thats in fact the hard part to find.

Hi Green Avenger, I think the obvious thing Hempy is referring to is test matings - time consuming but the surest way.

Reversing males and judging them for aromas, resin production and smoke testing are all helpful but structured test matings are the ultimate way.

I seen at canna collective they have a banner saying exclusive dealer for some of nevils new strains like super kush/ gush and thats a whole lot of crap over there because rimmeo's had them for a long time now i would think if you wanted to inbred those nev hazes would be the ones to use because they are real F1's. and rimmeo's been a member here for years who know's what you would get from canna collective

Nevils haze X OHxsk#1=BADASS HAZE

Made 50,000 of these years ago, only sprouted 10 and am still running that girl to this day, the other 49,990 are still in my freedom day vault.

50,000 and you've only sprouted 10? you mustv found a great clone only out of those 10 to hav not tried to test a few more....imagine wat can come out of that hybrid basically genetically close to SSH jack herrer mango haze with less NL#5

the possibilies....hmmmm...good luck in sprouting the rest in later days

take it easy

Hi all,
Interesting subject, and one which is a worthy topic to discuss. From my understanding, Nevilles Haze is a strain originally bred by Shantibaba in tribute to Nevil Schoenmakers and is a Northern Lights x Haze A x Haze C variety. It has been billed as the strongest variety on or off the market in the past, and is available today in its original F1 form here at Mr. Nice Seeds.

For some more information on the line, see the links and quotes below.

well nice thread and happy to see the Aussies are all at it.
I do not really come to icmag alot as our own site is enough work for me nowadays but this was brought to my attention by quite a few growers as it caused them confusion about what is NH on offer. At Mr Nice Seedbank we only have the NH made the same way as it always has been and if I am not incorrect it was the one Kanga bought from us over a year ago for his work on sativas. We do not make F2s as these can be made by growers after they buy the original seeds we sell ...it does not make sense to do for a seedbank when you have the original parent plants .

So good luck with the work you are all doing on sativas and the search for your grails, we do believe they are already amongst us but love to watch the land races and selections of others always! Be safe and all the success Shantibaba

Hi JessE,

Umm...I thought Nevil was the original breeder of Neville's Haze.

Bh

Hi bh :)
To clarify, I spoke with Shanti earlier and he said that Nevil is responsible originally for the parental lines and that since 1998 Shanti has been making F1 Nevilles Haze and the parental lines (NL5hz & HzC) are available exclusively from Mr. Nice Seeds only. So the individual parent lines themselves trace to Nevil, however only Shanti has the plants and the Nevilles Haze seeds Nev and Kanga are using were sent to them by Shanti. So I believe you're correct, and I wanted to clarify as Ive always strived for the most accurate information as possible.

Hey Jesse,

So was the breeding done by Nevil? Who was the one that combined the plants to create NH?

I believe your saying that shanti bred and created NH with plants gotten from Nevil and called the strain NH in honor of Nevil?

Thanks

Mr nice is the only seed company to produce and offer Neville s haze f1s.

Neville's haze was breed by Neville but at the time when they were being offered threw GHS Neville who is the original breeder of the line breed and produced the seed away from GHS he supplied GHS with the seed and that is why GHS never had any of the haze breeding stock that Aryan has lied about to this day.

Then Shantibaba sold up and left GHS and started Mr nice and got the parents of Neville's haze and other lines from Neville and reproduced the F1s as he alone now has the parent lines to many of Neville's and his own work.

So no other seed company in short produced Neville's haze but Mr nice so 2 people ever produced Neville's haze Neville who then sold the seed to a seed company that being GHS and Mr nice being the only seed company to produce the NH and more.
