Grail: The Ultimate Haze Hybrid

Busy day

Im picking plants and trimming today. I also transplanted clones and some test seedlings into one of the 5 x 5 tents in 7 gallon buckets, under a 1000 watt sodium. I fired up the ventilation system, and everything is go.

Making some Raspberry Kifir/Yogurt the long way. Mixed 1 pint of Bulgarian cultured Buttermilk with a quart of 1/2. Ill leave it out on the counter for at least 24 hours, then refrigerate it. The culture in the Buttermilk will turn the 1/2 and 1/2 into a high fat Yogurt.

I have some pure Raspberry juice concentrate from Brownwood acres. Raspberry juice is rare, very hard to find , and very expensive. This was $90.00 for two quarts delivered. It is five star restuarant grade though.

After the Yogurt has cooled slowly I stir in raspberry juice concentrate and maybe a little Natural Vanilla extract.

I usually make this with milk, but Im trying 1/2 and 1/2 this time. Fresh fruit can be added too.
It will blow away any yogurt at the store

This plant is over 9 foot tall, Cant really see the tops from below. I went into the next garden and zoomed in on it

that looks nice, what is it?

and what was the one a few posts back with the pink hairs? that one looks really nice.;)

They are the same plant. The pink hairs is a close up of it about 4 feet off the ground. The last pic is from 10 feet away, zoomed in on the top bud at over 9 foot tall. Im sure its hot pink hairs up there too. Panama. It has about 5 different crosses on lower branches. I hit it with Mango, and both Crushes,LAMango, and probably Nevilles Haze as well. That plant has a long ways to go. It is very sweet smelling.

ive seen some plants with pink hairs, but they were bagseed and grown outside. i think all the strains ive grown seem to just have white/ yellowish hairs.

does the outdoor environment bring out color in the hairs that doesnt show up indoor?
maybe from the light spectrum?

i remember seeing something with purple hairs before, wish i knew what it was.

Just wanted to comment on the pink/purple hairs. I think it has something to do with being outdoors. Both royal hawaiian from reeferman I grew years ago outdoors had pink pistils but white ones indoors. Same goes for my spice (hawaiian indica x hawaiian sativa) from Mr nice, pink hairs outdoors white ones indoors.

Love the food and bud pics dr purpur.

Peace and *bong*

good, so im not crazy, it may just be outdoors.
i wonder if anyone has any insight as to what is lacking indoors that prevents those colors from showing up.
what would be the purpose of those colors, and what could we provide to indoor crops to make it happen. is it uv light of some sort or ir or far red.

"this place is starting to feel like a fucking gay bar"

i find the quote in your signature very direspectful and you look like an homophobe...among others negative terms...

Bat

Batman - awesome quote. Since when is it cool to be a homophobic? A good deal of us that are my age - roughly 25-35, spent our lives as outcasts working with the plant we love BEFORE it was legal and the hip thing to do for jocks and party BROs. Acceptance is key.... I thought this plant was supposed to help bring that love and acceptance out of people...help people see past their prejudices... I know it does me that way. Anyway, I thoguht it was a good and relevant quote Batman.

Jack - I've actually taken note of this when growing from indoor to out of certain plants grown from clones taking on the pink hair formation. maybe it's some kind of response to stress or other stimuli from the environment, kind of how CBD is brought out when THC starts degrading - Not to say that it's a negative aspect, it's stunningly gorgeous. I haven't noticed any potency drop between the two either. It's kinda like when you grow plants outdoor during winter and they turn purple and every single strain has that "purple smell". Some outdoor environmental factor playing a role with terpenes.

There ARE strains like the Spirit of 76 and a few other Swiss Sativas that throw a beautiful deep reddish pink color in their stigma. I'm glad someone else brought this up.

Dr Purpur - are you secretly Bobby Flay?! You are the Chef extraordinaire!

Just a thought. Perhaps UV is the trigger for the pink coloured pistols. Then again Elmers explanation seems pretty on the mark. Perhaps its simply down to light intensity.

The pink pistol Panama is in a partly shady spot for cover, and its a damn good thing!

Twice the landline telephone men came by here this morning. Twice I escorted them right past a 10 x 10 patch of Kush, then they were working about 8 feet away from the big Panama plant, towering over 9 foot tall. They didnt see it!

I had them walk beside me past the kush. while I pointed and talked about things in the other direction. It worked like a charm. If it was earlier in the morning they would have smelled them.

Harvesting the LA/Mango Haze pollen was on the list for this morning.

I run it through a kitchen coarse screen first, then through a silk screen.

You want to keep moist plant material and foreign objects , such as insects out of the pollen. I once unknowingly pollenated some pest free indoor females with mites. Duh!

I grab it with a razor blade and funnel it into a vial, and throw in a couple grains of dry rice.

It will eventually go into a lock-lock box, with a dry block, into the frigerator for 24 hours, then into the freezer with the collection.

Here is the mother of the male LA Mango (Mangola)plant right now outdoors

Stormy weather

Got a storm rolling in. Ive got tarps tied tight over the plants at an angle so rain sheets off. I put a couple holes in the tarp over the orchard Sativas so it doesnt fill with water like a few years ago and smash plants with a 50 gallon water bubble in the tarp. As for the tall Panama, Mango Haze, and Nevilles Haze, they will have to weather the storm unprotected.

The Nevilles Haze has been being attacked by Caterpillars. We just pick them off and the damaged bud. No spraying over here.

Here are some closeups of some specimens from my most recent project. These are different varieties of Haze, a line breeding project focusing on perpetuating certain desirable characteristics from a single common ancestor(Seedbank NL5Haze).

Outdoor Grow

Here are picture of my outdoor grow.

This is a C99/Haze bud. The first I am holding the bud so you can see. The pic to the right is the whole C99/haze plant. The next is Pineapple Thai which is a high CBD strain from San Diego it is a clone. The next shot and the one shows the 2 Tom Hill hazes I am growing, they are next to the visqueen in the back corner. The second row is a group shot of the hazes in the corner. The short plant in the group shot is not haze. Below that is a group shot of other plants. The 2 in the back next to the visqueen plastic are from Oaksterdam, they are Blue Hashplant. The large indica is god bud. The ones in the front left are Red Diesel. It is an ecsd red phenotype from Oaksterdam. The front right one is XJ13 from Oaksterdam. Seems like pure crap next to Mr.Nice G13 hybrids. The bottom middle pic is a group shot of Ortega, NL5/Haze and Critical Widow. The bottom right pic is of my group of Mango Haze clones. #9 and #10 Mango Haze are seeded with Mango Haze Male #3. This male had the mango smell. #9 came closest to the smell for the females but not quite so I pollinated to see if I can get the mango pheno from f2 seed. #10 seems to be my wifes favorite so I crossed pollinated her as well. The rest are sensimilla.

Here's some pretty shots from our friend longranger of Loompa's Colombian Chemdawg D. It's got some amazing old school feel to it with just enough indica to bring it down to 10 weeks. The Colombian Gold phenos are my personal favorite :)
