hey guys, now that you mention a gold, i have a different gold to ask about.
a good friend of mine, he's older than 60, says the jack herer reminds him of the acupulco gold that he smoked a lot of when he was younger. he says he smoked a ton of it, for a while thats all there was. and he really think the taste of jack reminds him of it.
is he just getting too old;) or is he not being picky enough, or is there an underlying similarity in there somewhere? and does anyone offer acupulco gold?

Jack Hairy - Snowhigh Seeds offers some Acapulco Gold x C99 hybrids. They should be around fairly shortly - meaning the next few weeks. I know that Barney's Farm offers an Acapulco Gold, but as far as it being a real Acapulco Gold, I have my doubts.

Thanks Elmer! We grew and AK47 a long while back - it was very sativa leaning and had an odd structure but I've seen many ak47's have this shape as well. Does AK have any Mexican/South American in it? I can't remember off the top of my head.

id love some of the acapulco gold ,
ive had little experience with mexican genetics ,
and for me it would be interesting to note any similarities between it and other sativas ,
do you know of a good description of the acapulco i could drool over caligula??

an older ak47 i grew in 99-00 had those spear shaped buds and was fairly similar in structure to the white russian i grew along side it.
i have a new ak47 someone passed me, and it is little short popcorn sized buds. looks good but something is much different.

caligula, thanks for the info on acapulco.
even crossed with cindy, im sure it will display some qualities that my friend will appreciate and hopefully remember as similar to what he used to get.

Storm

There is supposed to be a big winter type storm system blowing through here tonight. An inch of rain and gusts of wind to 50 MPH. Ive tarped and protected several plants. Panama Red is somewhat on Her own.She is too tall. She will have to brave the storm. I did remove a half dozen long buds to lighten branches. I also removed aportion of bud that was seeded with the Blue Crush. I dont want to lose those seeds. Hopefully shelters and wind blocks work and all plants are saved. Most of the seed crosses are still out there.

Good luck Doc, all the best mate. Worst part of the big outdoors is freaking out about storms and what a bad one can do.

Heya Donald - you'll have some on our way to you post haste. I'll see if I can get Matt to come on here and type a description I know he smoked some last time - didn't save any for me!

hi dr,
sorry to hear about the storms.
about the branches you removed with seeds,
where the seeds mature or did you put the cut branches in cups of water to try and foster them along more?
just curious about what one should do in a predicament like that, if the seeds were not quite ready.

Oh my God Dr Purpur you are so sensible. I would be out there in the wind & the rain...drunk & stoned...and yelling at Nature to "f...off" and to leave my plants alone as if that would work!? :p

I guess I am pretty irrational hey!?

But at least I'm a "character" :)

hey doc how'd your plants go? hopefully the wind wasnt so bad.

dreaming of selections, hunt through a pack or 2 of GT for the best girl, hit her with a pack of BW boys, find her dancing partner and black tigers your uncle :).

sounds like a perfectly sensible way of making some darn good seed if you ask me.

haze free leaves all nevils/shantis hazebrids open to play with later on as well.

time will tell.

cheers

Mother nature is a brute, I had to pick my plants up right off the ground and tie em up twice this year because of storms and the rains in the northeast haven't stopped. Hope your plants weather it well dr Purpur

Everything made it.Nevilles and Mango did just fine. Panama was soaked and leaning. The seeds I picked were far enough along. They should be a real good cross. Im anxious to get some dried out then started this winter. Got some Caterpillars attacking. They appear to love Hazes and Sativas too.

Gotta second storm coming in right now. Thunder and lightning.

had our first storm in the night too dr ,
heavy rain , around an inch in less than an hour ,
dont think itll bother the gals too much though ...

My gals got pretty beat up. I had to bring them in early this morning. The hazes/sativas were leaning over so I staked them and will put them back outside tomorrow. The indicas I just went ahead and harvested. They were ready anyway and one had snapped off. I had 2 Blue Hash plant, 2 Red Diesel, and 1 god bud. The Ortega, NL5/Haze, and Critical Widow seem to love the cold rain so I left them.

High Friends
This seems a good place to update some MNS strains outdoor weather performance.

Nordle,
was some what damaged from late season rain, some mould in spots
(this due mainly to caterpillars feeding on the plants, the mould always attacked the damaged area,Not the healthy flower.)
Solid performer,Solid flowers,
Yield is lower than Skunk, better than a pure afghan.
Potency OK not overpowering,very relaxing,mellow...

Ortega
IMO, is the plant for the outdoor grower,No sign of mould,No sign of insect damage.
Stellar christmas tree growth paterns.
Stakeing of branches is recommended due to the weight of the flowers.

Walkabout
(early skunk type)
Ya Mon!
underestimated,underated.
Sweet,resinous,High/stone effect....
Fukin A class herb!

(Mexican type)
glistening in the sun, heavily laden with Nevils Haze Seed (pollen source)
I smoked some of this plant about 3 weeks ago,she is very stoney aromatic herb.

SSH
some mould and caterpillar problems.
Hybrid Vigor is lacking, stacking on the weight, sweet, resinous.
Aroma is lacking.

Love the outdoor gardening Dr P nothing like it really IMO.

Some select Progeny of Oakland Haze and HHG

This was a micro progeny test of some of my most recent crosses.
All varieties of Haze, based on Seedbank NL5haze hybrids.

The tall skinny buds pictured in the upper left corner of this picture are off of a single clone of the original HHG Mother, the rest are a few seedlings from the crosses.
