Hi all,
Getting back on topic, the first post of this thread outlines the very first variety posted online known as Cheese. This was where all the hype started, and it happened long before most of you in this thread even knew about the cannabis forums. The main point of this thread was to make sure the community knew what the original cheese looked like, and also to show just how many different versions of Cheese are running around the UK now. These two main points have not changed, in years since this thread was started.
All of the trolling, name calling, internet games will not change these two facts. And the points that come along with these two facts, such as there being so many different UK Cheese varieties, none of which look like the original first hyped at Overgrow.com so many years ago, that any claim as to having the original are comical at best.
The story has evolved quite a bit since the first picture was originally posted, at one time it was nothing more than a strange looking plant from the UK. It was nothing more or less than that. There was no hype behind it, nobody really gave a shit about it beyond its out of the ordinary look, and there were even questions if it was really a cannabis plant at all? This is not MNS exclusive information, Overgrow.com was the largest cannabis forum the world has ever known, and that was years ago now!
The UK Cheese phenomena really started as a need online to show others, mainly those on the West Coast of the United States, that they too, had an underground clone scene. So the Cheese phenomena is really a direct result of many marketing schemes born from the online cannabis forums, many of whom were directly tied to seed sales. The first marketing hype that really got major push to my memory was the Nirvana Blueberry hype at OG, imagine everyone talking about Nirvana Blueberry like they do OG Kush, Chem Dog, Sour Diesel etc today. Later came Train Wreck once the Nirvana Blueberry faded into yesterday, then Bubba, OG Kush,
Cheese etc. etc.
Its really the same story, different name with many of these marketing schemes. So born out of a need to have their own selected, clone varieties, Cheese is now nearly as broadly defined as any OG Kush. With many different versions existing, of course, all being the original lol, where a name has become more popular than realizing a true individualized variety. A lot of progress has been made in the UK in the later half of the last decade it would seem. At one time the boards were full of complaints about soap bar coming out of the UK, slowly that has changed into gloating about the acquisition of Skunk#1 and many of its hybrids, all labeled Cheese.
Good for them
