Yeah I feel like a good Colombian is the missing ingredient in many high end breeding projects. Just in terms of trying to replicate the Haze geneaology what do we need? Thai, Mexican, Colombian and Indian.
Shanti states that his MM contains Thai and Colombian, although I have heard and read one geneaology of Mullum Madness that is 50%Thai, 25%Colombian and 25%Indian(Bangla).
It may be that Nevils intuition that the MM x Oaxacan will produce what he's looking for - will coincidentally fulfill the criteria of being as close a representation as possible to the original 60s/70s Haze. However 50% Mex, 25% Thai, 12.5% Coli and 12.5% Indu - may not be the optimal combo. In which case you might backcross the MM...or something else entirely...maybe the MM to Oaxacan x WW - which would up the Indian content
Charlie Garcia's Destroyer, which was recently described by Dubi as the best strain to ever come out of Spain, is 50% Highland Thai, 25% Mexican and, 25% Colombian. I have heard that the Meao Thai that Charlie uses in Destroyer and is used in Dubi's equally vaunted Golden Tiger - was originally sourced in Australia - but that may be hyperbole, or it may be a secret and I have to come back and edit it out
The Thai strain described in this passage:
i also collected what i thought was the most amazing strain i had the pleasure to smoke,a pure thai, the one made popular, but gaurded tightly,by 20 thai for those who remember, unfortunatly it was gaurded a bit to "tightly"and vanished!
....may be the Highland Meao Thai that the Spanish guys have utilized so well. This is the suggestion i was given.
Anyway its interesting to note that Charlie Garcia is really putting a lot of time and effort into finding the perfect Colombian that he remembers from decades ago. A huge piece of the puzzle would be solved if that old school Colombian could be recovered.
Then we can turn our attention to recovering the best possible Indian genetics.
I think a great pheno of Mango Haze is pretty close to what a Oaxacan x MM would turn out like. Except if you could retain the best of the Oaxacan's character (beautiful taste with the warm, uplifting, salubrious high) with the best of the MM (soaring, trippy, spiritual high) - you'd find something even better...
Nev's Haze, NLHz, MM, Oaxacan, Mango Haze, Karibe Surprise, Acapulco Gold, Panama Red.....I'd definitely consider adding Destroyer and Golden Tiger to that list. And be great to see if Shanti still has that old Keralan lying around somewhere.
Anyway just thinking aloud
