Hi Folks,

I am pretty new to this growing lark, I have only grown one plant before which was an Auto-Flowering strain, and currently have 2 Seedsman Top Skunk 44's on the go which are on 3 weeks of the 12/12 cycle today.

Anyway, I was just having a surf around the net looking for some seeds for my next grow and noticed one was described as: Pure Indica - Pure Bred – Traditional Landrace and the other as: Pure Indica - Pure Bred – True Breeding.

As the title says, what is the difference between them (if indeed there is a difference)? Not being clued up on the many different breeding techniques I don't understand what this means.

Also, if I Bred a male & female of the same strain which were say a Pure Indica - Pure Bred – Traditional Landrace, would the resultant seeds all be as uniform/stabilized as both parents were/are or would I need to inbreed or back cross them, or is this what is meant by "True Breeding"?

Finally, if I were to cross a Pure Sativa – Pure Bred – Traditional Landrace with Pure Indica - Pure Bred – Traditional Landrace and then cross the resulting offspring with a Pure Indica - Pure Bred – True Breeding strain, would the resultant offspring be a 75% Indica-25% Sativa cross or isn't it calculated that way?

Any help, comments or advice much appreciated.

hi steptoe,

q1; True breeding vs Pure Bred Landrace
a1; True breeding plants Pass on or Breed True for certain Traits...like earliness, drought resistant, high potency and the like.
pure bred landrace means the plants are from seed that was never hybridized...its a pure starin, like Afghan would be from Afghanistan
Thai would be from Thailand ,South Indian Kerala is from India.

q2; if you breed two like landrace strains,
a2;the result would be a pure seed line from those types... Mazar x Mazar = Mazar no way to tell if they would be of quality or not...that is where you must decide on who goes own to make seed and who goes own to make compost.

q3; makeing a hybrid from an indica and sativa...
a3;if you bred a sativa to an indica ,then used the resulting hybrid to breed with another indica the seed would be 25% sativa and 75% indica...

good luck
