Hi all

There was a time on the online cannabis forums, which were much larger than any cannabis forum today, with a great deal of knowledgeable growers, where the variety known today as Cheese simply did not exist. There was absolutely no mention of it, and as I have previously demonstrated, it has a very limited history which can be documented. Cheese is truly the by-product of the elite clone hype that unfolded at websites such as Icmag.com.
For many years, members of websites just like you and myself, all of us, watched as select individuals posted fairly nice pictures of plants, and mountains of posts followed which from outside appearances provided a picture that these select varieties were the next big thing. The next White Widow, the next Northern Lights. These new varieties? Strains few, if anybody, had heard of prior to their introduction online. Bubba Kush, OG Kush, Chemdog, Sour Diesal etc.
So we’re talking about lines which had no merit on their own, prior to their introduction from seemingly out of nowhere! They just suddenly appeared, supposedly lol.
And the members with these new strains, were themselves as mysterious as the lines they brought with them. Members with no reputation, prior posting histories, nothing. And over night, they were super stars! The threads were suddenly beaming with customers, and all of this surely had the effect of convincing countless others that indeed, these were the strains to go after.
Most interesting however, is that all of this was occurring at the website(s) run by those who sell seeds! Go figure, right?
Below is a link where those new members who showed up out of nowhere, with no credibility of their own, with strains which nobody had heard of, were linked straight to the Administration of the Seed Sellers themselves.

It’s a pretty big coincidence new members with no credibility or prior posting histories show up out of nowhere, with strains nobody has ever heard of, and like the great B.I.G once said, ‘blow up like the world trade bomb center ‘ over night and can then be traced straight to the top of the seed selling administration!
This went on for years, not just a little while. And was clearly a marketing tool, propaganda, designed by the Administration of the website to sell more seeds. And you know what, I think it worked! Suddenly strains with no histories became the most sought after lines on those forums, and over night dozens of similarly named, but different varieties showed up. At one point, there were people offering big sums of money for clones which were unproven in any court other than the virtual court! All of this of course lead ordinary consumers, just after good seed with honest intentions, into traveling down the path of mystery via means of deceit. People were losing their minds to acquire some of these lines, only to find out their quality was no better than any other dutch based line available at the time. And in comparison to some of the real heavy weights, fairy dust compared to the real deals.
This is also around the same time feminized seeds really kicked off in popularity, because these elite clones seen on forums like Icmag were harder to obtain than the holy grail! Though everyone wanted them, from all appearances at least! What was the solution to satisfying the masses desire to obtain the elite cuts? Which were female only varieties? (How convenient). They offered the lines as feminized varieties, feminizing the strains and charging out ragous sums of money for the trash, hyped seed. And suddenly you had dozens of OG Kushes, soon Kush became a phenomena much like other varieties in the past. The White Widows, Northern Lights, G13s of the world. Where a popular name is given to good cannabis in order to move it as fast as possible in pursuit of the almighty dollar.
It was not long after, with everyone watching the hype go down and the mania that followed from some members that some of the children from the U.K in fact did start to feel left out. Enter the U.K Cheese, which for a long time had only been a picture of a strange plant from the UK. But over night, became the hero for those select few in the U.K to prop up as their own O.G Kush. Their own Sour Diesel, their own Bubba Kush. And much like with the other Kush varieties, it did not take long for many different versions of Cheese to appear either.
And the truth of the matter, the push to start marketing varieties from online persona’s over respected companies goes back to R.C at Heavens Stairway. Who for many years ran a website that was one of the main places to go to get seed. Much like with Vu-du today, or Dr. Chronic, long before them was Heavens Stairway. When I arrived online, the top dogs in Holland were getting the marketing nod and for good reason. But after the years passed, R.C and other seed vendors found out they could buy seed from online growers and sell it for the same price as the big boys in Hollands seeds, only paying the online growers far less than the professionals such as Paradise Seeds, The Flying Dutchmen etc. And thus many “breeders” today at websites such as Icmag found their way to the lime light, despite being no better growers or potsmen than many of you reading this right now. For some, truly a circumstance of being in the right place, at the right time. And they owe people like Gypsy, R.C everything for their spot as cannabis “breeders” today.
Cheese went from an after thought online, a picture of a variety that looked quite unusual but which otherwise drew little attention to a super star years later simply based off the elite clone hype which occurred at websites like Icmag, but not limited too. One of the first strain hypes on the online forums was Nirvana Blueberry. It was THE strain to acquire for some time, then after that illusion wore off, came Train Wreck. Soon Bubba and OG Kush. Then Chem dawg, Sour Diesel….the list goes on and on and the same schedule will play itself out for years to come as well.
