Hello and welcome to all.

This is my 2nd run on this forum, I was supposed going whit Neville's Haze but I'm going to plant The Doors (seeds I bought around 2015). That'll be a more reasonable choice this time, I hope the flowering won't exceed 100 days.

They will grow alongside whit :
Western Star
(Chem 91/Sour Diesel Bx2) × Chem 91 Bx2)
from Lucky Dog seeds

And some Dirt Dawg F2*
(Chem 91 x (NYC Chem/Chem 91 Bx1)
*(F2 homemade whit Top Dawg F1 seeds)
will be at the party too.

All the growing and flowering from start to end will be under HID lighting.
18/6 full MH for veg
12/12 full HPS for flowering

The support is a custom light mix Living soil whit most of BioBizz products (soil, fertilizers, microbes).

I dont go whit full details but if you have any question about growing methods, i will be glad to answer.

The Doors old seeds, after 4 days of "dormancy breaking"(seeds taken out of the fridge and left at room temperature), just put in cotton :

My insect-eating spiders are back, here we see a male Hogna radiata. He seems to love the warmth of the 400W metal halide lamp. Enjoy your sunbath, my friend! 😎

Yes, we will see, whit The Doors as name, it cant be wrong. ^^
But first the seeds have to sprout; some of the Dirt Dawg F2 seeds have already started to sprout, and I can see 1 Western Star but 0 The Doors for now.
Well with seeds that are over 10 years old, it’s really a matter of luck.

You are a better person, than I. There is no way I could deal with a wolf spider in my garden, even if they are beneficial. My arachnaphobia wouldn't allow it 😅

Things got a little complicated with the old The Doors. The germination rate was good (21 out of 26), but half the seeds rotted once they were planted.

I managed to keep 4 of them (the weakest individuals were also removed) the rest were replaced with Holy Grail and Neville's Haze Mango, which should be interesting.


The Western Star seeds also struggled, only 2 survived after put in soil, with a previous germination rate of 9/13.
The Dirt Dawg F2 seeds, on the other hand, had no problems at all, but since they’re homemade F2s, it’s normal for them to respond better to my growing conditions.

I’ll post some new photos in a few weeks.

Yes, I could have used the technique you describe (thx for the tip) but I prefer not to "force" the seeds and to use only pure water.

I may also have made a small mistake by adding too many enzymes (3 ml/L) to the germination solution, which probably caused the old seeds to rot. I put them in the soil a little too early also.

In any case, the Holy Grail and Neville’s Haze Mango (newer seeds) haven’t caused any problems and are doing well so far.

Good luck with the grow Zero, looking forward to this one. Do you normally grow under HID? Do you ever transplant them into the final medium? I used to find seedings preferred to be started off in a Smaller pot and then transplanted into living soil as it was a bit stronger

Yes, I still grow under HID lights, but I make sure to keep the lamps at good distance from the seedlings and young plants.

Normally, I should prepare a special (lighter) support for the seedlings, but I’m too lazy, so I just put them directly into their final growing livingsoil support.

It’s true that some varieties have a hard time popping up from the dirt, but I just deal with it.
In the future, if I need to breed important seeds, I’ll make a more suitable growing support for the seedlings and after transplant them.

I’m very happy with the Shanti strains, they’re growing really well whit good vigour and already smell just as strong as the Dirt Dawgs. 🤩
 
Here's some update pics, one day before turning 16/8 lighting cycle (Veg) into 12/12 (Flowering).

The old The Doors phenotypes who survived seems to be some indica phenos.
Very compact plants whit the closer smell whit the Dirt Dawgs for now (Pine, Diesel, Citrus).
