Strut your studs!

I did go down the "nicking pattern" rabbit hole! Quite interesting and I think that I learned a bit that I can use.

One of the most underestimated skill for every breeder is the intuition. Most people fail to recognise this as the dominant skill In Nevil's work, see and visualise the sculptures before made ready .Magic that few posses.

A couple months ago I decided to let Nevil's intuition determine my next grow. I read this; "The mind boggles with the possibilities. I wonder if Shanti did a La Nina x NL5HzC ? N." I have not heard of anyone doing it? So that will be my next grow.

What if you reverse the nl5hz idea and use a dominant Haze female with an Indica male that his only purpose is "nick" with the female to shorten that flowering time, increase terp variation and bud density?

I do have a Plan A, B, and C. Plan C sounds very, very interesting.

Plan A: La Nina X NL5HzC

Plan B: if no good NL5HzC male then I'll do NL5HzC X La Nina

Plan C: The Master Plan

La Nina X NL5HzC
NL5HzC X La Nina
NL5HzC X NL5HzC
La Nina X La Nina

So many great things to grow and now that I am in my seventies, so little time to do it. Got to get busy! πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„ πŸŽ„

Sounds like a pedigree way what you have as plan.
You One of the Last outdoor Masters of our generations. I salute you 🫑

"Now Gold Bag waits behind the gate
moments from the start
there at the post
all standing well
as we wait for the start
Secretariat throws his head a bit
and ..... " is like a poem .

I get the goose bumps every time I see this race, even if I know the winner.
RIP Ron Turcotte.
but what that has to do with Studs and breedings?

"Ultimately, Secretariat officially sired 663 named foals, including 341 winners (51.4%) and 54 stakes winners (8.1%).There has been some criticism of Secretariat as a stallion, mainly because he did not produce male offspring of his own ability and did not leave a leading sire son behind, but his legacy is assured through the quality of his daughters, several of whom were excellent racers and even more of whom were excellent producers. In 1992, Secretariat was the leading broodmare sire in North America Overall, Secretariat's daughters produced 24 Grade/Group 1 winners "

He produced females that produced male champions .

La Nina X NL5HzC
NL5HzC X La Nina
La Nina X 12 leaf stud🐴
Maybe this tells us how to solve the riddle of the haze breeding maybe not .

Happy Sunday mate

Thank you for the kind words, Tsaki-san! After reading that bit about "nicking" I did wonder how Secretariat did as a sire. Interesting info as it helps put together why sometimes the male is the breeder and sometimes the female. Wished I had learned all this stuff back in the '70's when I was just a wee lad! As an old pollen chucker....I guess it's never too late to learn new tricks! lol I suppose this is the pedigree way, but hey, if Nevil thought of it then I'll take it as a great idea. Getting too old for unknown experimenting. There is a lot of pedigree there and I'm positive there will be some good seeds in there somewhere. πŸ₯°

"Secretariat raced in New York the most. Many of his races, particularly early in his career and the final leg of the Triple Crown, took place at the New York Racing Association (NYRA) tracks: Aqueduct Racetrack, Saratoga Race Course, and Belmont Park." He was/is very popular around here. There is a beautiful statue of him nearby. Secretariat started that Kentucky Derby in last place and somehow after the final turn just flew by Sham like he was standing still! Sham and Forego were really fast horses but Secretariat.......still holds the record 53 years later.

To keep the 'Strut Your Studs' thread on track; hopefully I selected the right males.

Males, Males, everywhere males. Afghan Haze female on the far right getting gangbanged.

We have small males, and males that just won't stop growing. Trouble maker, that one.

All plants selected for mating are based on my version of 'complementarity'(the whole is greater than the sum of its parts) and a certain gambler's intuition; "I bet that will make a great mating".

No words just facts .
Any strain you get in your hands you do absolutely amazing 🀩 challenging your skills time after tine . others grow same cut 100+ and there you can see the difference in passion and commitment 🫑.

I believe haze c was a secretariat case passed to his daughters the big Heart of the champion and the females passed it to their sons .
My theory is and strongly believe 50% hazes they produce worthy females.
Not males this is me don’t take it for granded this is what I personally believe from my experience.
In nl5haz I will search for female and in
La NiΓ±a the male .
Nevil show us the way and the map is up to us if we can read it .

but this trouble maker is screaming I’m the stud look the crocodile 🐊 leaves a throw back off his ancestors lines .
Defines the indoor heritage and screens for freedom .
Tame the wild kid and you get a champion line 🫑

But I’m afraid with so much pollen all over you will cross contaminate the seeds
Have you taken any measures ?

Thank you, Tsaki-san! :) This year was quite a challenge as I was growing 3 strains that I had never grown before. By 3 different breeders! All strains wanted different care and in the strains the individual plants wanted different care. I was also trying to teach someone to grow. I never felt confident that I was doing anything right. Follow my '25' grown thread and see how it worked out! ;) Next year are two more strains I never grew before. According to the description, the NL5Hz may not finish in my location. Outdoors, another challenge! 😘

At Secretariat's necropsy it was found that his Heart was more than twice the size of a regular horse. His chest was so big that they had to make special equipment for him so that he could race! Fun Fact: His first race he was bumped so hard by another horse coming out of the gate that for the rest of his career he tended to come out of the gate really slow in last place. Then he turned on the afterburners. One of the only horse's whose last quarter mile was his fastest of the race - why he was always pulling away at the finish line. After winning The Triple Crown he came to Saratoga Race Course for the prestigious Whitney Stakes Race. Of course, we had to go see him and watch him workout. He was magnificent! 🐎 For those who follow thoroughbred horse racing, you may know that Saratoga Race Course is also known as the "Graveyard of Champions". The fastest horses in the world come here to lose! This was the first time he faced older horses.

"In a major upset that cemented Saratoga's nickname as the "Graveyard of Champions," Secretariat was beaten by a little-known four-year-old gelding named Onion, trained by the "Giant Killer" Allen Jerkens. Secretariat, who was battling a low-grade fever that week, finished second by one length in front of a record crowd."

In the thread "Breeding Techniques", Nevil mentions horse breeding quite a few times. Sires, dams, pedigree, linebreeding, etc. Seems he used it as a bit of a blueprint for Cannabis breeding as he mentioned the similarities.

As with Black Widow, La Nina throws great males. Years ago, I selected six of them to create my Wizard using a Diesel female.

Both are great ideas and fit nicely in Plan C. Will keep a good eye on things, hopefully I will get what I am looking for. Lady Luck also plays a role in all this.
A friend had mated up some Jack Herrer X La Nina and it was great. According to Nevil, Diesel, Jack Herer, SSH are the same cut. I got some of the Jack Herer X La Nina seeds and got this. Hopefully someday I'll have time to grow it again.

All red stalk, branches, petioles from stem to stern. Beautiful hybrid.

Well, the goal was to make some Afghan Haze F2. The previous year got no Afghan Haze male so used a Early Queen male. Afghan Haze X Early Queen might actually work in the location :) This year I got some spectacular Afghan Haze males and females. So far, so great. And then I had a really nice The LongBalls male, and a keeper Spice male. Now what? I have so many thousands and thousands of seeds and so many awesome strains...what to do? I decided there was so much pedigree in these plants and they were all at least 50% Sativa I would just put them all together for a free-for-all gangbang! Of course, I would not have any idea what the seeds would be but I always grow from seed, I love the surprise and I always get something great. Grow a few of these and grow things I'm sure what they are! lol
Give a bunch away, of course. Next year's project I will be much more careful - no cross pollination. I'm certain no one is growing whatever these seeds produce. I'll bet they will be good!

3 Afghan Haze males, 1 Spice male, 1 The LongBalls male, 2 Afghan Haze females. We rotated the plants almost daily making sure the females got hit with everyone, hence all the sneezing and coughing! lol After years of 1-on-1 mating I figured I'd try something different. You can't win it if you ain't in it. If you want the biscuit, you got to risk it! πŸ†

Amazing males show room .
Thanks for the statue photo !
I'm student of Nevils way and big admirer of Big Red. Please is you pass by the statue touch it from my behald and send Greetings from Apollo .

One more clue is the seeds patern what can tell us ?
I realise from specific plants are always same patern but diffrent colloration darker or lighter so this can help you categorise a bit so you have a clue of reference but of coures possess risks.
The second option is freeze alot of pollen of each male carefully and use it the following season with different intentions.

The Nl5hz will work at your end you will need a bit of luck find the earliy ones.
As a betting man my self I put my seeds always to a race :LOL:I open the container I store them, shake it and let the seeds lose, the ones will go further and try to escape are the ones who win.

He signed all his legal papers 'Secretariat'. Around the house, with family and friends he was known as 'Big Red'.

The LongBalls seeds had the most unusual pattern. I think once the plants get growing I'll be able to tell because, Spice, Afghan Haze, and The Longballs are so different. Maybe. I hope that I can tell lol IIRC, The LongBalls mom was Mango Haze IBL or some part of her.

haha I have a Super Secret way of selecting seeds but too much to type right now. Works good though - you've seen my plants lol

Nice colouring Leafyhill, what strain is it?
@Swifty it's a long story ...lol
2005 I was gifted 20 seeds two came up auto .they are small but I was fascinated at the time and luck had it that I had one of each , male and female. I started to breed it on the side getting five gen into it when I started to out cross .
First cross was on a strain got from visb. Vancouver Island seed bank around 2010 named " purps" aka mendo purp , I brought that cross to f3 then I crossed that to the same auto line x to a coastal variety hybrid of mighty mite named foxy fruity that I had inbred to f3 at this point and then I crossed for this F1
Purp x auto f3 X autof5 x foxy fruity f3
Therefore I would call the lineage
25% purps
25% foxy fruity
50 % auto

If you can follow
