Onward Through the Haze

This morning's nifty fifty!
They will get their first initial feeding and then watch them go! For the one's just now tuning in, the line-up and numbers so far:
Red- MoX x MHI- 11
Yel- NH7 x Doors6- 10
Wht- HHG2 x MHI- 10
Grn- BDM4 x MHI- 10
Blu- BDM1 x MHI- 9

I don't know who to root for at this point as they remain indistinguishable but I'm glad that they are all doing well. Big grow? It was more about wanting to have the right mix with minimally decent numbers for possible pollination. And then @Skuncle Lenny mentions 31 females, that would be nice! Scary, but nice. It will enhance selection. Mullum n Oaxacan, Nev's Haze, Vietnam Black, NL5Hz, Haze AC, and now Mango Hz IBL- Several good hybrids here and the thought of interfusing these groups together should yield some interesting results. What will the Mango Haze Inbred dads bring to this special group? Fingers crossed 🤞

Aloha fellow firewalkers!

New shoes! All remaining plants have been harvested and hung and the room is getting a re-do. In the past, my best grows came from a combination of HID and LED, so I took down one of the LED's and re-hung the Metal Halide. New walls too. BTW, the expensive black on one side white on the other side plastic I had before started to deteriorate leaving a fine powder on plants and lights. That's a concern for me. So I went back to regular tarps. Looking forward to my old, trusty 600w MH coupled with my newer HLG 350R's to run the show in a good way. Floors are bleached and ready to go. I've got 50 sativa seedlings growing like weeds lol. Onward!

Aloha fellow firewalkers!

I woke up to a very cold and rainy day. Yet the house had a warmth bc of the re-installed HID light, shunting heat into the living room and the grow room is now at optimum temp. I topped off the pots with soil yesterday, everyone looks happy this morning and there are already a few that stand out from the rest.

Yes, the MoX/MHI cross is of particular interest. I call it Moxie Mango. I give them names for simplicity’s sake and to keep track of what’s what these days. I suppose I could just give them numbers for names to accomplish the same thing haha.
Two excellent, top of the line strains brought together; I’m confident something good is in the making with these genetics and hoping for the best.🤙

Aloha fellow firewalkers!

Plants were looking kind of skinny the other day, I added a humidfier and they seem to be responding better.
Here's a pic from yesterday. They got a kelp foliar this morn though not quite in the VPD zone.

24 hours VPD zone improved. Closer to 65% before walking in and out of room.

Improved turgor, they appear better hydrated with leaves in a more upright position. This pic taken today at roughly the same angle and time of day. Hopefully you are able to see the subtle difference. I'm sure the kelp foliar helped too!

General perkiness here! :giggle:

Subtle? Not so subtle when looking between the photos. Looking good. I can hardly wait to see your new batch of haze gems.

Aloha fellow firewalkers!

Less than a week since my last post and the plants are filling out in earnest after several feedings.

Some of the ones currently catching my eye are:
This Holy Hanh Grail x Mango Haze IBL (Holy Hanh Mango) stands out from the rest of the HHG's in structure. She is taller than the rest. I think her NH genes are showing through.

This next plant was not crossed with MHI but I am still discovering all of the various Back Door Man (NH x Doors) crosses I did that involved a dozen Neville Hazes crossed to several selected Doors males. This plant brings the characteristics of the more compact Doors #6 to the Neville's Haze #7. So we shall see if I accomplished a shorter more condense plant. The group as a whole has good uniformity.

A re-visit, I chose this Door #6 male for his structure to bring the long viney NH to something reasonable for an ID grow.

Lastly, of course the MoX (Mullumbimby x Oaxacan) x Mango Haze IBL (Moxie Mango) is an exciting prospect, what with old world genetics, she has long internodes which suggests she may turn out to be a big gun. I have high expectations for this cross. BTW, this group as a whole has larger plants than the other varieties growing.

Aloha fellow firewalkers!

Another week has passed and they are now hitting their stride. The taller ones are the MoX and BDM#4 crosses. I will begin 12/12 today. The tall plants to the right side (MoX, 5Hz, HG, Holy Hanh) are clones that will need to be re-cloned today. Looks like lots of branches to work with.
The seedlings have outgrown their 3x3" pots as evidenced by some yellowing that is occuring on the bottoms from salt build up. For this, I have added saponins to the watering. I normally up-pot plants to 5x5's for this purpose to continue veg but with the number of plants and considering how fast they are growing I think it best to start flower and then transfer them to their final pots after they show sex. SAVE the soil!
Often sativas early on don't have enough branching to take clones. I don't like to top them for this purpose and I hate taking them in flower, oh well. As it stands, I suspect they are going to be giants lol.

I do plan on doing some seeding of the MoX cross at least. Lastly, I am sure everyone will be happy to get a kelp/Si foliar today! PM and pests begone!

The Holidays have me going from joy to depression. Happy for the Holidays and sad for the state of the world. Fortunately, yesterday was a very good day full of changes filled with hope. I visited my 50 year old friend in the hospital. He and his German wife just had twins! That makes 4 kids now and he couldn't be happier. I cried seeing the innocence in those little faces and hands. I then decided it was time to cut my long hair off at this new "traditional" barber shop; the barber was an old head in a tie dye shirt. I swear his mouth was on speed but his hands were molasses due to the talking. In the meantime an 89 year old man came in to get his hair cut. He looked all of 65 and he looked sad. I introduced myself and he informed us that he had just lost his wife of 65 years. He showed pictures of his wife and him when they first got married. It was very touching to hear of this long enduring romance. From birth to old age, it gave me some perspective and a renewed sense of self. Life is good considering the alternative. Happy Holidays and wishing for a spanking brand new year! Blessings!
The twins- a boy and a girl!

Merry Christmas and happy holidays and blessings to you @musashi
there are two ways to view the world; to see it as if everything is a miracle, or not.
the escalating trouble in the world is deeply disturbing.
