NZ outdoor, my own cross.

I have a very colorful history of guerrilla outdoor growing for close to 20 years now.

Im feeling a bit old in the tooth for guerrilla adventures now, I could tell many a chaotic adventure, lots of success, and twice to 3x the amount of failures trying to grow in places I probably shouldnt.
Heres some old historic photos from my past adventures:

These days.. I cant do the labour, and utter chaos of guerrilla growing, and I have instead just said "Fuck it" and started to litter cannabis plants all through my back yard.

I am growing full organic living soil methodologies applied to a raised bed hugelkultur. 4 or 5 years ago now, i filled my raised beds to the top with logs and branches sticks etc from around my yard of various trees. I got a few wheel barrows of topsoil and spread that over top of the branches along with any compost i could get (sometimes bought, but I have an active heap), humus from under the trees and any plant waste. I kept layering untill i was satisfied with having a good layer soil etc to begin growing. Over the years just about anything i put in these beds has giving me bumper crops, and seems to just get better and better. The only downside to the raised bed method (as opposed to ground mound) is it requires watering nearly every day to keep that microbial, fungal etc life alive and doing its thing.

So backstory aside, I have planted a bunch of my own cross - 7 of 9 Romulan x Devil (NZ outdoor open pollenated) into a raised bed for a go this year:

These have all been topped once, and were planted in mid november from seed. Still to reveal gender which is usually next month or even Feb here.
See also in the back ground a Nevils haze pheno G plant looking like shes about to put on an outdoor show for me.

I also have NZ Devil IBL in the yard too, photos of her to come.

Just a little dabble this year, but that should be all I need 🙂

Nice one @legacy.cannabis.nz.
I’m similar over the ditch, too old to give a f#*k.
I’ve built using similar methods and think they drain too fast. Last one was 3/4 cow poo, let it settle for months, topped with some quality pot mix. Only water for seedling establishment for a week or two or till good rains. Everything has been surviving 35-42 C days, occasional water. My only other plan was to make shade cloth skirts to keep the sides cooler.
My brassicas were so good, I’ve decided to pop some exotics 🤫 in the mix.

Thanks Wobby 🙂

Ive been away camping since xmas and i feel like my Romulan x Devil plants in the raised hugelkultur have nearly doubled in size:

My Devil IBL have recovered well from being topped (were planted 2 weeks later than the romulans), but they have been enjoyed as a tasty treat by some form of insect. Il let nature just take its course with these:

And the nevils haze pheno G clone is looking healthy and not suffering from early flowering (and then reveg):

Ive got a few other plants around the yard i will showcase as they become photo-worthy (if they do) later in the season.

Happy growing yall, and happy new year

For everyones interest, the devil stud i found who was used in the romulan x and the devil IBL is something I am very excited about:

So far hes passing on all the traits I hoped for which was mainly yeid and vigor when it came to the romulan mother especially.
The romulan mother has some of the most frosty trichs I have seen to date, and unreal smells/terpenes, however she did not like to grow upwards very fast, at all, and likewise her yields were tiny. This male seemed like a perfect fit for a few of those exotic sort of phenos I have been finding in various seedlines.
I was also more than happy to use this male in the Devil IBL. After a few run ins with the law, I was under the impression my seed stock of the IBL was long extinct until last year when I was gifted back two seeds from a community member who had saved them. In those two seeds - I was bless to find that male, and a lovely female to continue the line.

Feeling very lucky to still be running Devil IBL, it was this strain that bought me to fame for NZ outdoor growing😎

Hi all,
Its reeally nice weather for gardens down here in NZ. Im happy with how things are currently going 🙂20250108_143248.jpg20250108_143242.jpg
The Devil IBLs are bouncing back from their topping, and springing into life. 👆👆20250108_142923.jpg
👆👆 nevilles haze pheno G clone is lush, happy, and not going into flower yet, so very happy about this. Clones generally go to flower -> reveg -> then back to flower and turn out horrid. I escaped it by giving this clone 50%shade in her first two weeks outside before going in her forever home in the sun.

Still no signs of sex yet in my outdoor plants.
Things are getting very hard to hide around the yard, so i set to defoliating some biiiig dinner plate sized leaves and tying down some branches. I quickly ran out of places to tie to, having no shortage of branches. I instead done the old pinch n bend... hopefully these recover ok lol 😆
