No Strain base listing Mr.Nice HP13 - help?

Greetings all,

I am finishing my 1st grow of hp13 - and I was trying to get some more
info on dialing in the finish. At 8 weeks of 12-12 under 600 watts indoors, 5 foot plants have lovely swollen calyxes, but very small colas and flowers in general. Is this to be expected? Will I gain anything by another week or three?
Extremely blueberry taste with nice head!

Mr. Nice G13/Hp is a product from Sensi Seeds made in tribute of Howard Marks aka Mr. Nice but neither Shanti or the MNS community offer that variety its from Sensi Seedbank

Hey there, HOLROYD...:D

I see you went for the gold on your first grow...went right out and got one of the most expensive strains on the market, the highly coveted Mr. Nice...

From what I understand, you are very near the end of flowering. Usually takes 60 days to flower, depending on whether you started from seed or clone...Sensi claims this strain produces "solid, heavy, ultra-powerful crops", but from what you describe that is not what you're looking at...

It is supposed to be a rather small plant as well...if your plants are 5 feet tall, I assume you vegged them for an extremely long time, perhaps 6 weeks or so...in that case, you should definitely be staring at something substantial...but from your tone it sounds like you aren't...

Waiting another week should add some weight theoretically, but I would tend to think that you missed the ball somewhere along the line...my guess would be that she can handle heavy feeding, and that, in fact, she might need heavy feeding to produce heavy colas...haven't grown her, so I don't know...

But I do like this strain very much...tastes great and does the trick every time...but the buds I've seen/smoked are never sizeable...always small...so perhaps the Sensi description is a bit off...the buds are very dense, and the flavor is very nice...solid indica buzz...very sweet afghani...lovely stuff...

Much Thanks !

And I see that your experience with the not so large buds is consistent with my 5 footers. And FYI this is my SECOND grow - No rookie mistakes here LOL...

Thanks for the correction...it is indeed a sensi seed tribute.

I Do not push nutes too hard..Fox farm Grow Big weekly.

2 600watters (1 mh 1 hps) in a well vented and scrubbed 12 x5 room.
7 weeks veg 60 days flower from seed so far

No more store bought seeds for now...new post about those experiences to come.

Signing off...thanks so very much for clearing up my expectations.

Also, Foxfarm's Grow Big (6-4-4) is only for vegging IMO:eek:...there are plenty of other fertilizers that provide a much better N-P-K ratio for flowering...jay:)

Thanks much for the input Jay.

I am not quite certain ( though it's written as gospel) that my plants want
all the P that they say you have to have. I like green leaves on my plants. That's what the plant uses to create photosynthesis from lights. That's what makes it grow. Just enough P to keep growing is all I offer, and so far it's dynamite with my other strains.

That's my other deviation: I flower under a 600w hps AND a 600w MH and I rotate the plants every 4 days or so between the two.
It may be that red light is more of a "cue" to the plant that it's time to flower - not quite the mass maker that it's etched in stone to be. It may be strain specific, but I've got a TON of crystalling on the HP's and the widow...some say the MH is a better bulb for such. And I didn't notice an appreciable difference in size between one lemon skunk strain that was flowered once under red, and next grow under blue.

I don't know for sure whats absolutely guaranteed to work, or work best, but I always start with less rather than more. Even threw some blackstrap molasses at the plants when they were 3 weeks into flowering, and now I've got this MONSTROUSLY tasty hp13 to share. So much blue fruit flavor - it puts a lot of Blueberries down in comparison.

So far I've gotten lucky, and I owe it to good folks like you who share their knowledge and their time. Gotsa get trimming now, so thanks much again and see u soon.

Best,

Harvey Holroyd
