I wanted to put up a pic of my veg setup. I have 2 25 gallon rubbermaids, each with:

Box - $8
4" comp fan - $5
old cell charger to run the fan - Free
emergency blanket - $1
clip lights (x2) - $10 total
bulbs $5-10
powerstrip - $8
timer - $10
lil eye hooks (x2) - pennies

I cut the hole in the 'back 'for the fan, thread the wires for the lights through, screw in the fan, line with emergency blanket/mylar. Splice fan to cell charger (will only work 1 way, won't fuck it up if you hook it up backwards 1st), plug everything in and go!

I have 2 boxes. The blue 1 has 2 x 42w cfl's, and the green 1 has an 18w and a 42w. I don't need all the space, so I root clones under the 18w, and once they 'stiffen' up, I turn on the additional 42w. Once they have roots, I put them in the blue box with the moms, until I flip em.

5 moms and 9 clones (1 future mom) in the blue 1 now. I could put 3 more cups in if I had to.

The inside of the green box. I used mylar instead of the E. blanket in this 1.

I would have posted this in the growrooms sub forum, but there are more eyeballs here.

Just say NO to fem seeds. (unless you make your own to run outside, and don't breed with them....)

I did this last summer for some plants I was gonna put outdoors, but then life and events intervened and it was too late. It worked well. 4 each of the cool white and warm colored bulbs(23 Watt CFLs 5500K and 3300K I think). 12,800 lumens worth. I think 1/2 that would have worked as well in hindsite for vegging/moms.
It's a 32gallon tote I think. I needed the fan casue it was hot then.

Not expensive at all. Vanity light fixtures were on sale. I liked the white metal. I got them to about 18" before ditching them. I had to keep "riggin" that wood thing I "rigged" for the fan, but they grew like mad.

Do you still have that box SF? You could def flower in that bad boy. Maybe a neat lil scrog?? I have flowered plants with flouros, and in my opinion, they were of higher quality than what I grow with hid's. No comparison in yield, and I used them for the first couple of grows, so my memory may be tainted....

I love vegging with the flouros. 3 of those mothers could give 10 clones each, and I haven't even started 'bonsai' with them yet.

And you know you'll burn in cannabis hell for putting a plant ina CLEAR CUP!!!!!!!!!! Don't you KNOW any better than to do that?

LOLOLOL!

I just noticed that. I've had people tell me so many times how BAD clear containers are...in full view of the healthy plants staring them in the face growing in my clear containers.

Seriously though...

Now, would I put them outdoors in full fun in clear containers? Probably not. If i had the opportunity, I'd sure try, just to see if the sun's far more intense light across the full spectrum of light.... would fry the roots on the outside bad enuf to kill or seriously harm the plant.

There is nothing harmful , in my view, from my limited personal experience, in growing plants indoors in clear containers. Others may have had a different experience.

I still have it out in my storage unit. I use the below setup now for vegging...and would use it for mothers/clones too if I was doing them.

Just simple wall track shelving. 18" brackets. Each fixture is four 32 watt 5000K T-8's . The fixtures have that diamond pattern diffuser. I like that for even lighting. Very cool too. Plants can greow right against the diffuser. It's barely warm to the touch. The fixture simply lies across the brackets. Board shelves. I can move the shelves and/or the lights up and down very easily easily. Those hated CLEAR!!!!!!! LaffyTaffy containers are almost a gallon. I can grow a good bit on those two shelves.

Keep in mind I'm in a small 2 berdroom apartment in decent size complex. I don't have the room or wherewithall to do a lot I would like to do. This is my 5th grow back to back and I need a rest after this one.

SF - I know that I posted this pic in ur thread, but here is a pic with 3 clear cups (right outta the boxes) outside. The cups can just barely be seen below the 'proper' containers lol. I love those lil cups. I can see when the roots come, judge the moisture level, and see when it's time to re-pot (w/o fukking with the plant). I have noticed no ill effects in any situation with the clear cups. I sometimes get some alge inside of the cups, but it dosen't seem to get on the roots, and the plants don't mind. I just scoop some fresh soil into the cups, and 'sandblast' the alge back into my soil mix. Couldn't hurt, right?? Oh yeah, I can fit 40 of them in those 2 lil boxes......

I needed to fire up another box for the G/sk and ssh f2's. Figgured you all could come for the ride :^)

Here is the tub. I have already cut the holes for intake and the fan, and put up the mylar and eye hooks for the lights, but you get the idea.

Here is the inside.

Here is the exhaust fan. It's a computer fan, and this one is sort of seized. Glad it happened here and not in my puter. Aint no $800 seeds...

Here is the rest of the stuff I'll be using. B+W poly, cheapo light socket, 26w bulb

I got really lucky, and the piece of black and white I cut is dead on the right size. You can also use an emergency planket. They are not lightproof, though, so double up. Also the blue boxes are more lightproof - emit less of an alien glow - than the green.

Yeah, I washed it.

Now I tack down an 'edge' of the B+W with duct tape (didn' take a pic of this step, like an ass. Just tape straight down tight against the fan), and force the B+W to the corners. When I get the B+W noce and tight to the box, I cut slices to allow the B+W to fall over the edges of the box. I don't wanna cover the floor, cause water will get trapped under there, and cause some nastieness.

Here is the lid/reflector. I just tacked mylar up, but if I covered it in B+W it would be light proof.

If you are a pussy, you'll put something on top of the flesh eating screws. If you don't, you WILL remember the exact moment that you made that decision.

are you sayin that your hand is hangin off.....

hehehe:D sorry its allways funny when its someone else:)

looks good mate how many weeks use do you recon youll get out of it before they out grow there new home

Now we can wire up the fan. Find an old cell charger or AC adaptor. Get a computer case fan. I think this one is 120mm. They run on 12v dc power. I have my other box wired to a 5v charger, and it's been running for over a year. The fan should have a red, and a red w/black(tracer) wire. The chargers are usually black and black w/white(tracer) wire. I think the cell charger is a co-ax, meaning it is a positive wrapped in the negative. Anyway, Hook one wire of the charger to one of the fan, and try it out. It will only work one way, and you won't fuck anything up if you do it backards. You DID remember to mount the fan so it blows out, right? The way it's shown in the earlier pic is how you want it.

I really love you guys, cause I'm not even using this fan. I'm just putting the 26watter in there, and I'll crack the top for ventilation until I get another fan. A 120mm hooked to a 5v cell charger is sufficient to cool 2 x 42w cfl's.

Here you go. I suggest you get a power strip.
