Out on the deck today working on the plants I noticed a Waxing Gibbous moon high in the late afternoon sky. I thought that I might try to get a picture of it during the Golden Hour. As I often do, I looked thru my lenses and picked the worst possible one for taking pictures of the moon. I chose the 50mm 'nifty-fifty', a lens very well suited to street photography. Things not to close or not too far away. It is a prime lens, no zoom. Pretty worthless for a moon picture. I like the challenge. Forces me to think more about getting a good picture.

Walking out the door I was greeted with the sun setting between some trees. I was hoping to get something like exploding sun rays or something. The picture really sucks lol

I tried a bit of post processing on it. I don't 'think" I made it worse? :unsure:

The Golden or Magic Hour. Photographers commonly refer to the last hour of sunlight before sunset as the golden hour or the magic hour. It seemed like it might make a nice 'moon' picture but on the screen it sucks. Dang it!

This picture is better and there is a moon in it but not really a 'moon' picture. Why didn't I bring the dang telephoto lens!?

This picture is nicer. Interesting things to look at but your eyes keep coming back to the moon and maybe wondering if the space it is in is heart shaped. As long as your eye keeps coming back to the moon then it is a 'moon' picture. That's the second time I went moon hunting with a 'nifty-fifty'. Next up is a 'zoom' lens! (y)

Thanks, Wobby! We're at the temperature zone edge where a little of everything grows. Some days if feels kinda tropical.

A lot of people like the 50mm because the focal length is very similar to our eyes. That's petty much what the moon looked to my eyes. I do have a small telephoto but where's the challenge? lol I will guess that you can take that exact picture once every year or two.

Two lunar eclipses in Scorpio over past 5 years be the last time, with pleasing results with my Lumix 7.
Prior to that maybe timelapse of southern celestial pole with a foreground lol.
Cannabis seed photography is current goal. Been awhile in the dreaming but last component being fabricated.
Ended up buying a 40mm 2.8 micro as the 105 got a bit crowded.

I have a Lumix LX-7. Same thing?

@TGTDE set the standard around here for seed photography. Of course, records are made to be broke. Seeds are pretty cool as no two patterns are alike. I see photo stacking in your future! (y)

Each year we rent a little piece of land on a small organic farm to grow vegetables for family and friends :love:

And as a positive side effect the kids learned that vegetables don't grow in the supermarket :ROFLMAO:
