Just teasing ya, Deach69. I don't reach out the window and slit their throat though I think I could. I think the best time to do this is when I am bringing in groceries as they like to come up and sniff the bags. If there is a cherry pie in there - forget about it. If they smell cherry pie, I can get them to sit, lay down, roll over, and give me their paw. That would be the time. In a few completely unscientific experiments, I have set out 5 different types of food for the deer. Every single time the cherry pie is eaten first.
I actually bow hunt with a very Keep It Simple Smartie method. I burn a wine cork a bit and when it cools down I blacken my face with the soot. I put on a red hat and vest, grab my bow and quiver and head into the woods. That's it. I do not use a blind or tree stand, I don't cut out 'shooting lanes' for the blind/tree stand, and I don't set out bait on the trails. This is not hunting, like you said, it is luring. Like shooting deer in a barrel. I do not use anything to cover my scent. Just me, my blackened face, and a bow. Such a fun challenge and very rewarding when you get one. While my success rate percentage is low, I am in the woods almost every day of the year anyway so I call it win-win for me. My freezer is full of venison/trout/walleye so life is good. Have not bought meat at a store in decades. Was at a friend's recently and he was cooking some store bought steak. Lord, that smelled awful. Thought I was going to gag! lol
An unusual double-headed Bee Balm flower. I like to keep Bee Balm planted close to the house as Hummingbirds love it!
Better yet, a feeder next to the window where I can observe them from inches away. Wow, they have such tiny feet! lol I also play my electric guitar right there. My playing does not scare them away. They seem to enjoy feedback. That makes me happy! Just to the right and out of the picture is a small pine tree. This hummingbird sits there for hours guarding 'his' feeder. He will attack anything that goes near the feeder including me when I fill it!

I love everything about bergamot, awesome flower. And bird feeding, a birder friend of mine warned me against it in general, and it makes sense. But I've given in and have feeders going, it's really nice to have birds come in so close to home. The whole world is screwed already and as someone else pointed out recently, we are a part of nature, therefore what we do is natural. Shoot me for feeding birds

My lawyer says I should mention my mind was preoccupied with a handful of shrooms. There were no rules at the time and I was just having a good time trying to share some interesting images.

Sorry for hijacking your thread with other peoples images Deach. I have deleted the offending articles and wish you all the best with this idea. It's a good one. I thought restrictions had been eased, my mistake it wasn't a free for all afterall. I like your idea of just using our own photos.

On the other side of the house is a bird feeder I make out of 2 liter soda bottles. It can be seen, empty, in the buck picture from my living room. I like to feed White Breasted Nuthatches. They are the only bird in North America that will go down a tree head first. All other birds back down the tree or fly down. The White Breasted Nuthatch is also very acrobatic and will hang from the branch I have the feeder mounted on upside down and flip over to the landing where the feed is. They ''stick' a perfect landing every time! They also make the cutest, tiniest, little trumpeting sound I ever heard. To me, it is one of the coolest sounds in nature I ever heard. I also like to feed the 'Tufted Titmouse'. This is the only area of the country where the Titmouse has a tuft of feathers on his head.
Of course I let other types of nuthatches, black-capped Chickadees, Woodpeckers(3 types), and Cardinals feed. Most of the rest I shoo away. In the winter, with feet of snow on the ground and not a flower, seed, or berry to be seen, I don't feel at all bad about feeding them. It gets very busy, like JFK airport in the winter. I just realized in feeding birds for decades that I have not taken a single picture of them! That's ok, it is my relax time. I sit on the stairs a few inches from them and just relax and marvel.
I did take a half-assed picture of a Pileated Woodpecker. They are pretty elusive and shy. Picture taken through a screen window so not clear and sharp. They are about 18" tall with a 30 inch wingspan and sound like hammer hitting a tree.
Here is a Pileated Woodpeckers nest. They do a bit of damage to trees due to their size. They like to use the same tree each year.
[EDIT] Just remembered that when the bird feeder is empty the Woodpeckers sit there and make a 'crying' sound. It is so cool and also my reminder to fill the feeder! Maybe you ain't supposed to feed the birds but when they sit there crying like that I do not have the inner strength to ignore them and not fill the the feeder. So, shoot me!

This a wallaby on a walking track down at Wilsons Promontory. The most southern point on the Australian mainland. A very special place. Still relatively untouched by capitalisms death hand. Hands off the Prom you fascist bullyboys!!

Same place. The wombats here are virtually tame. If you knew wombats you would understand that they only come out at dusk and nightime and humans are something they usually try and avoid. They litter the roadsides with their dead carcasses as they like the grass that grows on the sides of roads and for some reason the grass is always greener on the other side for the poor wombat.
This is the middle of the day. To see a wombat in the middle of the day is virtually unheard of. They are usually asleep in their burrows. Well underground.
As an aside imagine hitting one of these at a hundred km's per hour. Hold that wheel straight and hope for the best. They are built like tanks!!
Another thing about wombats is that they can kill your dog. If a dog attacks them in their burrow they try to squash them against the walls of the tunnel.

True. Discretion is the better part of valor. I believe I have reached a point in my life where I am tired of hiding though. I have been made to feel like a criminal for doing something that I love and believe makes me a better person. It's a twisted dichotomy they have thrust upon us. Live and let live is the beginning and the end. What part of that don't they understand. However, because I am not really ready to make a martyr of myself and I am fundamentally a coward I will continue to hide for a bit longer. haha.

Just caught this scene off my porch, they flew off right after. From experience, I'm in the habit of taking a shot of wildlife right away, without putting much time in composing because nature is unpredictable and always changing. I wouldve liked to take more, but at least I have this, and I think it makes for an interesting shot

Love your photo mate. And I agree, take the shot. I find it very frustrating watching people trying to get the perfect shot and then getting nothing. I told Dad to set my camera up on autofocus and when I hit the button it takes multiple shots. The man himself was trying to get the perfect shot of a Collared Sparrow Hawk sitting in a tree the other day, but while he was buried away in his lense a magpie was harrying the hawk and telling it to move on. Would have made an amazing photo. Similar to what you captured. The perfectshot is a bit like taking amphetamines. You get great focus but you lose sight of the bigger picture.@crazyhorse73 , love your wildlife photos

All the photo's I posted are my fathers by the way as I only recently received my hand-me-down camera and lense and don't really have a library of photos yet.
