Hi Skunkha, thank you and the same for all the other members that have given me their condolences. All is good here now and life goes on as it should:D

Hey mate you should never be jealous of my conditions, believe me it might look perfect but we do cop some incredible weather here, although I do believe this year is going to be a bit better.....well i hope anyway:D

Stay safe yourself and happy growing...K

Hey mr kanga ,,
glad to hear all is ok in the camp now ,
life kicks us in the bum now and then to remind us how precious it is i think ,
over coming the obstacles makes us stronger and more able to deal with the next obstacles ..

i think your right with the weather ,,
looking like a m;ore typical year on the weather front ,
i welcome that also mate ,
fingers crossed for all of us ...

Looks like a nice structure on this Kariba. The missus spent a week up the Zambesi river some years back smoking Kariba Surprise, and recollects it as some very fine herb - why she keeps bugging me to try and procure some:)

Hi Ya Bushy.....this is the early one and I was lucky to get it back from a clone that was just a head, anyway this plant is going to be put to the late maturing Nev F1 males. But dont worry there will be some to try:D

Today I get to test one of the lastest F1 females which I hear is the best so far......What are you up to ???

Cheers Wal and yes u are right it does make us stronger.

Yeah mate I am sure you to welcome a nice growing summer and my wishes are with you on that one:D
All is beautiful weather here at the moment and no rain for over 3 weeks, just like the good days, the only difference is we have tons of ground water now and creeks are flowing. Even up at the Thai patch seeds that dropped on the ground are popping up all over the place......now that is a good sign:D

That's a fantastic outcome mate. Same thing happened up at my patch too, but I've been too lazy to run any water up, at least until the season begins in earnest :-)

Lol....What you dont think the season has started:D

Im in full soil prep at the moment......The 8 month old compost is getting dug in and all the other goodies that go with it. At least this year I can work in dryer soil instead of wet goo like last year:D
Smoked that Nev F1 on the weekend and it sure is getting stronger as the later strains come on......cant wait till the last of the batch finish:D
I have all Jim's seeds up now so cant wait to see them and the Oax WW x SSH, MM x SSH and MM WW x SSH are just powering, definetly some hybrid vigour there.

Hi Guy's, I wasnt really going to post again but you are all so damn persistant:D

Hey Mattthew good to see you back again, I have a very nice A G13 in reveg at the moment that we selected from a few and I am looking forward to see how it will go over our summer.

Ok regards the yellowing all those plants are clones from the summer grow and also some I put in before winter, they are in very small pots compared to the size of them so it as beem a nightmare trying to keep them looking 100%, plus not being a pot grower:D it took a bit sorting out the right mix :o

That Black widow was one I selected out of a few that I had last summer because it was the strongest and I believe it leans towards the Colombian side of the strain.
It is also very similar to the female I selected from the WW seeds i got in the 90's and crossed to the MM and Oax.
I did not finish the Remedy off last time only made seed from the 4 females, 2 males I had, now I am just doing that so I am keen to see how they go.
i agree they look good:D

Oi! Kanga! Great to hear, I really hope you find a really good use for that strain, it's very special and def has a special part of my heart. After running into the airborne I refused to grow the pacifica g13 anymore. When you and Nev decide to release anything keep me in the loop on where to go =)

I finally got my hands on some MM, and I'm almost dumb enough to try to do them indoor, but I may just pass them onto Snowhigh so I don't waste some good genetics lol.

I love stopping by this thread and seeing the goods. Take care K!

from my standpoint, i'm happy to see several of you folks back online and posting up!! it seems like when the angry rhetoric compels a break, it is the sanest with the best to say that leave first? lol. doesn't say much for me, does it?

there are big gaps in my education when it comes to the diff between the airborne and pacifica 13s and how all of it came about. the pacifica is the bigger of the two, correct, but it is also a cross? peace-biteme

Well from my studies and what I can tell from growing the Airborne it's a G13 x NL #2. It's shorter and squat, but the potency is out the roof. The Pacific is a bigger yielder...what the genetics are, no idea. I have read some places that the breeder Pacifica had the Airborne cut - but it's obviously different from the original Airborne cut. I also know that another breeder, Clips, went on to use the Pacific to make some amazing stuff that brought the best out of the pacific. But head to head, I'll always have my money on the Airborne, it's also much closer to the original G13.

edited for content...

Anyway, other than working with the Airborne for quite a while that's the extent of my knowledge on the two cuts.

Was there any ever proof that G13 really came from the Govt farm in Mississippi? I've talked to people who knew the guy etc... Never really pans out though as far as I can tell.

Pacific G13 is G13xNL2, so is the Airborne G13. The Pacific one leans towards the NL2, that's why the buds from it look kushy with those big calyxes.

orang - that could explain how that worked out, thanks for chiming in on that fo sho.

PlantMan - Sorry, had no idea that that was a topic that stirs up anger?

I will be also working with a Mazar/Thai combination using Shanti's from last year

Hi Kanga, just touching on the Thai, I believe that as well as reducing flowering time and bulking up the heads, crossing the Thai with a more indica based strain may act as a necessary step in sealing in the raw psychedelic power of the Thai. For although I have not read anything on the matter, it seems evident to me that all of the powerfully trippy strains that leave SE Asia, end up losing their potency over time - no matter how good the new environment is for growing - for no other reason than that the humid equatorial jungles of SE Asia are the optimal environment for maintaining and preserving that unique high.

It seems that the prominent school of thought in cannabis circles is that strains only change via mutation, where I believe that change occurs in increments over time, without the need for large ostensible gene shifts - as a natural mechanism of adaptation.

Over the years thousands upon thousands of Thai sticks have entered Western markets like Australia and the US, and while these strains start off as powderkegs of trippiness that leave people gaga for hours - the question must be asked - where are they now? What happens to these cultivars? Because very very few exist that has that same raw intensity.

Over the years thousands upon thousands of Thai sticks have entered Western markets like Australia and the US, and while these strains start off as powderkegs of trippiness that leave people gaga for hours - the question must be asked - where are they now? What happens to these cultivars? Because not a single one exists that has that same raw intensity. Hence over time strains like MM and Haze lose there much vaunted power and end up being very good smokes, but not stupefying brilliant smokes like we've all encountered in the past.

To me there is no other plausible explanation for why Thai sticks do not remain Thai sticks over time, other than a loss of potency due to less than optimal growing conditions. And although I do not have much of an argument to explain my intuition, I believe that this degradation is somewhat allayed by hybridizing said super sativa to a strain that produces a plant more suited to local conditions. Which in your case is probably a 66% to 75% sativa ratio.

I would also be interested in seeing you and Nevil cross that Thai stick to that Skunk of Nevil's that I sampled earlier this year, as a means to best replicate the 'original haze' so to speak. For another intuition of mine is that the 'original haze' was nothing more than Thai stick x an early era Skunk.

Yep, that's my opinion on the original haze - Thai stick x Skunk. Skunk being a combination of Mexican, Colombian and Afghan.

I'm not referring to the shitty skunk that most are familiar with, but that early roadkill skunk that took the world by storm, which I also believe you guys possess. While I think the Mazar is a nicer smoke. I think Nevil's Skunk is more potent.

That's all.

Hi Ya mate.....Sounds all pretty feasible to me:D
I stored some pollen from that resinous NL x Afie. I tried it awhile ago and all was ok, now it is nearly 5 months old and I am trying it again, I also believe this will be a good cross on the Thai.
I will also put some of RSC giant Mazar over the Thai.....the mind boggles at how this could turn out:D
