40 Days Since Germination

It's been 40 days now, I lifted the T5 up a bit to encourage a little stretch before pre-bloom phase. Pre-bloom began today, lighting changed to 1030W HPS, that's 2 bulbs, a 600W in the vertizontal reflector swung a bit to the right and a 430W in a small batwing reflector that covers the left. I have a 1K HPS but this way is better to divide the amps used between two 15 amp breakers, safer too. Sorry the hps pics didn't turnout so well, the plants are 14-16 inches tall now, plant pictured outside the tent is 15 inches tall, it's the plant in the front row, on the left in the group photos.

hi Medicine Man

the plants look amazing , thats some pretty tight growth !

Btw I was wondering what do you mean by 'pre-bloom', are you still running 18/6 ?
If so have you decided when to go to 12/12 ?

hey thanks, no pre-bloom is a term i use to describe the transition from veg to bloom. I grow most in rockwool and that's where the pre-bloom name/term is from. It's really just a later veg period, but timing is still the same 24 on, all my veg is 24 on, just easier since we share the same living space. More of a lighting change term than anything. Believe it or not when I go from T5 flos to HPS the plants stretch, in a good and planned way, but they do stretch even when the lumens increase from 40K to 140K.
T5's are the best, could'nt do what I do without mine, they set the pace for tight nodes early in veg, then hps for good stretch in pre-bloom, sets you nice for big yields! I'll have some harvest shots soon, grow trees, you won't regret it.
I hope to put these in the bloom room end of June, 20 days or so more.

hey MedMan

thank you for the reply and advise man

have you ever experimented vegging with HPS or/and MH above with added T5s fluros as side lighting?
The T5s seem to be really keeping plant growth tight but I m worried that they may not really be sufficient in terms of coverage for high number of plants(unless of course you have a lot of T5s fluros) thats why I ask if you ve tried combining HID with T5s.

keep up the good work and thanks for sharing , Ortega sounds a very interesting indica line and since seeds come from Shanti I m sure there will be some great plants to be found in this line.

Bloom Day 22

Sorry no updates in awhile, summer heat has hit and everything's in slow-mo for me :)
I began bloom on June 14, today is day 22. Ended up with 5 females, most plants showing sex after 7 days of 12/12. Plants stretched a bit since I had them in the same room as others that just finished and wanted to keep the night temps down to finish them. They're still in 6 litre pots, next round is already rooted in 4 inch rockwool cubes, gonna grow them in 5 gal pots of loose rockwool.
I like #2 and #6, both a bit stockier and smellier.
Plants #1, #2, #4, #5, #6

Nice plants!

Your def. doing a good job. On the 11th you said one of them was 17 inches tall. Do you know what the height is now? I know you said they stretched a bit from the low temps but it almost looks as though they have tripled in size since you flowered them. I would think lower temps would decrease or slow growth. I could be wrong on that. Or do you think they stretched because your other plants were taller making the light further away from the ortegas?

Any info on the smell would be great.

Thanks

Looking good Medicine Man

Foliar fed once with H&G's Magic Green.

I am curious where you buy your H&G nutes? I've heard lots of great things aboot H&G nutes but none of the hydro shops in T.O. I know of carry it. Any tips would be highly appreciated.

mouthwatering to say the least...i must say that Shanti's indica's from the looks are really vigorous something I rarely see in indica plants...seems his talent equates in us having to use less veg time even with indica's and get very nice results...i opted for AfxSk but this thread always has me asking whether i should have chose the ortega...your plants are so healthy, vegetation was incredible and you got a great gift working the plants the way you do...keep it up, i'm glued to this thread!

nice

Hey MM,

Nice looking here. Seems like a decent yielder, and they are still growing. This is one I've been interested in for my medical uses. I hope it turns out well for you. I can't wait to see the smoke report. Mainly my med use is for pain issues, and muscle spasms, and cramps. I have this one at the top of my short list. Sorry to ramble, but looks good...Ns
