Living soils anyone?

I also believe, it is indeed needed to buffer the medium, so that it is in „shape“ as if you buy for example canna coco, which is prebuffered already.
So that has been said..
Buffering of bricked coco will be done, before adding all other building elements

Next topic is, if to mix in „at what quantities“ some dolomitic lime

After many hours reading, and asking few great growers here..
I find out it would be good, maybe even needed, to supplement super coco with dolomite lime.

It works as great pH stabilizator and suplement our plants with Calcium and Magnesium which is so much needed, more so in Coco and even more when using LEDs, I also believe it will be good for microbes in soil.

So after reading few notes here and there on various sites, I have made a decision to mix in one table spoon DL into 5 liters of coco mix.
I have already bought some dolomitic lime, which was fine grounded - it contains some 25% CaO and 17% MgO

I hope everything mentioned in this tread would work out as intended, that are my deepest beliefs right now :)
I will at first mix this recipe and test the final supercoco soil for its physical properties, before I plant anything in it.

SUPER COCO INITIAL TEST MIXTURE

I have mixed 1,5 l of super coco, as shown in initial mix table, and added dolomite lime as said earlier.
*I did not buffer the coco bricks, as I have read on the plagron pages, and they say their bricked coco is buffered already. I just measured its runoff pH of 6*

I have then watered mixture with pure tap water.
*I think the super coco is very hot for seedlings, with its EC around 2000. In first watering I think I flushed some residues which droped EC of soil from some 2500*
The pH seems balanced as can be seen below.
I got a feeling it may work well for growth period, yet too hot for seedlings, which I kind off expected :)

So fully water saturated 1500 ml of super coco mixture weight some 950 g. It is very fluffy, the aeration is felt in good manner, the runoff color reminds me, there is good portion of some fine humus parts.
(**** when used for growing, there will be just litlle to no runoff ****)

1st pH balance test

- added 400 ml tap water (pH 7,3 / EC 546) with 250 ml run-off (pH 6,6 / EC 2530)

2nd pH balance test

- added 400 ml tap water (pH 7,3 / EC 550) with 350 ml run-off (ph 6,6 / EC 1940)

Still some planned/ongoing tests before planting something in this mixture.

First and the most vital test is, if the fungi starts to grow on the top soil (dont know if it can be applied on coco too, will see)

Second test is still comparing the water runoffs so that I can tell if the pH balancing will still work down the road, and how the EC will drop over time, but on the other hand, this test is not explaining anything, because there will be top amendments added thru the whole grow and the plant behaviour in the pot is not there yet - I just dont want to be unprepared for upcoming grow.

One more test is for water retention. After all the tests are done, the weight off fully saturated soil (950 g) VS. fully dehydrated soil (X g) will be compared -> this will show how much water this media can hold. (I dont want to bake soil, so natural drying under LED must be all that is needed)

....more to come later....

Yes my outdoor plant in a 15L Facricpot im feed her with Plankton alga bloom and alga grow she is her wholl live on the Balkony and doing great she is the on i want to polinate her with the NL5xSkunk#1Male and the G13xSkunk#4Male and i habe a Zkitalliciuc i want to polinate with the NL5xSunk#1Male and call it Sunkallicius and maybe some other fems in the tent thats will bei fünf for sure to grow Thema out

PEACE

Iam ending the test.

The premade soil seems too heavy for plant roots, lacks of pottasium, other irregular deficiencies.

So big no, we at europe cannot have gaia green...

I will revert back to soil with wormcasts and bat guano...

The main problem lay in wormcastings I think, it is too much, the soil is damp, or how to say.. It is really heavy... So I think for indoor, not so good.
The coco? Maybe, even Living soil web say, it can be used in coco, but they dont like it...

The plants are okay, but slow, a nd the fast one is showing deficiencies...

So much effort I had put in it is sad :-(

Yet, everyday is good time to learn :)

It's a shame @PtreeCi but then again it's another lesson and you gained some more knowledge.
Thanks for sharing!

I just get back, to where it is more familiar...

Biocanna soil...
Still the suplements are good for amending...
As I used some for a while...
But it doesnt act immediately and thus its harder to use...

New version of soil.
