Hey, I did an Everclear run and I figgured I'd take y'all for the ride. :^)

Here's what ya need:

1. Bud/leaf - I used bet 1/2 and 1oz of molded bud.
2. Iso/Everclear - Prolly better off using 97/99 iso alcohol, but I had an easier time droppin 40 on this here everclear (95% ethyl alcohol)
3. Jar
4. Coffee filter
5. Collection dish - Glass is best, but porcelain will work. NO PLASTIC.
6. Razor (not pictured)

That bud was DRY. I broke everything up (in the plastic saucer the buds are in), then poured the bud into the jar.

Then fill with everclear to ~80-90% of 'bud level'. Swish GENTLY for ~2-3 min. I keep the lid off to ensure I don't swish too hard.

Cont'd...

After you saturate the whole bit, cover the jar with the coffee filter, and drain into CLEAN collection plate. It will come out greenish. The less you swish, the less green. Green is bad.

After the solution is drained out of the jar, place the plate in a warm spot in a WELL-VENTILATED space. I put mine on top of my cablebox. The room has a ceiling fan, and I kept a window cracked. After ~12hrs, I'm left with a lil milky water. I soaked it up with a papertowel, being careful to not touch the 'goo'.

I left it on the cablebox another 36 hrs, and 'whipped' it a lil to expose more surface area (dry quicker). I figgure I'll leave it on the cablebox for ~a wk. After that, I'ma throw it in the freezer, and scrape it off. If it is TOO dry, I'll have to heat it...

Um, if you are gonna smoke it, allow for a few hours to 'recover'...:D

Mold bud?

Shame on you LOL!!

I do my trim exactly like you do...except mine never gets near the freezer. I scrape that shit up and smoke it....like NOW.

It's a good way for me since I never have that much trim to work with at any given time. I don't have room to freeze trim to save it.

BTW...the bud from that clone is VERY good smoke....It has that JP5 fuel taste. All head, not much body. Not giggly, but very chatty weed.

I just smoked a bit of my SSH f1 buds. I still have about 20-25grams. Been in the jar since February. In the jar, it smells very much like the old time Columbian from the 70's.

As for the green and small bits in the everclear oil...I could care less. I guess that makes me a weed heathen or something. I smoke all that shit LOLOLOL!!

SF! That sounds NUGLICIOUS - SSH cured since Feb. I thought I was spoiled today finding a 2 mo ssh bud :) LOL, the first time I ran 5-7g of 'early' indoor moldy bud, and I was able to scrape it in 6hrs. I got a 'shooter' marble sized piece. THIS time, I used some FIRE outdoor buds, and I should get ~5x's that much. It's just the sheer volume of everclear leaves a decent bit of water. The freezer will be to 'harden' it. If it is dry, I could just scrape it.

LOL you heathen! :D I used to break my friends balls NON STOP about 'putting plant matter in my (his) hash pipe...' Now I want a hash pipe... It's about settling. I was going to keep the oil pure, but I added some leftover bubble trichs/slurry. I'm sure some hash heads wouldn't even want to smoke my 'hash'. There are some folks who go crazy. Using 'flake' ice in a 9 bag setup, stirring the top only by hand... They say that under a microscope the hash is ~90% heads, but I look at mine in a pipe, not a scope...

Yeah that sounds similar to my #3 and #5 ssh's. Quick, small, tasty, frosty, sat dom high, not QUITE as complex taste/high as the hazies, but on the same path. I pull the #5 in ~10 days. She will be 9+wks, and I could pull her now if I wanted, but I'm cookin some seeds (f2's).

i just washed my trim with 99.9% ipa
will get a pic up of the end product soon as its done
good on you fella's

Hey I did another run last night, and I used 100% recycled product. I used the post bubble trim (gave up some of the lightest colored hash I've ever seen), and the post 8hr olive oil simmer. The oil smells like a peanut oil deep fryer, and the effect is the same - a healthy greasy coating on my brain...

LOL, it was a good idea to run the bubble trim, but not so much to use the oil trim. My house smells funny. :D I did pull all of the 'globs' out with a teaspoon, but the flavor is straight menthol peanut! It is actually smoother to smoke than the oil usually is one day after running it, but it smells fukked up, and is extra runny.

hey B

Nice lookin oil you got there , i'm sure it smokes very nice man ;)

Next time you do a run I would suggest u try to freeze the trim/bud and also try to do a quick wash , 10-30secs max , see if the quality gets better (You can rerun the trim afterwards in order to get any of the good stuff that may have been left behind) . I would also suggest you close the lid and shake bit vigorously but only for a quick wash.

Thanks for documenting and sharing bro , enjoy :D

a quick question for you scientists :) .. I have a plastic bucket (I needed something bigger than my jars) that I used to keep bud in, along with that I have a plastic ice cream tub that has also seen a fair bit of use, then theres my plastic grinder which is well coated... my question is (as there's a fair bit of "brown stuff" stuck to all this PLASTIC is, can I still wash it off, even tho it's not glass or will I just end up with some newport style rockie (ie taste of plastic)

thanks all
j

edit - obviously I'm not expecting anything more than a hit in my pipes worth , but I'm interested to try the technique all the same and dont have any "trim" as yet ;)

I guess it all depends on what type of plastic you use. I ve read that alcohol may/can dissolve some types of plastic , anyway contact time is whats really important .

In your case I d say do a 5-10sec quick wash to get the trichs and minimize any risk and use as little alcohol as possible just to be on the safe side. to be honest I believe smoking a pack of tobacco cigarettes with all the chemicals and thick paper can be equally or even more harmful.....

well I guess it can't hurt to try, and at the very least, all my stuff will be nice n clean eh :D

thanks barletta for the tutural. the only time I like a toke of oil or hash is first time in the day. After that doesn't seem to hit me right. But a spliff after is just right. I wish I could like it as much as you.I have 10 grams of that oily oil hehe. How about cooking with oil lol seriously though! Shogirl

No prob, sho. I got the info from some other threads anyway :)

Hey I got a question. Has anyone done a run with 70% iso? Even with 91%? As I understand the remainder is just water (30 or 9%...), so could I do a run and just be more conscious of evaporating the water off? The reason I ask is that: 1. Everclear is 40 bux a 1/2 gal, and many miles away; and 2. 70% seems to have a more instant effect in lifting the trichs/resin off of my fingers/tools/pipe.

I'm hoping that I could get more product for 2% of the solvent investment...

Hey b

I think the rest 30% or 9% is water , thats why it doesn't say on the label of the bottle that theres any other ingredient , if there was something apart from water it should be on the label .

You could do a test perhaps, fill a pyrex dip dish with a bottle and see after evaporation if there are any residues left in there .

One thing that comes to mind though is that the more water left in the oil the more difficult it will be to get rid of it completely when the oil becomes thicker and thicker/less runny , but try to use an artist's spade or something similar and try to make the oil as thin layered as poss so its got a larger surface .

Personally I 'd say try to use the best one but why not give the 70%iso a try with a small quantity of weed and see the results for yourself.

PS Try to see if you can get 100%iso from electronics stores , where I used to live they used to sell it there for cleaning electronics .

Yo, L :) I picked up some 70%, and it only lists water as a second ingredient. I was thinking - The last run I did, I rinsed the post-bubble trim, whish still must have had a few oz of water soaked in it. After I wash, I try to keep the collection plate bet ~100-130f. using my elec stove (~10 seconds on high, 3-4min off, repeat...). It generally takes a few hrs to evap 'everything' off, and I'm left with just a SUPER thin coating on the dish. I let it sit overnight and scrape in the AM.

I'm waiting on some trim to dry, but 2moro or the next day I'll be doing a bubble run 1st, but I'll rinse the trim and 'trich slurry' after. I'll let ya's know :D
