Hi Mark, Hi Mre
Thank you very much both of you for dropping by
To answer your Q's ,..well LaNina is not a very famous plant although its one of my personal favorites. One of the reason is the absence of NL and Skunk in the genetic makeup. Its a very fast haze cross mine took less that 8-10weeks flowering even the hazy phenos and the smell taste and high of some of the phenos is trully special.I recommend it to all sativa hybrid fans that look for something special. The yields are kinda low but I d still prefer to have 1 gram of a selected LaNina clone that 3 times more bud from other strains. Its that immediate sativa high rush and the fact that LaNina will leave you happy even after the high has worn off that makes me love it so much . I wouldn't say its the most potent MNS strain (ie less raw potency compared to SSH) but still very potent and pleasant high with personality if I can say so.
I just grew one pack , got 6 females, the 3 were very very nice. One of the six was culled as it was very unpractical with sparse calyxes growing here and there ..and single bladed leaves everywhere , had a very special haze smell though..had extremely trichome covered stems and branches but very ..very low yields..the reason it was culled in the first place. One of my 3 'keepers' was a 'hazy' pheno , the second was a very squat plant more on the BWidow side with indica looking bud structure. The last was a very potent BW sativa expressive plant , low yielding.. no hints of haze here but with lovely high profile.
Shanti crossed a haze female to a widow male, perhaps he could say a few things about this female Haze when he gets back from Indonesia.
La Nina is a very fast to be honest it needs like ~9wks flowering to fully mature, some phenos were faster even than Critical mass and Shit I grew side by side..this is one of the reasons it is so special to my eyes. Half of the seedplant females were grown under 10/14 light regime from seed and finished at ~10 weeks from sprouting. The other 3 were vegged for 3wks and topped just before switching, they flowered for ~ 9-9.5weeks.All phenos showed extreme trichome production from early on.As for tips growing it I d say it needs a good veg as its a fast finisher so has a short life cycle and top the plants to make it more bushy and compact. My beloved hazy pheno has a very unique 'clear' smell.Reminds me of 'humbrol' glue and its that powerfull that it makes you kinda dizzy and if you smell powerful enough you feel it down your stomach like if you smell fuel/petrol/benzine/solvent .Frosty airy buds with single calyxes stacked one on top of the other, extreme trich production.I guess it has som'thing to do with the BW genes!I definitely recommend this strain to anyone that looks for a special smoke. Not a commercial producer's plant , and needs careful selection but it is more than rewarding.
Hazy pheno:
No compact buds at all like other LN phenos but trully special smoke
And a favorite macro photo from this hazy La Nina pheno that I ve also posted in my macrophotography thread sometime ago:
