Hi L33t,

Very nice photos mate! I haven't heard too much about La Nina but your post has got me very intersted. Can you let us know any more about your experience with her - more specifics on the flavour, high, growth details, growing tips, etc.

Any info will be much appreciated.

Mark

L33t - those are some of the frostiest nugs ever!!! Wow. Thanks for sharing. Any more info on the quality of the high would be welcome. Well done!

Hi Mark, Hi Mre
Thank you very much both of you for dropping by

To answer your Q's ,..well LaNina is not a very famous plant although its one of my personal favorites. One of the reason is the absence of NL and Skunk in the genetic makeup. Its a very fast haze cross mine took less that 8-10weeks flowering even the hazy phenos and the smell taste and high of some of the phenos is trully special.I recommend it to all sativa hybrid fans that look for something special. The yields are kinda low but I d still prefer to have 1 gram of a selected LaNina clone that 3 times more bud from other strains. Its that immediate sativa high rush and the fact that LaNina will leave you happy even after the high has worn off that makes me love it so much . I wouldn't say its the most potent MNS strain (ie less raw potency compared to SSH) but still very potent and pleasant high with personality if I can say so.

I just grew one pack , got 6 females, the 3 were very very nice. One of the six was culled as it was very unpractical with sparse calyxes growing here and there ..and single bladed leaves everywhere , had a very special haze smell though..had extremely trichome covered stems and branches but very ..very low yields..the reason it was culled in the first place. One of my 3 'keepers' was a 'hazy' pheno , the second was a very squat plant more on the BWidow side with indica looking bud structure. The last was a very potent BW sativa expressive plant , low yielding.. no hints of haze here but with lovely high profile.

Shanti crossed a haze female to a widow male, perhaps he could say a few things about this female Haze when he gets back from Indonesia.

La Nina is a very fast to be honest it needs like ~9wks flowering to fully mature, some phenos were faster even than Critical mass and Shit I grew side by side..this is one of the reasons it is so special to my eyes. Half of the seedplant females were grown under 10/14 light regime from seed and finished at ~10 weeks from sprouting. The other 3 were vegged for 3wks and topped just before switching, they flowered for ~ 9-9.5weeks.All phenos showed extreme trichome production from early on.As for tips growing it I d say it needs a good veg as its a fast finisher so has a short life cycle and top the plants to make it more bushy and compact. My beloved hazy pheno has a very unique 'clear' smell.Reminds me of 'humbrol' glue and its that powerfull that it makes you kinda dizzy and if you smell powerful enough you feel it down your stomach like if you smell fuel/petrol/benzine/solvent .Frosty airy buds with single calyxes stacked one on top of the other, extreme trich production.I guess it has som'thing to do with the BW genes!I definitely recommend this strain to anyone that looks for a special smoke. Not a commercial producer's plant , and needs careful selection but it is more than rewarding.

Hazy pheno:

No compact buds at all like other LN phenos but trully special smoke

And a favorite macro photo from this hazy La Nina pheno that I ve also posted in my macrophotography thread sometime ago:

leet, I'm impressed with this quick grow and thanks for the pics and report. I especially appreciate your comment that the 'after stone' feels good - this is important. I found this to be the case with FemaleSeeds SkunkSpecial - little or no hangover !

You are right that comparatively it isn't a com breed. But if the La Nina is heavy in weight for its size then with a longer veg and maybe higher plant numbers .....

Thanks again dude. Chow for now

Yes I agree ,no hangover, is really important to me too. Most indicas but some sativas too , give me a bad hangover when I smoke too much. So I really enjoy strains that give you a clear next-day head.

I believe LaNina if vegged a bit or if you use high plant number and dial your selected pheno in you can get good yields like shanti says around 500g /m2.
I topped mine the days I switched and this strain didnt respond very well yield wise to that.So next time I 'll let her recover as she seems to need that before flowered unlike other strains that do ok.

I d reccomend LaNina to all people that love hazy smokes but dont want to have something with NL or SK.This is one of the reasons its a really special plant to me, its quite different to most haze hybrids in the market.

Hi growdaweed

L33tspeak haha :) Thanx for the kind words, I am glad you liked the macros, looking forward to seeing your plants ready, wish ya good luck with them. When you have the time I 'd love to hear your views on bio-dynamics.

Here is a funny thing I read on wiki about LeetSpeak recently:

''Leet originated within bulletin board systems in the 1980s, where having "elite" status on a BBS allowed a user access to file folders, games, and special chat rooms, often including archives of pirated software , pornography , or text files documenting topics such as how to construct explosives and manufacture illegal drugs.''
LOL ;)

Hi L33t!

Very, very good work..Hazey pheno is phenomenal..
I'm interested in this genetic long time..First version EL NINO (Haze X Super Skunk X White Widow) and new version LA NINA (Haze X White Widow) free of Super Skunk even more..Because her's genetics is almost as the NEBULA..Nebula genetics is composed of US HAZE dominated genetic line and Ingemar's MASTER WIDOW..Master Widow=White Widow cross in the 13th generation developed by Dutch breeder Ingemar..I'm grew many models during years (Paradise Seeds=Sensi Star,Belladonna,Dutch Dragon,Nebula..Dutch Passion=Mazar,Power Plant,Flo,Blueberry,Super Haze..Serious Seeds-Bubble Gum,Kali Mist..Green House=old White Rhino..Legends Seeds=L.U.I..Head Seeds=Casey Jones.......many klons..Peacemaker,Planck,Crop Star......)But NEBULA is (for Me) Most potent strain..Typically transcendental buzz..Very easy grow..From 20seeds 13 female..All were ABSOLUTELY uniform, and all plants looked to be the same pheno..Unbelievably stable genetics..Long lasting cerebral sativa high..and were ripe after 9weeks of flowering....Sorry I don't have scanner and pictures(Nebula) are in old camera..All the best 'P'

Periphery - interesting post, thanks for the info. I've grown Nebula (only one plant) and liked it - will be growing that one again before too long...

L33t - failed to comment a while back, but want to say I appreciate your excellent description of the high! I grabbed a pack of these to try as they sound so good. Yield isn't too important as I'm a personal grower for stash only.

grow kindly, .......MrE

Hey L33t, you think these will do okay in 4 litre pots while I look for a mom? From what you have said here the Haze doesn't influence growth like with SSH, yeah? I am sure any of em has the potential to show its lanky Hazy face though. I definitely am going to run the SSH seed plants in the 4L pots to keep any Haze dominant plants under control. Ya think it is a mistake for the LN? I am not worried about yield while I am sorting it out - I will still get a read on what plants yield the best if I do then all in the same size containers.

I should add that they are the wiiiide 4l, not the tall thin ones. They are only 6 inches tall but 9 inches across. I have always found wider is better than tall. I can always add a lot of perlite and just feed and water more, in the vein of hydro.

I took my recyclables to the recycling depot and there were like 20 4 litre pots and a bunch of various sized smaller ones in the plastic dumpster - it was perfect timing since I had half gallon and the next size up is 3 gallon.

If you think they won't do well lemme know, though i think they should be fine . I usually don't experiment with seeds but I think this will be fine while momma hunting. I guess I am more or less looking for some reassurance that this isn't a bad idea. I also needed a place to tell my dumpster diving score, haha.

Thanks !

What frost on those ladies man, great work with those. as obscure of a question as this is, how do you find the potency vs ssh? I ask cause I'm trying to find a sat with even more power than my ssh cut, but cant come close yet.

Hiya Ronin

I think 4 liter pots should do , usually I dont flower in smaller than 10liters , but have flowered in 1 & 3 liter pots few times with good results if I remember correctly , i think if you make sure that there are enough plants you wont have any yield loss. btw I believe Shanti himself uses 4 liter pots for his 42plant per light SOG style setup as well so they should do just fine .

Hiya Bigbuddy

Well the Hazy phenos of the LaNina can be very special .

The one I had found from a pack was up to par with the best ssh I ve grown, well maybe the LN has less raw potency , just a bit , but was equally good and unique. The taste and smell was very nice and I wish I had kept that plant, it was the best smelling hazy MNS plant I ve grown .

If you look something more sat expressive and trippy , for sativa lovers Neville's Haze is the one , its more trippy and more strong than SSH and LN but its a more difficult plant to grow and takes a month or so extra to finish. SSH is more practical but its also more 'hybridized' and also has SK genetics so its more of a compromise between quality and yield.

But having said that , in the end , its all down to selection , if you plant enough seeds you can find some very special hazy plants with any of the MNS haze hybrid strains. Its just due to the makeup , with NH and AfxHz or EQHz haze , you have more chances to find an extreme haze expression/something closer to pure Haze , than with SSH or MangoHaze in a small seed sample . With SSH and MH you have more chances of finding more practical keepers per pack.

Thanks for the reply man. I am not familiar with WW. I didn't know if it was one of those plants that needed a larger root system to do well.I have had plants in the past not do well in smaller pots as far as yield. I think with these being wide instead of tall will help. I worry changing stuff around - maybe I will do some in larger pots as well. I am guessing an airier mix and feed more may be a good idea?

Does growing in a pot that small have a big impact on yield? From past experience I believe the wider pots allow the plants to get wider but this seems small. Man, I get stuck in the house and I start over thinking stuff and freaking myself out!

I hate trying new things with seed !!!

This thread is what got me so excited about this strain. I have 2 packs to look through - I hope mine turn out as well as yours!

Thanks for your advice.

L33t, Hi! Your pictures are always top quality, and I feel a book deal around the corner? That LaNina has always interested me especially free from skunk lines sounds awesome. I hope to get a pack soon, real soon! always great to see your photography skills. peace, resinbud
