Haze A or Haze C in Afghan Haze crosses ?

This has been asked for at least a decade, at one time nevil was going to do a strain data base even though he was out of the loop for some time, never happened. It would take shantibaba an hour to type out the true code but he obviously deems it unimportant with all the time passed after ALL of the inquiry on the subject. But good luck, maybe you can break through. How many "afghans" do they have and why be so vauge?

A good portion of what's offered here is from seeds given by nevil, you can draw the conclusion I'm sure.

Hello topheavy420

Well too bad Nevil is not here anymore, i will be happy to talk with him :)

yes, i have seen all the quotes from shantibaba directly, and then read the other quotes that contradict what he has said in the past.

so which is the truth?
i tend to think it would be the newer information, but when all you guys post these quotes it doesnt say when it was posted.

Ive pmed shanti directly to ask these questions, however it is not as important to him to answer my questions as it is for him to do whatever else he has going on.
so i will wait and be patient and he can clear up the confusion when he feels like it.
i wanted to order more seeds, but i will wait. no need to support businesses that do not have good customer service. i have more seeds than i could ever grow myself, and more friends with more seeds than i could ever count. One of the things i used to like the most about mns was the open and knowledgeable sharing of information. if you dont have that, and i can find higher quality in other seeds, what am i wasting my time here for? maybe i just need to look through more packs to find something that interests me, but it starts to feel a little bit like sensi.
had the quality and reputation.
but the proof is in the seed.
i havent found proof of anything, and knowledge about pedigrees wouldnt change that.

so if mango haze does not have A in it, at least we can agree that AB does not contain the highest percentage of haze A, that would be left to nevils haze.

Hello jack hairy, i share the same feeling as you, too bad, i think we will have to wait another decade lol i believed there were no breeding secret at mr nice seedbank...

“Truth is not what you want it to be; it is what it is, and you must bend to its power or live a lie.”

hello CannaFish,

i will just be happy to know the truth :)

well no hard feeling for me, i just find all these things a little....strange, and im not alone thats for sure.

I will try to contact Shantibaba or the mr nice crew.

If Mango Haze does not have any Haze A in it, but the Afghan Haze father of AB is Afghan x Haze A, then both Neville's Haze and Angel's Breath would be 25% Haze A.

And if grandma had balls she'd be grandpa! :D

I've PM'd Shanti about this Afghan Haze male question and asked him to participate in the thread. MNS has always supported and encouraged breeders; I think this issues is import to those who would like to try to look for plants that have Haze A qualities in the F2s or F3s of a strain. It would be nice to know what strain to start with. Angel's Breathe? The Doors? Afghan Skunk Haze? Neville's Haze? Probably an old A5 cut or NH if you can find one.

yeah i wasnt even thinking about that, anything with a half haze A parent would be the same percentage as NH would be. but at least with Nh you have less other stuff mixed in.
and thats what really matters.
percentages are just numbers, but the effects of other genes being present can have a much bigger effect on the outcome than the numbers might lead you to believe.

It's because the beta testers were different than the eventual release. Betas used a different father than ssh, commercial release uses same father as ssh.

Yep !
And Hempy sang from the hill top re Mango Haze . That wasn`t even the same as what`s sold .

Inscrutable is the word that springs to mind .

Thanks for sharin

EB .

what i dont get about that is if it was a good cross, why not sell that as well? there are a bunch of other combinations of the haze hybrids that could be made.

I know you don't trust anything Hempy said EB, but if what he said was right, that the testers were different than the official release, and the difference was the male (sk hz A vs sk hz C) then that would explain a lot.
It would mean that both descriptions were correct.

I have seen Shanti distill and generalize a strain description to the point of meaningless gibberish, but I have only ever seen him outright lie about a line one time.
That was calling Mullum Madness a pure haze, not A or C.

Besides that though, he usually just avoids answering the question by feeding back a bunch of unintelligible gibberish when asked something he wants to keep to himself.

I used to think he had someone else here posting under his account who did not speak english as his first language that wound up answered a lot of those types of questions, and that the language barrier was why it was impossible to decipher.
Then I though, maybe Shanti has spent so much time in Spain and india and exotic locales that he doesn't even speak like an Aussie any more.

In the end though, I decided both of those theories were wrong, concluding that the reason he puts so much effort into not answering questions is because he is afraid competition will produce something with his genetics that outperforms his own work if they have a better idea of the pedigree.

I mean, why write a paragraph of nonsense that doesn't answer a simple direct question when a pedigree can be written in a single line like a mathematical equation?

If anyone else has a better theory, I'd love to hear it.
This is my 8th year reading and posting up here, and that's the best guess I've got.

Hi All

well back from Spannabis and was able to read a fair bit of certain threads i have not had time to do previously.

I must say reading some of the theories and reasoning behind a lot of your opinions , well they sound kind of unusual.

Mullum Madness was at least a 3/4 haze in the form we had it and the closest plant i felt represented a pure Haze, if you consider this as me lying outright Old Spice it would be great to know why, as in the mid 80s when it was been grown in Main Arm and around those areas its scent was already apparent before you even saw the plant...but always happy to see photos or hear info as to why you believe as you do? Funny also to hear you think i am flowering up description without saying anything...kind of unusual so many companies blindly copied my descriptions word for word or paraphrasing...but they had nothing of original plants to begin with ....so you see it really is ok to give opinions about peoples work, but based on facts rather than theories. Not sure how old you are and what experience you have had with cannabis but maybe taking a more polite tack in asking for clarity with specific questions in mind may be a better way to be heard and taken seriously.

I got Nevil and my notes from many years ago written in our hand writing and maybe one day put it up to curb your enthusiasm and put you on a clear path, but for now it seems your theories are fueling new myths as is normal in this industry...and it is amusing at times to see how you all think.

The thing is that words as important as they are, really are nothing against the proof of the seed you are using. So maybe explain projects you are all doing and why with photos , so people follow your work and can add comments to help rather than hinder...as this is what forums are for in the end. Most of you were not around or ever saw plants we used as mothers and fathers...so it is much harder to prove historical references with this situation in fact.

Speaking of things, I have made a new version of G13 widow in seed form ready for testing...so if any of you wish to become testers of this seed then maybe watch the boards as to the details....

While i really do not mind people discussing, it is not so nice to be disrespectful to your hostsite...it reads badly and reflects upon he who writes such material. As i always say, if you got nothing nice to say then say nothing....

all the best Shantibaba

so... that angels breath pedigree...
and a little info on what strains use afghan haze A...

this is what we are talking about, you write a whole paragraph on spend lots of time and effort to respond to someone questioning you on why you called mullumbimby madness a haze, and you think this person is being rude yet you waste your time in response...

and then the members who are waiting for answers dont get answers.

I'd love to see the notes from you and nevil, especially the selection of the original sister in the hood, 5hzC. Check out my 5hz thread as I feel I've found an all haze C female.

I don't think you calling MM a haze is that far of a stretch, it obviously isn't the haze line but very similar. I think if you just typed the code for the strain descriptions it would go a long ways. I'm sure it would confuse some but it may clear up some of the question in pm and open forum.

When you and nevil hooked up it changed the scene and people are still curious about it as the Internet wasnt so prevalent then. It is now and if breeders aren't documenting their paths they are questioned so I think you could see where these things are butting heads now.

"...and it is amusing at times to see how you all think."

This isn't so nice and I'm curious as to which members this was directed at?

The funny things is you read strain descriptions on say angels breath and it talks about all these smorgasbord of fruity flavors then drop 150 bucks for a pack of seeds , send a private msg asking what should I be looking for in a pheno get no response , then finally a couple people do a grow and one says they taste like leather and the other says it taste like gold what ever in the hell that means , what is appealing about that and for a help board the main help guy is practically nonexistent.

Bahahahaha.... that's funny... out of context but still funny man, well done... I'm as big a hypocrite as any and full of shit as most, I know that of myself... words are just that though, lol...

Comment was made for auction communication smartypants :):)

@Growstone, I'm glad you also saw the humor in your earlier quote and took that in the way I intended. :)

It was out of context, of course, but the point is that a lot of Shanti's customers on this forum feel the exact same way about his apparent inability to tell us what the genetic lineage is for his strains. I get that the "proof is in the seed." I also get that Shanti probably perceives his business interests may not be best served by a complete disclosure. Is the Haze C male dead? Is Neville's Haze and Afghan Haze made from F2s (or above) of the originals? If the answers are yes, then I can understand that he has little to gain from disclosing that information. But I'd like to think if any of the original parents are dead, then Shanti is using carefully selected and tested filial generations from the original parents and not changing the formulas on the fly, like a lot of other breeders. If so, he could still answer the simple question about whether the Afghan Haze male is Haze A or C and we'd all be happy. Alternatively, he could tell us that he's not going to tell us and while we might not all be happy, at least we could stop wasting our time.

Is shanti going to your site and saying shit is he Marcus? Works both ways? Man can say whatever in his own house, your on his property, a guest. dont like what somebody says that your visiting, that's an easy fix, fuck off (just an example, not meant at you)

Topheavy.. having a sense of humour and that being tickled by comments, that offends you? You a yank? From Cali? The state of Pollitical Correctness for the insane.. id suggest he is talking about me, you , any member who speaks shit that's not based in fact but merely members showing their assholes or giving opinions (if that's easier to understand)
Haze is a verb not or rather, before its a noun..

I'm a million miles from cali and being politically correct but nice try to paint such a cute little picture of me. Tells me all I'd ever care to know you you. I didn't engage with you in the first place so it would seem your the one that wears the panties and might be a wee bit tight.

Fight among your selves all you like , i do enjoy a good laugh but it still does not address some of the underlying problems here . If I can't get answers for the genetics I'm buying what am I paying the big bucks for?
