On this NYC Piff/Haze thing, many people have stated that it's a Colombian hybrid called 'The Black' that is grown in Florida and shipped up the interstate to NYC. There are people who have that Black cut and have done grow threads on it. It yields huge and has that typical incense smell many Colombians have. I'd bet that is the source of this NYC Haze, too many people have wrote about it and no-one has been able to suggest a credible alternative source for the NYC Haze.

In Holland there is still a lot of Haze but it's nearly all SSH. The Amnesia cutting that's been all the rage the last couple of years is supposed to be an NL dom SSH, I've seen it in friend's gardens and smoked lots of it, I think it's SSH, a 9-10 week NL dom pheno. The A5 and C5 cuttings still turn up, I saw 'S5 Haze' in the Zoo in Zutphen and when I asked, it was C5. So if you like hybrids with only a bit of Haze influence in them, there's plenty in Holland. However, for anything more Hazy than those there are few options. I saw Neville's Haze for sale in T'Bunkertje in Apeldoorn, that was not bad. They also have Nev's Haze in Cafe 420 just off the Damrak in Amsterdam, again not bad. Dampkring still has some good Haze hybrids, I like their Mexican Haze a lot, it's A5 x Mexican male.

I have smoked Amnesia Haze in London, and in Amsterdam, it was basically the same in both places. It seems to be more crystalized than SSH, but much less stony, and to my palate, barely tastes like haze. It does remind me of NL, now that you mention it.
From what my friends told me it was like the no 1 shit to have in UK last year.

Cocktail farnk just confirmed yesterday that the blacks isnt wat he grew up on in NYC his sample came from money mike,Ive always thought the same myself .Just couldnt confim it becaz i havnt had a Sample from a confirmed source but have had wat many called blacks .The blacks was coined id say som years later than our church or franks .Remember like kush nowadays there are soo many varieties it might surprise most .Some might say haze is still the most sought after strain in Nyc.

I bet NYC Haze is related to Seedbank Haze. The timing is about right, and generally speaking, nothing can compete. We just called it Holland Haze in the west.

As for Holland, I went there for the first time in 05 thinking I would get a bunch of seeds, but I was so disappointed with the smoke... I didn't even bother, I didn't want to adulterate my strains.

SSH of that time was the best I could find, and to me, as compared to the Seedbank Haze, it just didn't have that haze punch that I was used to. It was like a watered down candystore variety of haze. Strange because genetically it has twice as much haze in it as my 5hz hybrids, but in terms of Haze flavor and potency?

I don't know, I've thought about it a lot since I joined here. I think the problem is SK1. It is so dominant, haze gets lost.

I have found that this is the case with most strains. I have crossed my 5hz cut with so many different strains over the years, and I have found, that while the haze flavor always bleeds through to a certain extent, most stuff I have crossed it with, really waters it down. I have found a very few strains(3todate), that the 5hz character seems to totally dominate, and none of them were skunky.

Amnesia Haze isn't the same thing as Amnesia. Amnesia Haze was made by Soma and he has never come clean about what the lineage is, he tells some BS about breeding it for Cambodian and others. Amnesia Haze is probably the Amnesia (SSH) cutting crossed to the G13Haze male Soma used in many crosses. The original keeper Amnesia Haze cutting of Soma's was awesome but he lost it after falling out with the people that held it for him. They passed the cutting out to people to piss Soma off which is how it got to the UK.
