Incidentally, there is a guy in Canada called doubleds who really rocks one of those recirc DWC bucket setups with bare bulbs, he was one of two guys who invented a motorised sifting screen, it was featured in HT and they reckoned they took two of them to Amsterdam for the first cup in 1987. The story is one was to be a prize for the cup, they say the other one was given to Neville in exchange for cuttings of his two best indicas - G13 and NL5. Doubleds still has both cuttings and has done many detailed grow threads showing them grown as huge trees in his recirc DWC system. Just wondering if Neville remembers this and can confirm it's true. If it is, it means doubleds still has the original G13 cutting. Few years back I sent doubleds some seeds that were an inbred derivation of 'Pacific' G13 x ('Airborne' G13 x Black Widow) a line that was notorious for producing mostly male plants (the few females to be had were killer) so that he could make a cross to his G13 cutting, last I heard he had grown em out and selected a couple of choice males but hadn't had time or space to devote to pollinating the G13, I should get in touch with him, I'm sure the original G13 is something that would be worth preserving and spreading.
P.S. Sorry for taking things a bit off-topic!
This is a cross of my super heavy yielding 1986 g13 and Subcool's Spacedawg male (Snow Dawg x Space Dude). Expect some very heavy ladies with a hashy/mango/cherry smell and taste. Super vigourous , this strain has it all. A must have for every garden.
I was looking for a couple things with this cross.
1. add taste and smell, you can barely smell g13 until its harvested and dried.
2. not so important but branch strength, anything i can do to try and stop branches from falling over.
3. not as important either but to make the buds more white. The gland heads on the g13 are tiny so it doeasnt give off the appearance of white strains.
People have thrown a lot of fancy names at me as potential candidates for the grail mother, but I really don't know of any substitute for smoking and testing candidates. The only person to put his money where his mouth is is Kanga. Of course, he devised an evil plan, to see if I really know what I'm talking about, by mixing his varieties up and getting me to test his varieties blindfolded as it were, but tireless work on my part (my dedication knows no boundaries) lead me to his Oaxacan as the stand-out amongst a mixed, but excellent collection of buds.im curious to know if any selections /or serious thoughts on this project have been made ?
Thats what I'm talking about Nevil...I like the way your thinking! The NH x Oaxacan cross is in the pipeline. My concern is that the Oaxacan buds I smoked were rather skinny. I'm assuming (for the time being) that it is a late flowering variety and was harvested a little early for this reason. If this is true, the resultant cross may be only suitable for those with a subtropical/tropical climate to work with, or the indoor purist who is prepared to suffer to achieve excellence. (put your hand down Hempy)
An equally promising avenue would be to cross the Oaxacan to a Nl5 line female and then put the best daughter to the NH male. Nl5 is very resinous, but somewhat neutral in aroma and flavour. I'd expect that the "O" would still come through strongly, but the NL influence will make it earlier, heavier and more resinous. Actually, I think that this cross would be worthwhile as an end product as is, but to me it is just a step towards the ultimate hybrid.
The Nl5xO X NH offers line-breeding to the NL5, without doubling up on anything else. I'm looking for the pheno that is leaning towards the Columbian side of haze C blending with the fruity sweet side of the 5xO, while picking up the resin and early flowering characteristics of the NL5. I can almost taste it!
Jim Ortega kindly donated some Hawaiian sativa, which I'd also like to cross with the 5xO. (Hawaii 5 O), which could also lead to the grail, but I'm getting ahead of myself.
Being cursed with a fertile imagination, I don't suppose that I'll ever be able to retire.
The biggest obstacle I face in moving ahead is a certain person forgetting his wallet (private dig).

I do. It's all of you. It's one of the reasons I'm writing now. I am concerned that the internet "kill switch" is coming. I have two main reasons for going public now. One is to see what we can put together working as a team and the other is to pass on knowledge of what I have done in the past and my thought processes as to why. As a child, I was privileged to have a breeding mentor. If I can be of assistance to you, in the same way then I will have "Paid it Forward".I hope like hell you have someone you're passing all this knowledge down to

You see, I love all of you too, for I see you as other versions of myself and therefore you deserve my best efforts.

I promise to carry my part of the torch, regardless of the obstacles put in front of me! I'm a novice to your standards, but I'm here with open ears, eyes, and heart. Thank you, I couldn't ask for a better "gift". Some people are interested in material things, I'm here on a quest for knowledge, and what you posses, I need to make me feel whole. Lesser be the man who leads his life with his emotions and not his consciousness.
Don't be embarrassed Bushy, this is good news.I feel embarrassed to say this Nev, but some of the Oaxacan buds I've had this year haven't been skinny at all:
The NH x Oaxacan cross is in the pipeline
This is the one I have tested recently and believe it to be truely authentic. Bouquet and flavour is sweet/spicey cedar with fermented berries...ahhh
