Ah the Oaxacan.....one of my favourites

When I lived in Norcal in the 80's I was lucky enough to sample their Haze, my friends there were very connected to the Santa Cruz boys due to something to do with Thai sticks

....I even did a cross using the Haze and their Skunk ( my Mendo Girl ). I also brought a clone back from Oaxaca, along with seeds from the same stock used to grow the 500 plants that I saw.
Now the Oaxacan that I have from that era has a sweet piney incense, possible fruity smell and taste.....you would rather just suck on the joint than smoke it because of its flavours. It has a electric, trippy, trance like stone and longlasting.
Now with the Haze, this had the Thai like taste and smell and was common to the sticks I used to smoke here in the 70's and very similar to the Mullum, but not the same trippy high that has, I always refer this to what I call old school.
Now I am not going to say that this is the same haze that has been written about and talked about as I was not around then to compare them both, so I will leave it at that.
I also have not had the chance to sample all the different Mexican strains that are and were around so again no comparision to what you guys are talking about, to what I have......but I do believe that this Oaxacan was very common to what was around during that era, its just that some was excellent and some was just seedy crap.
Remember guys this is just my own personal experience and I am not trying to prove anybody wrong, just a bit of chit ,chat...cheers K
