a nice 3 day holiday weekend

Almost time to get out the tiny artist brushes, and start painting some special pollen on select labeled branches.

Blue Crush ( Salmon Creek big bud clone x Orange Crush) x LS1 (Blue Money)

This one is from the same branch, but has another dad. This cross was made maybe 4 years ago, with one of our favorite females from humboldt seed. There were 3 dads used that run. LS1 blue, Lavender Lights, and Maple Leaf.

We think this one is the son of Lavender Lights( Soma#10 lavender x Northern Lights) Keep in mind these are from old stock.
Purple Crush ( Salmon Creek big bud clone x Orange Crush)x( Soma#10 lavender x Northern Lights)

Son of LS1

LS1

We have a female seedling of 100% pure LS1 this year. I think it may have been the very last seed. The plant is about 9 inches tall now. I would love to run a whole tent full of this plant. Even untested, I would bet good money that this plant will perform. I wouldnt sell that plant for an ounce of Gold.

Remember the Haze pollen selection I have? Nevilles, Mango, OThaze, Oaxacan/Durban,etc..... She (Blue Money) is getting knocked up bigtime this year.

Historically, this plant produces rock hard deep blue nugg buds of perfumey sweet black hash flavors, with blue fruit overtones. She grows short, and usually is a darker color of green with a blue tint. Her children are always off the hook too!

Doc, I am speachless

Here is an HHG mother clone, the tall lanky one, pictured to the left of her giant daughter, pheno 1 of OakHz/HHG from seed.

Beautiful girls Joshua. I love the amber color of the closeup. Is that color just the light? I assume those girls are still clear/cloudy?

BTW, that does HHG stand for? What are the parents for that?

Thanks!

Thanks Captn

It is Seedbank NL5Haze X Oldschool varieties of California Outdoor.

HHG stands for Humboldt Haze Giant.

Oakhz is an HHG IBL bred for indica characteristics, It is very hazy both in flavor and effect.

The HHG mother pictured above is highly sativa dominant, the father was a slightly sativa dominant Oakland Haze, the Daughter pictured above is the result of this cross. I would call her slightly sativa dominant.

That amber color is the lighting. There are some amber trichs in there but the lighting hides them. I don't have any pics of that plant with other lights, but the F2 Oakland Haze is similar, in this clearer picture you can see the small percentage of amber trichs:

Nice buds Josh!

Oakland.... My Pot doctor is in Oakland. They always treat me real good there.

I think this one is Nevilles Haze in the sky.

I went an picked out a really nice male plant just now. Out of 3 LA Conf/Mango Haze (Mangola) My eyes immediatly went to this pheno. My Son picked the same. The others are going down the disposal. It was kind of big to transport. Its here now. Ill grab a pic of it for you later. That will be a wonderfull cross to pollinate the Nevilles Haze, and Mango haze with. Some pretty wild stuff to say the least.

I took this pic an hour ago. This is what Im smoking tonight.

This is the LA Conf pheno I was so fortunate to find in seed. It is the Mother of LA Conf/MangoHaze (Mangola) Now tell me that wont breed good with a dose of quality Haze pollen........

Thanks Josh. That is actually exactly what I had guessed it stood for. I must have read it somewhere and forgotten.

One thing that really strikes me about those pics is the size of the gland heads Joshua. VERY BIG.

It seems like a lot of the macro trich pics I see these days reveal very small gland heads on long stalks. Have you ever incorporated resin gland characteristics in your personal selections for breeding?

Sentinal Jumping spider

There is at least one of these on every plant out there.
They keep the plant clear of pests

Look at his hairdoo. Isnt that a crop top doo? He is in the center of the pic

I select for potency.

My cut of Seedbank NL5Haze had the largest tricomes I have ever seen. The most potent varieties found within my hybrids tend to have inherited this trait.

The F2 Oakland Haze pictured above has trichomes of a similar size. It is overwhelmingly stoney, and ultradense. Even so it is not nearly as potent as the Oakland haze/HHG pictured above which actually has smaller trichomes. However the HHG mother clone has trichomes around the same size as those F2 Oakland Haze trichomes, and it is the most potent of the lot.

Also Pheno 1 of the Oakland Haze/HHG is not my favorite, my favorite is pheno 3(as pictured below) which does have comparable sized trichomes to the F2 Oakhz.

OakHz/HHG Pheno 3

oakhzhhg3a.JPG

This pheno here of OakHz/HHG is my favorite of the progeny I have sampled so far, and it rivals the HHG except it is a little more debilitating and not so uplifting. So far HHG remains my overall favorite, although it isn't quite a fair compitition because seedlings are competing with a clone.

It is interesting to note however that the strongest strains are not necessarily those with the best trichome profile. Take the Oakland Haze line for example. This is also an HHG line but it has been bred for several generations for indoor propagation, and it has very indica dominant characteristics, while maintaining a somewhat NL5haze appearance, taste and quality of high.

For example, the original OakHz which was an IBL bred for indoor production, while it is much stronger than any Indica I have ever tried to date, it just doesn't have the potency of some of my more haze dominant lines, despite having a denser trichome profile.

But the point is even though I am more interested in potency, and I consider trichome profile to be a secondary characteristic of this primary function, and although this isn't always the case, I have noticed that there tends to be a correlate between potency and trichome size and density, at least within these hybrids.

Understand. Chemotype trumps phenotype, always.
Just wondering if you had noticed the same thing in other strains that I have.

That HHG/Oakland haze sounds like a labor of love.
Is that your work Joshua?

I have some oHaze x NL5 hybrid seeds coming to me right now.

Heres a Lavender#10 x NL5 (We call it Lavender Lights)

Its a girl. We have a bulk of these seeds. Every plant has been awesome. They were made probably 7 years ago in Humboldt

So, I was kind of bummed this morning

The Bad news: My big seedling, La/Oaxacan/Durban that showed female went herm. I pulled her out this morning after coffee. Salty coffee from my tears.

I transplanted all clones this morning including a baby Blue Crush Male. Most had rooted.

Then, to treat myself, I went through some seeds and planted a bunch!

Snowbud ( Giant peach colored seeds, twice the size of all others)Cradled in bud.
Lavender lights/LS1
Headband S1s
Old black mexican or Columbian seeds
Maui Oaxacan/Durban
Unknown sativa from attic grow 4 years ago
Lavender Crush/LS1
Mekong Haze
Unknown seed labled Haze Blue (Maybe skunkHaze/Blue Crush)
Most of these besides Mekong haze and maui are very old crosses and old seed
I feel better already!
