Damn, bushweed - you have a rough life, bro, let me tell you!! YOu ever need a break, I'll gladly fill in bro - free of charge - the environment would be payment enough!!!:D You guys rock!!! Keep sending in the pics - I'm making a screensaver out of "Bushweed and Kanga's Sativa Giants" - sometimes just chillin and watching those images slowly wind their way past really relaxes me, bro!! Some beautiful camera work coupled with a great eye in fantastic surroundings makes for terrific pictures, my friend!

Well that last post might have sounded like I was being a smart arse. Truth is Nev and Kanga are already working on a hemp sativa/Dutch indica super hybrid, as this recent photo can attest..

:D

Good lord man.
I wonder What became of this project?

They must have been away from the forum for longer than I thought...shit those guys have aged! I hope they can hang in there to finish the project :D

Greetings all grail readers,

Shout out to kanga, any updates with the progress of the grail. How's you and Nevil doing? I have been hearing a few things regarding the grail that has gotten me pretty exited, is there anything that you could contribute?

Best Regards

sXi

i just sent nevil a question asking about this,
iwonder what the rest of your guys opinions are.

Haze C is the only pure haze thats alive and known,
And NL5 x Haze A may be the best option for tha A side.
But is nevils haze the best way to put them to use?

I was thinking that Haze C could be combined to the Mullumbimby Madness, and you would have a pure sativa with no inbreeding issue.

If they found a good kariba male, and hit the NL5 x Haze A they could get a nice plant that also has no inbreeding issue.

then when the two lines were brought together, maybe there would be good combining with the A and C being brought back together, with less inbreeding than Haze C going right at NL5 A.
it would be a little like mango haze with mm instead of skunk, and kariba added on the moms side.

im sure plenty of other combos could be made.
im just wondering if maybe since C is the only pure haze left,
maybe a whole line of Haze C crosses should be made while its still possible.

it sure is easy to breed from my couch;)

Jack, there actually is no such thing as pure Haze at Mr. Nice. Nevil himself stated all the plants from the seeds he got from Sam were Haze Hybrids.

well, you know what i mean, the closest thing to pure haze,
C definately has some goods.
A could make some good things, if it were still around.
we dont want to slide backwards.
Wouldnt it be best to make all the crosses while we can, for the future?

5A x kariba
5A x mullumbimby madness
5A x thai
5A x whatever else they deem worthy...

kariba x C
mullumbimby madness x C
thai x C
whatever else x C

sounds like a good base to preserve some of these things.

Think about Nevil's objectives for grail - he was looking to channel the Haze A/C ancestors which he believes are most likely Thai and have more affinities with the Haze A male (or rather his best progeny). Nevil's Haze has combined both males with the NL5 mother of multiple superior hybrids. This combination has proven to produce a high proportion of excellent plants in a given population. NL5 Haze A would be an option but it would take an extra generation or so plus progeny testing to get to a similar point. In this case, you would be outcrossing an F1 hybrid which will tend to throw to the extremes as opposed to being crossed back into the same line through a different individual which will tend to do more toward setting the type.

You would think that would have been an obvious thing. I asked shanti about crossing some of his other males with his Mullum line but apparently nothing else has crossed well with it. You would have thought something else in the catalogue would have sparked but I guess not.

You're hitting the nail on the head with this in my opinion. What is happening with the Haze C male?! Maybe Shanti has some big surprises in store with the next auction lot. Surely the best way to ensure Haze lives on is to keep breeding with it. That's what Nevil's onto (his first priority since getting back into the swing of things) but he's not just trying to reproduce it - he's doing his best to make it better.

it sure is easy to breed from my couch;)
Ain't that the truth! :D

with nevils haze, the best NL5A was probably used.
it was heavy on the A for sure.
crossing directly with C creates an inbreeding coefficient of 37.5% nevil says.

crossing the 2 haze lines with other strains may keep any deleterious effects from inbreeding at bay, until they are finally brought back together. by then, they will be much less related, and therefore less negative effects from inbreeding.

as long as we are talking about preserving genetics,
i would think it would be important to make all the A crosses they can,
NL5A x skunk A
NL5A x afghan A
old NL5A x new NL5A
there might be a couple more, im not sure what A plants they still have.

and some ac crosses i havent seen before or heard about.

NL5A x skunk C
NL5A x afghan C
NL5A x NL5 C
NL5C x afghan A
Afghan C x skunk A
Afghan C x afghan A
Skunk C x skunk A
Skunk C x afghan A

i wonder if these have been tried before.

I think its a great idea aswell ,Who knows how long Haze C male will be around .That last shot from Kash look like she has seen better days .

It seems that Nevil is headnig this direction with his best NH F1's

I recall Nevil speaking about using different haze blood / others parents not directly related to Hz A / C .I love to hear what Nevil thinks of Tom hills haze an what they could do with it down under .More soo the Ace OT haze which seems to need that climate to show full potential ,imagine what could be produced aswell as im curious as to Nevils opinion on the strains .

Now im all for the idea of a pure landrace such as the ones being tested out (Oaxacan /Thai /Kariba ) but i think considering this is the ultimate haze hybrid that all the available haze lines should have been some of the first to be explored .Such as those mentiond above an there are a few others

Obviously you an many others know im thrilled the parents he is using are carring the Frankincense/incense trait that i love .I truly hope this isnt just a private project an its made availble in the future .

The thought of MM benig crossed to other strains ,preferrably IMO outside of the available or common mns varities is a great idea .I dont think its because they havnt turned out great has to be somthing else .From what we see from Kanga an Bushy id bet thats far from the issue .Knowing the heavy thai presence imagine Sams haze hybrids crossed to that beast MM x Thunk

they've been at it for a while now,
i would be surprised if they didnt try those mixes already.

shanti's mm and kangas are different, if C didnt cross well with shanti's it might do better with kangas.

kanga has some good crosses with mm.

.

Others have spoke about this before .

I think its important to keep all HzA hybrids alive to preserve the HzA qualities.I imagine an all female line could be made by using one of the fem techniques such as gibberellic acid

There is no new NL5HzA ,the new offering uses HzC

There is G13A an There are a few other possibilites im not sure of such as hawiian /S.african /swazi /Durban / paki /Hp

it might be too late for the old and new NL5A cross.

shanti selected a new NL5A(2) from old seeds to create his AC male, right?
im sure there was male counterparts, but he may not have saved them...

it would be awesome if g13A could be resurrected.

g13A x nl5C?
cool

Thats right my brother ,i forgot about that .

I cant imagine why he wouldnt have saved her ,if he lost it thats another story .

Now we gotta start a poll who would like to see the A5 old x NL5A(2) :D

Well its alive Unc Yosemite Sams has her ,as for it be made available is another question but im sure Shanti has old seeds from Nevil .That along with the old 88 G13Hp an hashplant haze are what id love to see reproduced .Nevil actually spoke of the old G13hp possibly being reworked
