I planted 39 Shit's on the 24th and now have 29 healthy seedlings.
Six of them popped in the first 3 days, 20 the next day and 3 stragglers since then.
All I did was stick them in 2" coco cups filled with fox farm ocean floor and topped with perlite. Kept the tops moist with water and Hygrozyhme and a propagation dome. The tray and dome where placed next to a humidifyer that stays in my veg room.
2/3's success ratio isnt bad when I know that they're coming from the best breeder in the world.
Thats why I cant and never will understand breeders that are selling these "5" packs or even funnier 2 seed sampler packs. What the heck are you gonna get with 2-5 seeds??? Unless your an amateur hobby grower what do you expect to end up with 2-5 seeds? Take black widow for instance....someone buys a pack and only plants 5, that person grows them winds up with 3 females (this is assuming they ALL popped). Now the person picks the best female and uses her for a mother.
This is what is bringing the marijuana trade in the gutter. Because the mother that was picked from the 3 females might be the best of 3, but I bet the farm that if the person grew the entire pack out they'd find the mother they picked from their 3 females is CRAP compared to what they'd find in a selection of 20-50. So that person grows out his poorly selected strain and everyone gets inferior black widow. Bringing the overall quality of proven genetics down. Some ppl don't have the time, some ppl dont have the space. But to me, if your gonna do something, then do it right. 2 seed sampler packs LMFAO! I almost choose some barney's strains till I noticed that he sells "5 packs" and most of his genetics are 100% female. CRAP!
Lots of ppl don't get the fact that seeds are living things. This is not directed at catalyst or any MNS member. But seeds are a crapshoot. Theres so many variables that arent in our favor that can screw with your success rates. The only thing a smart person can do is research your vendor, make sure that theyre in it for the passion and not the money, and cross your fingers that nothing screws up. I think more seeds are destroyed in transit than anything. I worked at a UPS they dont give a crap about anything, they may be using your seed package as a frisbee in the snow while theyre on break, or it could be wedged under a 200lb box.
