female Seed verse Reugular Seed flower shots...

beautiful plants

Last pic before the pick...
Afghan Haze x Mango Haze*

this plant is aromatic at a distance,floral/fruity aroma,
grape juice sweetness on the tongue,
thick mind fog effect,
Expando Weed!!!
if one was to be offered a puff of this fine herb and was seasoned enough to know the difference,
then one could believe it to be a
Juicy Fruit Thai Pheno type...
but We all know she was born from
Afghan Haze x Mango Haze...Excellent Combination,
I bet the Mango x Afghan Haze {Angel Breath} will be even better.

Super Silver Haze clones {middle and right plant}
g13ww x Afghan Haze seed {left plant}

ok now, will do a good blind test with some old timers after a prope cure in me humidor for a few weeks...

C ya

Seems like you have everything "dialed in" to perfection....no sign of stress at all on those lovely ladies....they appear to be adequately fertilized with no nute burn at all...very nice job:D....do you list your fert schedule anywhere for these ladies:confused:

no stakes in your garden either....does topping them help manage 'too heavy colas'

another question in a previous post of yours I will ask with additional posting

picked up a pack of the angel breath when I saw the makeup of the genetics...your Afghan Haze grow previously really had me drooling....this combination is guaranteed 'to rock'...your own creation worked well for you obviously:D

clarification questions

Hello Shantibaba ,
It is cool when you start a good thread like this,
maybe we all can give and get some insight to this
blessing/curse that is Feminised Breeding.
I have never purchased or recieved any feminised seed,
but on occasion, when I have a super potent flowering female.
I can manage to produce one or two small pollen flowers on an isolated branch.
By a combination of over clocking
{taking plant past harvest}
and isolated stress
{tie a small wire around the selected branch and apply pressure}
when this occurs I will carefully collect the pollen on a small model paint brush or a cotton swab and immediately transfer it to my selected female.
if this produces a viable seed i feel i have a true XX plant Feminised without the use of Chemicals.
Now I wont even collect a female that has pollenated herself i feel that will make off spring more prone to displaying this trait so I bury it in the poly hybrid or 3way .
I have now one female I planted from 1 of 30 seeds made from AfghanHaze#4 in my thread and Mango Haze F1 female that was a Million Dollar Baby...
I was growing her with a nevs haze and she was clocked on the nevs 14 week cycle and gave me pollen which i used on the AfghanHaze female and the nevs haze female. I have yet to try my NHMHs1.
the AH x MHs1 is outdoors and looking good man, just tipped it second time and it is very aromatic, not yet bloomed, but soon.
these resulting seeds are for me and my garden and gifts but I have always used one of three family of seed...for my parents...I have found over the years a couple males that were all that and some too.
SSSC,Seed Bank,Mr Nice in that order...
save one ...season
I did have a run with DJ Shorts stuff and i must say it was expensive and lousy results ...one plant in 20 were great so I left his stuff long ago.
that is my extent with feminised seed.
I do have a rule of thumb.
use true breeding plants males and females...
dont over look that possible one off Super Clone Only for sure...
plus it is fun to get the hands in the dirt...and learn new things

if and when she flowers I will send you a photo...

peace my friend
:D
Scorpion

Hey Scorpion, hope you are well (probably well-medicated with those pictures:D)

Interesting technique on producing fem. pollen

So you throw self fem seed away but use fem plants for production and breeding when you "bury" the genetics:confused:

your 1 in 30 seeds means:... you selected one best female out of 30 fem. seeds you produced to run to maturity...yes?

How did the 'million dollar baby' clone smoke that was overclocked...just heavier and duller or something different (not very much experience in this area)?

Always kicked myself for not picking up Haze in the old SSSC catalog...live and learn

do you have those males in your 'library' or just used them at the time for breeding projects?

When you speak of "true breeding" do you mean: "inbred line" or just that they throw relatively the same types of plants...or something else:confused:

Not too many questions, I hope

peace to you

If a plant is from Feminised seed then I use that plant for flowers only,if it turns out to be an exceptional plant I will keep a clone for future flower production.

No,my 1 of 30 seed means I made 30 seeds from this cross and planted 1.

The Million Dollar Baby kinda speaks for itself?
She was excellent.

Haze was never sold by SSSC to my knowledge, not even a hybrid of it that I am aware of.

do you have those males in your 'library' or just used them at the time for breeding projects?
I have 1 Afghan Haze male and 1 Haze Skunk male

When you speak of "true breeding" do you mean: "inbred line" or just that they throw relatively the same types of plants...or something else:confused:
True Breeding means the plants will breed true for a selected trait.

Not too many questions, I hope

peace to you

my pleasure .

Thanks for the reply Scorpion

should have kept those old catalogs of SSSC ....could have sworn "haze" was in it....he offered a sativa that piqued my interest...thought for sure it was haze...will search for my own satisfaction:)

must have been the Sk#1

Sorry no pictures to contribute to this thread...peace

final report;

Ah x MH* :
Fruity Floral smell from fresh flowers, highly resinated ,not unlike MangoHaze pollen donar,
strong pungent aroma from the smoke, very skunky/afghan type smell,
Good Pot aroma, sweet taste fruity tangy on the tongue,
The effect is medium to strong, lung expanding foggy mind effect.
structure is like the Afghan Haze mum, lower yield outdoors, big strong root system

SSH f1 #9 :
citrus smell in the fresh flowers, highly resinated with silver resin heads,
sweet and smooth on the tongue,
very uplifting high with a mellow stoned bottom, pungent smoke with a strong Columbia smell.
excellent structure,commercial yield,strong plant.

for personal smoking pleasure ,you just cannot beat SSH
for yield at the commercial level SSH is superior
for overall effect and flavor Super Silver Haze is better than this feminised plant...

No comparison really.

should have kept those old catalogs of SSSC ....could have sworn "haze" was in it
They did offer "new year's haze" that I'm sure of.

I think that push for these seeds has nothing to do with the end user and more for pure greed and the benifets gained by the breeders.

Two reasons:
1. They no longer have to breed. They no longer need male plants at all. Makes it much easier for these same compaines to offer 30 hybrids of the same 4 strains.

2. They dont want you stealing their stolen wares. Think about it they steal someone's strain and want it ALL for themselves. They know you can't do any REAL breeding with fem seeds and so you can't rip them off and claim it as your own.

I think its a travisty, they are ruining this trade 2 fold. They will continue to water down the genetics at an even greater pace by refusing to do any real breeding. At the same time unsuspecting/misinformed/greedy growers will buy these fuax seeds, then clone and pass out these impostures and continue to spread these genes like a virus. Even ppl that find out after the fact about who shitty fem. seeds are will not want to start all over agin, most likley they'll just settle for what they have. After all......"its not that bad"....well thats how the snowball will trun into an avalanche. They end up getting bred, making bad seed ect. ect..
The second problem is that their greed will make it harder for respectable seed compaines ala' MNS and Serious Seeds to either join the pack or fail in business. If these retards and can convince the market that these seeds are what ppl should buy via High Times ect., then the entire market will slowly die.

I doubt that there will be a market shift twords true real seeds any time soon. It will only happen once the market it dead and floating in the water and then ppl will finally "get it". But by then I fear it will be too late because the sham companies will have forced the geniune companies out of business. When the scam first happened they want 3X the price of orginal seeds, well the only bad press fem. seeds get is on the web. No magazine will touch this issue as all of their revenue is at stake. So they can do things like lower the price to keep the scam going. I think ghs's acually now charge less for their fems because they suck so bad. They can even start to give more seeds out to try to silence the issue.

My advice? Buy Shanti's entire catalog in triplicate:p

I never remember SSSC offering Haze. Cultivators Choice, later named Sacred Seeds, and Neville's Seed Bank both offered Haze back in the mid-late 80's, but I never remember SSSC offering it. I have kept the following strains from SSSC going through very selective pollination of carefully selected mothers and fathers:

M8(South African Durban X Thai)
M27(Beatrix Choice)
Williams Wonder
Nepali X Pakistani
Acapulco Gold
M45(AKA Pluton 2)

I know The Seed Bank offered Haze, as well as some crosses with strains like Northern Lights and Skunk #1. Haze was first offered by Sam at Cultivators Choice(Sacred Seeds) if I'm not mistaken. Neville acquired Haze after the 1st cup when Cultivators Choice won the cup and sold the genetics to Neville. Please feel free to correct me if any of this off or if I'm forgetting something. I remember growing Haze & Skunk in the late 70's and early 80's when I was fortunate to acquire seeds from Northern Ca. growers.

IMO the only true, or closest thing to true Haze would be from MNS since Shanti and Neville worked together and Neville was in possession of the true Haze genetics, same with Northern Lights, Skunk #1, and G-13, which he offered in Seed Bank catalogs in the late 80's. I feel since Shanti and Neville took their mothers and fathers from GHSC when they left to create MNS, that MNS and Shanti would be the most reliable source for some of these old world genetics. I kind of wish Shanti wold release a true NL line; I know Neville offered NL #1, NL #2, NL #2X5(which I still possess today), and NL #5. It would be nice to see this line become available for I feel NL is one of the truly great strains and it has been lost with all this new yield and fancy flavors and names.

IMHO, the seed industry has allowed some very fine strains to fade away for the sake of adding new strains full of color & flavor. I still feel some of my Thai strains, and my Santa Marta Columbian can hold it's own against any of true 100% Sativa offered today.

Haze is a great strain, please do not get me wrong, and Shanti IMHO is the leader in keeping some very fine Sativa dom. strain going, but we are losing some very fine strains in this new female seed, auto-flowering, and what I call unbred pheno strains due to commercial demand. Everyone wants to have some flashy cool name rather than a good true line strain.

I thank people like Neville and Shanti for allowing me to acquire some of these old lines and giving me the inspiration and knowledge to produce my own seeds so i can keep some of these truly precious lines going. Same to Mogggggys and Mr Soul from Bros. Grimm.

Sorry, I'm just very passionate when it comes to cannabis and genetics.

I don't buy,grow....work,play with feminized seeds- my sexual orentattion is straight- Otherwise, I don't play with hermys
couple years ago,I tested and I made some own femy seeds-6 strains stabile other four-not stabile...-hermys

picture with all plant is regular Balkan x Widow
other is fem

we have saw caled king of cannabis-and his only product is hemafrodit-hermys !!! instant, blond mentality-no thanks :)
couple months ago, I made own brand-yust to provocate those -saw called canna masters....

I grew this plant a while back, and stumbled on the pix tonight.

mom = Spice (f) x SSH (m). True female (I ferget which one, but I THINK A or B from the spice x ssh thread)
dad = SSH male flower from a female plant (ssh #2 from the D.B. thread)

I remember her being DELICIOUS smelling. Lil 'topical fruit', lil 'dry/crisp skunk', lots of haze. The SSH 'father' was not one of the hazier plants. She was ~9-10wks, and cheesy/peppery/lemony/skunky. IMO, this plant smoked just like the f1 SSH's. I'm sort of a heathen, though, as I think that my crosses and knockoff hawiian smoke as good as ssh too, lol.

These are 8weeks after first flower (prolly ~65-70 days of 12/12).

Hi ppl. Ne comments that i have posted on this subject plze ignorel lol. I grew alot of fem seeds.I knew that i was doing wrong in no growing regular seed. But didn`t have the time to do selecting as i needed my medicine. Neawy i grew out my 1st reg seed and in comparison to fem it was unreal. Potency/vigour/ and pest resistant oh and not 1 seed in my bud. 1 bit of stress on a fem and u got a hermi. Now i think my reg seeds is a north african sativa so i dont know if i`m in love with my 1st sativa or reg seed. I got 3 males crossed the 3 with 2 fem alaskan ice. And also crossed the 3 males to satr47(wos) i just cracked my f1s of aixsativa and star47xsativa. i also have 1 fem african sativa. I might cross them with my fem mother.Neways lets just say i grew up out of growing fem seeds and grow reg and hobby breed and me luvs it. i feel closer to nature than i di with fems i get more stoned and i dont get ne hermi seeds. thanx mns forum for showing me the light. i would on fem seeds to keep genetics going.

The green bud came out from feminized seeds with chemical ferts
the hashplantxspacequeen downside is from regular seeds and organic cultivation.

Here are some fem plants for all you fem haters:)

Mexican_Haze_x_Pink_Bubblegum004.JPG

Girls_girls_girls0011.JPG

Mexican_Haze_x_Pink_Bubblegum007.JPG

Both plants come from fem seeds that I made myself and both show no male flowers when grown.

I've used the femmed pink bgum in several fem crosses and the off spring rarely show any male flowers.
The only time 1 or 2 male flowers might appear is if they are let flower for an extra few weeks after peak harvest time.

This happens because I used 'Soma's' rodelization method of femming, which is where you let the plant that you want to fem, flower past it's harvest window by a few weeks and it should produce some male flowers as an emergency survival device.
In the case of the pink bubblebum, which only takes 9 weeks to flower normally, I left a cutting from her to flower for 13 weeks and although the bud was past it's best, it did produce 2 or 3 male flowers which I used to pollinate a different pink cut.

All the seeds I've grown from these crosses have been all female with no hermie traits, even under stress.
Not a way to make seeds for commercial production, but if you have a favourite female plant that you'd like to have seeds from, then it's worth a shot.

Peace GG

P.S The big cola in the top pic is from a Pink Bubblegum female that had some female pollen from Kiwi seeds Mexican Haze rubbed onto her.

The Mexican haze is the NL5/Haze cut x Mexican, a beautiful strain imo, great high and taste.

Hey genie me too...last year my Mexican/Afghan Rodhonized nicely with only one yellow banana on her stinky purple and did about thirty seeds, after September I didn't go at the spot and it was November when I discovered this beautiful feature. The sprouts this year are doing fine I hope they 've got the same attitude as her mother.I think also that mexican derived hybrids provide good traits to make rhodonization.Too bad I don't have photos of her...
I prefer buying normal seeds tough as I watch closely preflowers, have a good sight and a decent lens and that is sufficient to me what else?In 5-6 weeks I know which sex the plants are so...

I've never grown out Fem before. But, I was gifted some Acapulco Gold Fem from Barneys.
Not sure about his though, or how he restored the strain.
I don't have any interest in Fem seeds for cannabis, but if there still an interest in the flowers vs true female seeds then... Anybody have any regular Acapulco Gold....
This may help with other plant specie studies is why I would have any interest. Plus I like to put seeds in the dirt:D

Hi All

I am currently researching an article for my own use. It is roughly about showing female flowers from both female seed and regular true bred seed. If anyone has something interesting to contribute it would be great.

I know it is possible to get good flowers from both. But my question to most of you is do you know the source of the clones you get? Are they regular seed selection or other? Things like this would be helpful to read about for all growers since it is easy to bad mouth things but with pictorial evidence it is evident or not!

So thank you in advance and look forward to seeing what you got installed....SB

i think fems have there use as a crop plant if breed wright. but as a breeding plant have no more use than me trying to cross my plants with a real banana. if your growing one big crop and don't wont males go true fem to true fem if not then don't breed from fems. i have seen people use seeds from there female only crop. first bach of seeds is fine then they turn to hermie messes after that full of seeds nasty.

The Pink Bubblegum that I have is only in fem form, the seed she came from was from her mother(a sister X sister) crossed to a cut of herself.

I've used pollen from both males and females to pollinate her and in any of the seeds I've grown out from them, none show hermie traits, even under stress. I've gone as far as F2's in some of the crosses and still no hermie traits.

You can get alot of them to produce a few male flowers if you flower them for at leasyt 25% longer than you should, but this is just a trait that appears when the flowers and thc production has dipped well past it's peak and doesn't affect them if they are harvested on time.

Using chemicals like silver nitrate and GA3 can lead to hermie's in future generations, but the technique I use is different to that, I've bred in a trait through selection which I feel is beneficial to both me and the strain.

Peace GG
