Fem seeds and there impact on the future of the species known as cannabis.

I thought this site was here so real growers could show real plants that were grown from real seeds produced by the Mr Nice Seedbank???? Therefore giving future customers real non biased accounts of what to expect from a certain variety.......

Doesn't seem to be much of that at the minute....:(

Surely a troll would be here only for the purposes of trolling?

Seems to me if you stray off topic, you're in for a bit of public humiliation, often with the use of pictures... Personally I don't find that very nice, and if I found out my children were doing that in school or on the playground, I'd have failed myself as a parent!!!!

I'm going to have a rethink about whether or not I want to be here (virtually that is:p)!

I've said my piece, I have nothing further to say to you. People can see how crazy you are and how much hatred drips from your words, so I don't need to say anything, you already do enough all by yourself to make it clear that you're the one with issues.

I'll bet you thought since your buddies at Admin removed the thread, nobody would be able to go back and pin you on your shit huh? Think again slick ;)

Ok folks this is not a pissing contest. Get back to point. Questions pertaining to thread have been asked. Anyone game to answer. Kyle attempted and I applaud him for that. Anyone else wanna talk fem seeds?

Feminized seeds are gay versions of weed, do you want to smoke the Neil Patrick Harris, Richard Simmons, etc, or do you want to smoke John Wayne, Bruce Lee style man weed. You do the math.

I would Sadie, but I have to admit I don't know a great deal about the subject. I did some research into it and ran into a hurdle that I think is a problem for many others too and close to the crux of the debate:

I don't have a clear understanding of the mechanism behind sexual expression in cannabis and without this information I find it impossible to form hard and fast views on the subject.

Sadly, there are plenty of people who have formed hard and fast views despite not understanding how sexual expression really works. It is pretty pointless getting into it with those people because they have formed their viewpoint and are sticking to it regardless, that makes sensible, reasoned debate pretty difficult.

Can anyone explain, in fairly layman terms the mechanism behind sexual expression in cannabis? I have asked a few people about this in the past and no-one has yet been able to give me a cogent explanation. Maybe science hasn't fully researched this yet and we just don't really know how it works for sure?

Hi Sadie,
We've all seen your questions, which you've posted a few times over now, which in my opinion are a cleverly disguised way to paint Shanti and the CBD crew in a negative light. They are questions better suited for Shanti, than anyone else, so your persistance in asking them is becoming more and more transparent for your ultimate motives. If you've not followed, the last post from me above is indirect relation to feminized genetics and in particular the efforts of a certain set of individuals to purposely take this threads off topic by means of deception.

A point which has been hammered home further in this thread, and which goes to re-inforce the ultimate point of Fem Central and Stoner-Gate in general. If you really want your question answered, perhaps message Shanti privately and get your answers from those directly involved as opposed to re-asking the same question several times to those who have nothing to do with the CBD crew here at the forum. Maybe he will answer you then, maybe he will see you as myself and others do, and choose not too?

Ouchie I don't mind occasional swear but that's to racist and shows how ignorant you are.

It wasn't meant as insult, it was more of a joke pointing out the useless part of this thread in my own special way, sorry if I offended you.

I appreciate your answer jesse but I thought shanti is real busy a d this pertains to thread. It seems you are against fems correct? You badmouth all fems but when it comes to your leader making them you shy away from answering and begin to "whip it out". I will pm him and see what he says.

Sex in plants is a sign of evolution. More sex = more evolution diversity. The fact the it HAS two sexes shows signs of it's evolution. I'm not saying good things CAN'T happen from female on female breeding, I'm just saying it's not your place to play god like that. It WOULDN'T happen in nature other than the occasional herm plant. Herm plants in themselves actually deserve more attention, as they could actually be true forms of a third or possibly even fourth sex! Female > Male herm, and Male > Female herm. Anyways, what I'm getting at, less sex = less genetic diversity = literally FIGHTING evolution = bad for the long term of the plant. I'm not a genetic scientist like you guys, I'm just a pothead who can observe life, but that's my 2 cents, they might not be academically worth as much as yours, but I value them.

Thank you british hempire. Nice name btw. That's another honest response that few people dare to give.

Thankyou. I truly believe that people should never be afraid to say 'I don't know' because no-one knows everything and the moment someone starts to think they do know it all they have fallen into a dangerous trap. I try to learn a little each day, always found a lot of satisfaction in gathering new knowledge and gaining new perspectives on existing knowledge.

I don't know if feminised seeds are a bad thing or not. There is a very bad movement towards feminised seeds going on in the commercial seed industry, seems a new seed company offering fem seeds appears every week almost, and that is a bad thing because they are almost exclusively just jumping on the bandwagon to make a quick buck. What sticks in my throat about it is they are mostly just taking other people's work and producing their own quick n dirty hacks of it to turn easy profits. Look how many of the femmed lines you can buy are just S1s of cuts selected from Mr Nice lines, two examples off the top of my head are 'Critical Plus' by Dinafem - an S1 of the 'Bilbo' cutting of Mr Nice Critical Mass, also 'Shining Silver Haze' an S1 of a SSH cut. In almost any other industry this would not be allowed and Shanti would be able to take legal action to protect his work, but sadly the cannabis see industry is not regulated in any way so people are able to steal at will.

All that said, I do think that the feminising process itself is not necessarily a bad thing, it can be a useful tool in the breeder's arsenal and can be used to do some interesting work, for example, you could self a cutting in order to be able to grow out a number of S1s purely to get a peek into the genetics in terms of the variation and traits that are dominant and recessive. I used to have an exceptionally pretty Purple Afghan female, this plant was the most intensely bright purple, more magenta really. I wanted to know if it was true breeding for it's purple colouration, if it would pass on it's colour to it's offspring. I made a few crosses of it to various males and growing out those F1 seeds gave me some insight into the mother's genes. I wish I'd made S1s of her too because that would have given me a different perspective on her genetic makeup without any genes from a different line to consider.

What I'm getting at is that feminising a plant is a useful tool. It is completely irrational to hate the tool because it can be put to bad use, it would be like hating screwdrivers because they can be used to stab and hurt people. Don't hate on the tool, hate on the folks who use it with bad intentions and let the people who will use it in a productive way do so without the burden of hatred.

The problem with fem'd seeds is, eventually if enough are made and bred with "normal" strains all your spoons are going to become sporks bro

I like having Spoons, Forks, and Sporks

I don't have to worry about my Sporks breeding with my Spoons and ruining my Spoon's genetic make-up

On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, would you make all humans female if you could because you like to fuck them? I mean, I like to fuck, but you need males and females to make babies to grow up into females. Say, if they came up with a way to make babies without a man, should they just say fuck us, they have better genetics with out us? Should they breed Serena Williams and Lebron James together, then Breed the Daughter back to Serena Williams? I mean, she'd have to be the best athletic female who ever lived, right? Wait... we're talking about people, so it's a touchy subject. That's exactly how I feel about my seeds, ANY seeds, not just weed.

I accept that a loss of vigour is a major downside to the use of feminised seeds in a breeding program, but I don't know enough about genetics to have any firm opinions on any other possible downsides so I can't really offer further comment.

Most commercial seed doesn't interest me and I have enough regualr seeds to last me a lifetime or three, so on a personal level, femmed seeds don't pose much of a threat to me. I would be sad if all you could buy were fems, but I am fairly sure that there are enough folks out there who will maintain regular lines that we are not going to lose the male part of the cannabis genome. There are some very worrying trends developing though as you quite rightly point out, we don't want to be faced with just sporks!

If plenty of informed folks are aware of the risks with the trend to fems only then it is to be hoped that many of them will do what they can to buck this trend by actively working with regular seeds, making regular male-female matings and sharing regular seeds with others as much as possible.

I grew out a TON of different types of Bagseeds, from the occasional 1 seed in a whole ounce of some headies, to the upperclass midgrades with seeds here and there. I was disturbed by how many herm freaks I found, to say the least, I probably found 7 or 8 true females in 100 or so seeds, and literally 4 true males, all the rest had some form of herm trait, whether it be full blown branches of male sacks, or just one tiny one forming at the node of a flower cluster. Either way, it shows a disturbing trend, this was extremely recently I did this as well. At least 85% of the seeds came from outdoor, for sure. So that's even more upsetting :(

So now with Chimera being linked with Stoner-Gate crew GreenintheThumb, Kopite aka Hoosierdaddy, aka Gobshite aka ?(God knows who else), and a quick glance at the rest of their threads here at the forum and profiles linking them to other Stoner-gate members Moonunit, Darwinsbulldog, krk, Donald Mallard, British Hempire and the rest...its pretty blatently obvious that these trolls/nasty pieces of work have all worked in tandom to take the thread off topic, hide behind facades of lab coats, statistics and other bullshit all in an effort to defend perhaps one of the greatest threats to the cannabis species in Feminized Seeds, a trend which is only growing in popularity, one which could have significant ramifications, (a genetic crisis as Shanti put it) in the future!

Are you on meds? if not you should be.... for the last time I'm not Hoosier, i pm'd you a list of all I have been, some here could verify that for you... so for the last time heres who I have been.

reason: I didn't agree with the apointment of Pistol Pete being made a mod, ask him he's a member here under the name JKP.

@ IC

Kopite (deleted as pissed off at a certain Docleaf) BH among others stuck up for me, but my head was up my arse as my cousin had been murdered and I was having scans/X-rays for various things (if thats ok with you)

then came a running battle with the mods at Ic over many things but mostly there treatment of Hyb/eXe

and the following names where used

1. Silence (as they kept making posts invisable)
2. URUK
3. Toryscum
4. Brainbabonde

but YOU already knew this as I pm'd you about it - or did that get lost in your delusional mind?

here it is

Re:hoosier, thats one person I'm def not... btw if i'm under an alias I always tell people who I am.... at IC I have had the alias silence, URUK, and Toryscum.. as well as kopite, thats it so to get upset because I called JB out is frankly pathetic (what exactly where his/her motives for using 2 ids at the same time and inviting me to talk on this subject? ), you to me deter people from coming to this site and thats not good I'm all for open debate without censorship (prob why i have run ins so much with mods at IC) I'll say what I think and I expect the same back from others its healthy IMO.
