I'm still waiting for an answer from a proponent of Fem seeds ( or anyone ) what they think natures purpose is with regard to the Y chromosome. Or, if you think it's irrelevant, what is your reasoning.
We are just discussing idea's here, I don't insist that anyone agrees with me.
N.

Slowly going through this mess but I can answer this one. The Y ensures increased genetic diversity by preventing selfing/inbreeding.

what makes you say that Green?,,,oviously im not challanging what you say as i usaly take it for granted,,,,,,,,,but, it seems to me the Y has a level of suppressd recombination compared to the X

Well Rick it is quite logic what Green said.To survive an organism needs diversity.

Namaste :)

hay Green ,,,can you hear the heart monitors,,,,,beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep,,,soon its gona flatline,,,,,,,,beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

yeh,,drift is connected with sufficant Ne numbers and selection,,,

through selection a compounding effect takes place ,,,deleterious alleles accumulate in a seedline perpetuating the rachet

no?

That's only when you have a population < 2000 i believe

if we make hardy whineberg violations we must expect some drift,,,some sort of genetic-load system,,,

i promote useing high Ne numbers and removing deleterious alleles via inbreeding to create real healthy lines,,,its all a ballance imo,,,we cant expect to choose 1 or the other,,incrossing or outcrossing,,,feminization or M/F beeding,,,,, it needs to be a ballance,,,,

Slowly going through this mess but I can answer this one. The Y ensures increased genetic diversity by preventing selfing/inbreeding.

it doesn't prevent selfing or inbreeding at all, the male chromosomes are what allow selfing in the first place.... female plants couldn't make male flowers without having the male chromosomes to begin with! it increases genetic diversity by being part of the population's gene pool yes, but whether or not it's in one sex or the other is irrelevant. the male chromosomes will never be lost from the population of cannabis, if that happened the population would become extinct as it would no longer be able to reproduce sexually (no male flowers, no male gametes, no sexual reproduction...).

and you can still get heavy amounts of inbreeding through M/F matings to the same levels and higher as with selfing or F/F cross pollination techniques.

are we 100% the Y chromozone makes polen viable,,,,,from my point of view the Y acts as a silencer

to my knowledge you can get pure females which have no male chromosomes at all and these can't "hermie"/produce male flowers at all which would suggest the male chromosomes are required in the expression of male flowers whether or not they themselves are just a silencer or not (whether or not they have the genes on them or not). one way or the other it ends up having the same effect.

Why is the Y chromosome important?

Because the Y chromosome cannot easily swap information with the X chromosome, the Y chromosome in a man's sperm will be an almost exact copy of the Y chromosome in his body's cells. Therefore, any sons the man fathers will also carry this same Y chromosome.

Polymorphisms in a man's Y chromosome are also passed directly on to his sons, and then on to their sons and so on. These polymorphisms mark a man's Y chromosome and distinguish it from those of other men. As scientists know approximately how often certain kinds of mutations occur they can look for these and determine how closely related any two men are. The more Y chromosome polymorphisms two men share, the more recently they had a common ancestor. Y chromosomes in men living today thus retain a record of the chromosome's passage through time. They can reveal paternal ancestry and show relationships between different groups of men.

What can mitochondrial DNA tell us?

It is not just men who retain a record of their genetic ancestry. Women also carry a record of their history in their mitochondrial DNA. This DNA is found outside the cell's nucleus in the mitochondria, which produce the cell's energy. Following fertilization of an egg by a sperm, the sperm's mitochondria are discarded and only the mitochondria from the mother are retained in the new cells. Therefore, the DNA in each person's mitochondria is a unique record of his or her maternal heritage. Like the Y chromosome, mitochondrial DNA can also include polymorphisms. In the same way that scientists study polymorphisms in Y chromosomes, they can use polymorphisms in mitrochondrial DNA to construct extended mother to daughter genealogical trees.

Why have the S1 seed lost so much vigor in just one generation.

The Y chromosome contains several significant genes:

•SRY (sex-determining region Y gene; causes maleness via testosterone),
•sperm fertility,
•Y-influenced growth control,
•chromodomain proteins,
•short stature.
•other significant, mutant genes associated with disease, e.g., colorblindness

You guys just dont get it do you even if it fell from the sky landing on top of you you still would not get it.

i dont think the Y is responcable for polen viability,,,i believe the X has the ability to produce vaible polen on its own,,,when the X and Y are paired it causes male "expreshion"....sterility mutations stop repoduction not a missing Y,,,

am i wong,,?

XX- is fem no polen.

XY- is a male it has polen

XXY- is a hermi male and female repruduction right.

So to turn a female into a male or a polen surce you need to add the Y yes or no.

Hempy

I don't think you can compare yourself with plants isn't it.;)
Female plants can have male chromosomes like Darwin already said earlier, but i don't think men is able to produce eggs & sperm at the same time to produce healthy offspring.Hmmm, self yourself.:D

Hiya mate well asuxual repruduction is what it is and sexual repruduction is what it is and its fact that some humans also have both sexual reprudutive organs true or false well its true now can they self i dont know or would i like to realy know to be honest.

Rick asked a question wich was

are we 100% the Y chromozone makes polen viable,,,,,from my point of view the Y acts as a silencer

I also answeard ricks question wich was Y chromosome is the key to •sperm fertility

The Y chromosome contains several significant genes:

•SRY (sex-determining region Y gene; causes maleness via testosterone),
•sperm fertility,
•Y-influenced growth control,
•chromodomain proteins,
•short stature.

Then rick sed to that replie above

Answear would be yes.

2 options XY- male or XXY a hermi.

when anyone uses the word hermi it worries me nowadays,,,im sure we have coverd that canna is sub-dio,,so it contains no real hemis,,,only mono specimines

Well lots worries me to rick and ward hermi is not one of them

What does worrie me is people that think they know more about the natreal order of things than nature its self to start with.

People useing thearetic debates from surces that are still only thearys and opinons to argue there point.

People useing chemicals to turn a female into a male to breed with and then tell the rest of us its perfictly normal and fine to do so and it is found in nature.

Y chromosomal profiling can trace back paternal lineages into the past and has thus been proven a useful tool in genealogical and kinship testing. The individuality of the male-specific part of the Y chromosome can be optimally explored by the Y-STR haplotype analysis using a set of highly variable short tandem repeat markers approved by the forensic and scientific community.

You guys understand what that is saying alone honestly you guys can dance around this topic all you like but the importance of the male and the stuff it carries is all there if your willing to see it.
