you have a nice way of twisting around what you read hempy ,, its a waste of my time to type anymore on this thread , im not bothered at all how you view things , i was just trying to point out a few bits of misinformation ..
im probably not the best guy to do it ,, i guess if shanti or nevil said something youd listen to that ..
but i notice everyone glosses over the mistakes you make to point out someone elses .
im gonna leave it at that ,, thanks for the fun ..

Come on mate im not twisting any thing about and the reality is often the most simple of explenations you cant just throw therays and debate it and say it is true alone it just does not work that way.

I do lisen to shanti and neville but i also read what you and others have to say also unlike some i wont pick something i feel is not correct and rub it in a persons face i will try and put my point or opinon across and say why i dont think its right.

A cannabis plant has to have a given quolity to start with that is a reality and you just cant grow out numbers then select and breed to its self and improve its quolity.

Am i right or am i wrong in saying that if you got say a line of week mj even if you grow it out for years select the best plants in that line breed with it self your not going to make it stronger are you no you are not.

If you remove the male from the genome, the species will cease to exist.
Prove me wrong,please.
What other species is most closely related to Cannabis?
I don't know,whatever it is,remove the male,how long will it exist?
Did mother nature see it fit to have only female plant species in Cannabis?
NO, then why do you all see the need to emasculate the Cannabis genome?
I wonder how many of the fem people have no need for Men in their personal lives too?
and Please Please, explain it to me in layman terms,I have no PHD as some of you so I need explanation in plain English, not rhetoric.
I am curious,so if you can explain this to me I may jump on the wagon too,but until I see proof,I must follow mother nature rules.
Female x Male = Prolonged Existence
Female x Female = extinction of the species...
Prove Me wrong,Please.

Now Hempy, he is entitled to his opinion.
I have, with selective breeding made things stronger. The question that I have is:- Am I creating something new, or am I digging something up from past ancestors, and if the latter is the case, what role does the Y chromosome play in allowing past ancestors to expess themselves?

hey kanga ,, from what ive read there were seed growers and crop growers in thailand ,, guys made the seeds for the crop growers ..
for sure if no one had selected at any stage for potency there would be very little ..
the cannabis we smoke came from hemp right??

Hey mate.....Not from what I saw there wasnt and I was up in the North pretty far. The Bhudda sticks I saw being made were not from selected plants, but plants that were just thrown out to sprout naturally like wild hemp.
They never smoked it to test its strength, it was just strong anyway.
As for pot being stronger today compared to the old days, from my opinion it isnt.
Anyway mate I am getting a bit off track here....lol
Fem seeds......I think there will be problems later in the future with them....nuff said, I am going back to work with my males , males and more males.....:D
Hey mate no need to come back on this one.....I am sure we will dicusss this later....over a beer:D

You guys at times amaze me its like your trying to tell me you can get a plant that wont get you high yet with selection from with in that plant you will in time improve its quolity it aint going to happen.

The sativas used to make rope in the days of sail ships were mostly from india ( indian hemp) the ansestors of the wild mj growing out side a main city in qld and it was not week mj research it.

I think some of you put to much of your eggs in the breeding aspect and few into the genetics of the line put simple unless its there your not going to find it unless you add it by breeding it in.

This post is full of theretic arguments used as proof even the scientist that came up with them are still debateing them changeing there vues the more they lorne they them selfs have not even scratcht the surface yet some in here are experts please.

We have gone from not needing a male cannabis plant to now being able to make week mj into potent mj by just selecting with in the line in a few weeks im telling you the wistling mj plant will be a reality to and at this rate were evolveing faster than any living thing look out we will have cannabis plants doing ow manual labour with in a year lol.

Hempy, you're stuck with your knowledge in the 70s.More info is available nowadays what influences the potency.Even the UN showed in several old researches that certain factors were involved in Mj potency.

Hemp grown in the 17th century were certainly not from India. In the 19th century the English brought seeds from India for further research because of the medicinal properties, but not for rope.

Rome is not build in one day, so breeding a new potency strain takes time, but is not impossible.Pollen can only be produced by a female if it has intersex genes, but a pure female will never produce any pollen at all.

Namaste :)

Come on mate thats like telling me todays cannabis is stronger than the cannabis was in the 70s it is not true is it.

Pre-10,000 BCE

* Archaeologists all agree that hemp was one of the first known plant species to be purposely cultivated and the only one cultivated to be dioecious (having separate male and female plants).
* The origin of hemp is thought to be in Central Asia (Kazakistan, Pakistan, Nepal, the Kashmir region of India, and the Tibetan region of China)

No, i will even say that nowadays indoor Mj has declined in potency than the varieties which were grown outside high in the mountains. It's a fairytale of the prohibitionists to continue the prohibition of Cannabis.

I even smoke for medicinal purposes import brick (Lambsbread) from Jamaica which gives better result than the indoor sativa's they're selling in the shop.

One of the reason is that indoor light like HPS doesn't contain any UV, which you have a lot in the mountains.I've seen some grows with a new form of indoor light which does contain UV, the trichs were growing like hell, although some varieties had problems with the high UV in the light.

The origin of Cannabis started probably in the Altai mountains (Kazachstan). From the Altai mountains to Yunnan China & from Yunnan to Afghanistan, Pakistan etc.

Colombian & Mexican strains were originally from India, Nepal and were brought by some American pharmaceutical companies for the development of medicinal strains in the beginning of the 20th century

You know this is a myth about indoor grown mj being less quolity than the same flowers grown out doors dont you ?.

I rember reading over at cannabis world people laying claim to sativas needing a full summer veg cycle to achive there full quolity indoors so as i do thort no thats bull shit so i ran a set number of clones indoors and out doors and do you know the smoke quolity was the same no diffrent from indoor plants with a few weeks veg grown under hps to the same genetic plants with a full sumer grown under the sun.

Do you know what the diffrence were between the 2 groups the indoor flowers had more resin to the out door flowers and tasted nicer than the out door flowers they had a earthy flavour were indoors have the fruety going on.

Yet the same potancy and high from both groups.

I think cannabis has been in the us and mexico a lot longer than when pharmaceutical companies took them there i would bet that the native americans had it as did the mexicans way for white settlers.

Ha nev as no ones brave inuf to even take a stab at it thort i would .

You are digging something up thats in the plants genetics.

As for the Y going out on a limb here i can hear the branch cracking lol.

But nothing to loos every thing to gain right Does the Y carrie the ansestors genetic info of the given line and helps it carrie it across at the same time basicly writes the code.

No, it's not a myth, but some research showed there is a difference in cannabinoid profile.

At this height you have a different light spectra than below sea level and even indoors with HPS.

It depends of course when you harvest at full strength or not and how you treat the buds afterwards, which is not in a good manner when you turn them into bricks, potency will decline.

The Spaniards brought hemp to America for fibre production, not for dope and that counts for the Dutch too.

hi all

hi Nevil ,

Now Hempy, he is entitled to his opinion.

Quite sometime ago I had read a post from Shanti on the male side in regards to breeding:
shantibaba said:
-Should Haze be used on the male side only?_or does it matter.

Well again it depends upon what you are wanting to achieve. I use the pure Haze male line for any seed I produce with a haze. But actually sometimes if you have bred with one pure haze and then bred it to another pure haze the combination that are produced can be far more better than sticking to a single haze male. It goes somewhat similar to horse breeding. Get a few charts of well bred thoroughbreds and study the male influence. If a male from generation combines with a male with the same blood line in say two or three generations later the results can be almost magical.

Hey here is something I found after reading the quote that L33t posted from shanti:
http://www.cyberhorse.net/hotlinks/i...AMBLINGSLIMTWH
It's a pedigree for some random horse. On the far right are the horse's great-great grandparents, and on the far left are the horse's parents. The father seems to be listed on the top. For this horse (RedBudRamblingSlim TWH), the same great great grandfather (MerryBoy) appears 2 times on his mother's side, and once on the father's side. I looked through some other horses, and they also seem to have certain great-great grandparent and great grandparent males repeated/reconnected. :)

EDIT - The TWH means Tennessee Walking Horse. I'm fukkin round now, and some of the lineage of these horses traces back before the revolution.

So Nevil from your experience with cannabis and horse breeding do you find that something similar happens ?

I once did some experiments with UV light indoors.
The theory was that plants at high elevations are exposed to more UV light than plants at sea level and that plants increased resin production as a survival mechanism to protect the plant from harmful radiations.
Well the first time around the plants were not acclimatised and suffered severe burns. I tried again, taking care to get the plants used to the light. This time the plants did not suffer burns.
I tried a range of different varieties, but could not discern any difference in appearance, resin production or high. So much for that theory.
