I've glancing at this thread now and again because frankly you are loosing me boys. Someone raised the issue of race horses. I have studied racehorse pedigrees.
I was going to point out that while the statement about most racehorses being descended from a small number of broodmares is correct, the interesting point which is relevant to the subject at hand, is the fact that there are only three sires line extant today. These are The Darley Arabian, Godolphin Arabian and the Byerly Turk.
But considering that you've pissed me off, I'll wait until people treat each other with bit more respect before joining in.

Breeding a donkey into a racing horse would be very difficult, but a less potent strain into a potent strain is possible as long you have the right alleles for it.

Man did not "make" the plant potent. The genes for potency were there all along man just selected those traits which suited his needs that the plant already possesed.

Hi Donald....Hey mate, just a little something about man doing his bit for THC strength. When I was up in Northen Thailand in the 70's I can tell you there was no selection going on and as far as I know never was. They just farmed it, produced seed for the next crop and that was that.
Now seeing man has done his bit for the improvement of MJ, how come there is no strong pure Thai's around anymore like the old day ??

for sure if no one had selected at any stage for potency there would be very little ..
the cannabis we smoke came from hemp right??

I've been amongst wild fields of sativa in Nepal. There was no selection going on. These plants were very potent. Unfortunately they lacked refinement and I culled the line. IMO, the psychoactive property's of cannabis are a warning sign to predators that eating cannabis will come with a price, a bit like chillies. It's selective breeding that steers things towards the type of psychoactive effect that we consider pleasurable and even this is subjective. I've seen people take 2 tokes of my best Haze and cry for their mothers.

You guys at times amaze me its like your trying to tell me you can get a plant that wont get you high yet with selection from with in that plant you will in time improve its quolity it aint going to happen.
Next thing your going to tell me is to do it you need to fem the line remove the male from the equation as his the couse of the line not evolving into all it can be come on its like this topics evolving backwards back into the stone age.
The sativas used to make rope in the days of sail ships were mostly from india ( indian hemp) the ansestors of the wild mj growing out side a main city in qld and it was not week mj research it.
I think some of you put to much of your eggs in the breeding aspect and few into the genetics of the line put simple unless its there your not going to find it unless you add it by breeding it in.
This post is full of theretic arguments used as proof even the scientist that came up with them are still debateing them changeing there vues the more they lorne they them selfs have not even scratcht the surface yet some in here are experts please.
