Hell yeah, bruddah. Plant the seed, grow da weed. I LOVE that guy...

We are still havin 80 degree days, wachu mean has been, lol. By the end of the year, I will have my head around the SuperSpice cross, and be growing the males/females (P stock, bitches..)to take it where I wanna go. I think I wanna just breed with the 'middle of the road' plants (size, structure, speed) so as not to bottleneck a desireable, or unlock any undesirable (lower the %'s of doing so anyway), and select for potency/taste. The goal would be something that breeds true for potency/taste, and falls in the desired parameters for size/structure/speed, etc... Sounds easy, right?

:)

The real shit is HOW MUCH DID I LEARN IN 2008 (so far). I came into 08 having never even plugged a hid in. Never grew a plant over 20g. Never made seeds. Never finished a plant that I trusted the genetics.

I am especially proud of the outdoor. I would be 50/50 if I had reliable transportation, but without, I am very satisfied. We will see 'round Thanksgiving. I should have a handle on 3-4 different cuts of SuperSpice, and the Outdoor will be over, so..
Plus, now I have a mulch pile...

PERFECT!!

I topdressed outside Saturday.
It was cooler with sun peeking in and out Sunday, and ~.2" of drizzle in the after noon to dampen the topdress.
Monday it is POURING, washing that shit to the roots.

I couldn't have asked for better 1-2-3 days. Now I need slow, soaking rain till 2moro, and full on sun 3-4 days at a time, with rain inbetween....

Bite me with the sun coming out !!;) Sun came out here too but it was chilly this AM, and looking at 40F tomorrow AM. Not even mid August yet! days in the 70's make cooling my indoor grow easier though. Nighst been in the high 60's in my indoor grow. Good time for the the cooler weather too as these are finishing.

Me and the g/f will have to build/buy a greenhouse at some point, one we can heat in the late summer/fall. The only way I'll ever finish a plant properly outisde in these parts.

I hope the weather stays good for you this coming month.

Not true, SF. You could shade-force plants, you could slide indoor plants out july/aug, or you could veg clones for 24hrs/2wks, and put em out Mid July. 7/8/9 wks will be last wk Aug - 2nd wk Sept. I think that you can put plants out after ~7/10 and have no worries of re-veg. Ya don't live on the friggin north pole, SF :) People are growing in Denmark, Iceland, northern Canada/southern Alaska.... I shade-forced a superspice clone in my back yard. She started (showed) Aug. 1, so she should finish mid Oct. I'm not as optimistic for the seedplant SuperSpice outside. She wasn't showing on 8/9, sooo even 8/16 + 10wks = 10/25. Fingers crossed...She is near a decent sized river, so may give me a week to hold off frost (from the mass of 55deg h2o running by, warms the air...). Finger's crossed, cause the indoor SuperSpices are DELICIOUS. E=sweetcheesy treat C=Tropical haze. Outdoor should be NUTZ. :D

EDIT - Thanks, but it's OCT that I need luck with, lol. Sept here is prolly 1 of the most 'pleasant' months here. Prolly may/june and sept are the nice months. ALWAYS gorgeous on my brifday!!! Big fukkin 3oh in a few wks.....

They are 5wks from 1st flower. There are 3 more ssh f1's behind these that will go into 12/12 ~1st wk of Sept. These 2 (and 1 of my iffy's) got hit with the ogk x g13/h male. Those seeds, the MW seeds, and the SuperSpice seeds will all go into the same batch. Coming soon DownBelow... Springish....

I have 3 MMG females and 1 male, so I will make f2's from all 3 girls. The male is a nice looking plant. I threw the Kalichakras (3) and the Pakalolos (2) in ~ 3-4 days ago, but they prolly won't sex for another few wks...

Went to visit 1 of the spots yesterday, and came back with pix!!

SuperSpice. Tops starting to flower, rest of plant, nothing. I will be pulling this girl last, and she will still be early. Sexy plant though..

Here are my early Spices. Prolly 3-4 wks into flower. The oldest calyxes are swollen and starting to produce resin. Has much more of that Hawaiian Indica/Molokai look (from the pix that Ive seen on the puter, lol) outside than in. Also smells more like the SuperSpices than the indoor Spice. Like there is something 'extra' to the smell. Astringent?

Not looking for patches, but I HATE hearing/seeing them....

I am thinking that the bird that I saw the other day was a young red-tail. I have been mis-identifying red-tails as peregrines. I was put off by the call, but I guess that he was close, and there was no background noise or interfering objects between us. I was told waaaay back that the mating 'fall' of the red-tails was peregrines. I have seen the peregrines do it in the city (which is AWESOME), but out here I was calling the small, light red tails (younger) peregrines. I gotta look for the yellow feet. Now I'm not sure if I've seen peregrines out here...
How bout a Turkey Vulture??

Damn barletta, you really know your gardening indoors & out... not to mention knowing and finding the keepers. Excellent job on the grows and a very entertaining thread.

You got that right L. More like

LOL, the best thing about the internet, is that you can only post the good pix of the good plants. Haven't seen too many of those short muthafukka's around, I'll get pix of my 3 plants that don't add up to 14" of bud (mature..). I don't have pix of the ~10 plants that I lost to slugs/deer to show yas...

Going now to visit the "black" Spice and her friend Shit. Gonna try to take a few cuts. Looks and smells quite different from the other Spice. Gotta call it something other than black, cause she isn't changing this time around, and the OTHER Spice (sour) is turning EASILY inside and out.

Really though, I am learning like everyone else, and I LOVE my Mondays....:)

Took a trip with the old dogs this morning (that means we drove then walked). I wish that I had done the proper scout work in the spring. This spot HAS water somewhere, and I'm sure I could have WAY outdone Farms here, but live and learn. The sun is NO JOKO there. Prolly STILL ~8-10 hrs direct sun (on a rise, facing due south, clear horizon..).

Oh look, someone cut a path to the spot, how lovely ;-)

Worky work, busy bee...

C'mon, you can see her.. DEAD middle of the pic. The yellow flowers are ~3-4', she is ~5'+
hidden8-17.JPG

HEHEHE You really can't see her in that pic... No one should be within ~200' of that spot for any reason anyway, so good... She will prolly finish 6-7', and the 1 next to her (shit) ~4-5'

So we snuck around back....
fromthaback8-17.JPG

Then we jumped in, threw down ~2 cups each of bio-tone, greensand, and softrock phosphate. Reeemembah, beeeg theek heads needs lotsa potash...

Obligatory bud shit, I mean shot.
Judy8-17a.JPG

Her trunk is a monster, I should have grabbed a pic. I get kinda single minded when I am that close to the plants (they are legally 'mine'). There are at least 2 other clones that I fully expect to be 4-5' tall around here somewhere, but I will hunt for them another day. These 2 plants should give me over a pound easy.. I call the lil 1 Household, and the big 1 Wamu...

Oh yeah, finally made it happen...

Cuts of the 'Black' Spice. aka Wamu.....

Some pix of the prize peppers.
Prize_peppers.JPG

redmofo.JPG

These were transplanted ~10 days before the Orange Mudds. They were kind of a trial for the coco/castings mix. They are BY far the best veggies that I have grown so far. The tomatoes in the ground may out do em, but so far, these peppers are DELICIOUS. The 1's that turn reddish take on a supersweet chocolate flavor. The 1 on the right is in straight coco, and topdressed w/ ~4-5" of compost and dry organics. They all got the 'dry organic/compost topdress ~ a month ago, and I gave them a lil bio-tone and guano yesterday. They get fed runoff, pee, bubblewater, EJ, age-old, PBP, whatever. Any 'food' is @ 1/4 strength or less. Well, lately, been a good bit of EJ bloom + molasses. Gotta use up that gallon SOMEHOW.

Pic of an unknown SuperSpice clone that I started to force ~last wk of July, ~2 wks. MAY be the same cut as the 'round' 1 I have down below, but not sure.
odss8-18.JPG

And a Shit ~5wks. First 2/3 wks inside, and got hit with the ogk x g13/h male. Looking forward to this cross, as the shit cut is FAST, but stays so small...
odshit8-18.JPG

I've been thinkin bout birds/hawks, and sure as shit I've been seeing them. I saw another Bald Eagle yesterday. I was in the car, and I thought it was a turkey vulture, or buzzard or something. But it was alone, and when the sun hit it, it clearly had a huge white tail. I'm driving along pointing to it... I just got back from Farms, and about 2 miles from getting back to my house, I got swooped over by a Red-tail. I'm fumbling for my cam, but no chance of a shot. If I knew he was coming, woulda been the best pic opportunity EVER, he was less than 30' above me.

Guess these budshots will have to do..

Big Shit - I'm over 6' tall, and the cam was a lil above my shoulder for this pic. That's a 3 gallon bucket (same dia. as a 5). If she does like the same cuts inside do (~40 day finisher), she may not see October... I gave her ~15 gallons of 5-10-5 Age-old today. I need to look for more spots like this 1. SUPER SECURE, plant will end up ~7', and can't be seen. ~6' from water deep enough to fill that 3 gallon from. I had a MW re-veg that died there. If she would have made it (and finished), prolly a 3lb spot. (3 EASY, no water hauling..) I am hoping for over a pound from her alone..
bigshit1.JPG

bigshit2.JPG

Lil Shit - Same cut. Pic is ~2-230pm, and I think she gets shaded ~4pm. She is further from the water, so she goes a lil drier too. will end up ~4', but is finishing a lil quicker (shade). She got 6 gallons (2 full buckets). I didn't wanna wear a path. I kinda pushed the bucket into her a lil for that pic...

The 2 shittiest pix...

Mango Widow. I am calling it MW, even if it's not, lol. JUST starting to flower. 10 wks from today is Nov.1. That won't cut it in all likelihood. Oh well, she'll be a lil early, but she is gonna be SMALL. Big plant now, but I think she gets ~4 hrs direct (morning-noonish) right now. I have a few of these in the patches too...
MW.JPG

And the SuperShit. MONSTER PLANT. Shit (same 40 day cut) x SSH (same dad as the super spices). Here is the stem that I broke ~2wks ago. I was WORRIED that I turned a 7 footer into a 5 footer... No problems. She seems to be a lil further along than the MW's, but not as far as the shits/spices.
supershit1.JPG

Nice pic of the SuperShit. Remember I'm over 6', and that pic is taken @ eye-level, AND she is only 1-2 wks into flowering. I had her sister outback, and I cut her @ 5wks due to mold, so finger's crossed. Even early, the smoke was tasty, tasted like astringent, bubblegum haze..

:)

Some Spice Pix. These are all the 'household/sour' cut. They triggered quick, and they are filling in nicely. I will probably take the spices and shits in ~4wks. They both make pretty dense buds inside, so I'm a lil worried about mold, but not with the weather we're having (80 deg, full sun, bone dry last 3 and next 3 days).

I tried to give a sense of perspective to the patches by keeping a downed tree branch in the pix. Water is not really an option at the patches, due to the thickness of the brush. If I had to get water for them (drought), it would look like an elephant stomped through the woods... I don't worry about the spot or individual plants/patches getting found, but I worry about leaving trails to and from. It doesn't appear that ANY other people have been even to the AREA that Farms is in all summer. No extra trails/broken branches, etc... I have left some things as indicators of foot traffic, and NOTHING out of the ordinary so far.

farms1.JPG

farms2.JPG

Moved a lil to the right, and zoomed in on the far patch a lil....
farms3.JPG

I have in the patches:
(2) Aurora B seedplants
(1) Dreamtime seedplant (I think it is Shit, seems to be quick with the same bubblegummieness)
(1) Shit x SSH seedplant
(1) Large Spice
(2-3) smaller (pole plants) Spices
(2-3)SuperSpices (unknown pheno's)
(2-3) Mango Widows

I was hoping for 2-3lb per, but I was there today, and with the progressive harvest, I may be looking at a good bit more (3-5 per).

I love my Mondays.

Here is the river that I stopped in on the way back. The stones were like a foot massage. They felt so good on my barefeet (after 4hrs and 6-7mi in sneakers), that I walked the rest of the way home barefoot (~2mi). Felt good then, numb now, let's see if I end up with more blisters on (from sneakers) my feet, or under (from barefoot) my feet...

Took a trip to the early spices today.

SuperSpice (spice x ssh) seedplant (most sat pheno) ~2wks since 1st flowers
S7302258.JPG

Gave her 2 gallons of pee/age-old/pbp/B-1. She looks good, and I was shocked at how far she came in the ~10 days since I saw her. The Spice adds some QUICK at my latitude. The SuperSpice is in the shade as of ~3:30pm now, and prolly~2pm in a month, so maybe that will speed things up.

Many of my spots are South-SouthEast. They almost all seem to get sunrise, and ~3-4 plants/spots get shaded a couple of hrs past peak. The above SuperSpice is prolly East-south-east.

Not these. These spices are in the sun probably until 6ish. I was up there today 4ish, and they were full on. They do stand out like a sore thumb due to the surrounding vegetation dying (risk I knew that I was taking, as I am new here, and there is ~85% 1 kind of ground cover there, and that's something that I knew may happen..). There are some different shaped/sized pines/pine shrubbery, yes, shrubbery and no chopper will come within ~200' of these. They are near high tension lines and regular height power lines, and I can't see a pilot 'takin her down' for my lil 10 zips...

S7302259.JPG

S7302260.JPG

I figgure they are ~5wks, and will go 23-24 more days (unless I see mold first...)

Well, I'm getting the 2gallons for the SuperSpice down (have to scrape and 'soak' the ground, so as not to waste..), and I hear my first 'voices at the spot'. They were down a ways from me and the girl, but still... It sounded like 2 guys that drove into a field down a ways, and cranked the radio a bit, then struggled to TALK over it. I never saw them, and am 95%+ sure that it was just some hillbillies that came back there to burn and down a sixer..

So I have to go around the ponds, and I found a really cool creek channel. It was obviously created when the ponds were created (pretty sure the ponds are man made). It was between 6 and 15' deep, and has a steady flow of water, with 1 pool that looked over 2-3'deep. I bet it is MOVIN in the rain/thaw. I shoulda grapped a pic, but..

Went around the ponds, and was SLICK in the woods. I started to hear the same bird as last time, but now I am listening for him. OK, where are ya...
I see a bird cruising in, but it's too far out to be the 1 that was calling in the same general spot for the last 5-10 min or so. Then I see the 'caller' circle into the frame of view.

Not the caller, didn't stick around. I don't know what it was, but it was deffo different (thinner, larger, slightly different wing profile, different flight 'action') than the other bird, which I have ID'd as a red tail. They are ALL over here.

Not a redtail
