Hi All

just to clear the air from confusion and before you all go making a legend from myth here is how it was done and is done still....

Nh is made from Haze C male which is made by two pure haze parents from 1969....then the female side of NH is made from Haze A combined to NL5 or NL5Haze A where Haze A was also made by two pure Haze parents also from 1969

Haze A is no longer alive only Haze C male is along with several other different sativa lines.

but plants with the lineage of Haze A are still alive and carrying the genes within.

SSH is made up of Haze C combined to Skunk 1 or Skunk HzC which is the male side, the female side is Haze C combined to NL5 or NL5HzC

the Mango comes from a parallel cross same as SSH but with one difference

Haze A male combined to Sk 1 or Sk HzA being the male plant, the female is NL5HzC....that is the breeding of those three plants

considering the Haze A is no longer a male alive, it still is alive in the ancestry of some of the plants used in all these breeds

I do not have secrets about breeding but given the same seed batches we could all still create something different...it boils down to selection.

La Nina is the widow father breed to a pure Haze female...neither A or C by the way so I hope that clears up all your doubts once and for all.

There is no one other than Simon at serious seeds who follows breeding plants like we do.Most Dutch seed companies use females plants obtained from seed batches that were passed on to them or sent to them, making their origins a little doubtful at certain stages. The whole seed industry based alot of things on Neville's origins in fact , but none except Sensi Seed had the parent plants to replicate things time and time again. Whether plants dies or were lost to disease over the years...well most companies would probably not tell anyone, but think about it.How many back ups of parent plants would you need in how many countries to be sure never to loose an important line? As enforcement on growers gets more and more restricting rooms get found etc....and the law of averages catches up on you. My last problem with the Swiss authorities I lost all plants in my library...some 42 mum's and dad's...luckily we keep backup of all the most important plants in 5 different countries and have done for years...if we had not had done this then we too would have lost alot of heirlooms. I do keep original batches of seed from years ago also in several places just in case I have to go all the way back to the drawing board to do selection again...but that is as bad as it gets for us.

As you can see it is alot of work in alot of places to just keep things alive...not to mention the expenses and time factor involved.

Lastly just to clarify things to do with this site...well I do all the moderating alone plus the pms and all questions and answers....so if there is something wrong on this site it is me who made it. I have a webman to do the technical aspects but all content and daily admin of the site is up to me. Howard will be helping in a limited way one day but he is a busier person than anyone else I know. Nev is not one for public life or cyberspace...and due to family committments is happy to do some work on plants but nothing else.So I am afraid you are all dealing with Shantibaba...whether you like it or not.

All the best now off to Bologna for a 3 day fair....take care

CBD testing and how about the Neville's Haze x Mango?

May 2012
answers to questions....

Hi All! My pleasure to post up some answers to questions related to the plant work.
Firstly please remember that the CBD-crew is not just me so I will answer general questions about this line but I am obliged by all the committee to keep protocol while we are completing some agreements, I hope you can respect this for the time being.
All CBD strains were selected only after the test results were in. We tested several hundred plants, including original mothers and fathers, S1 seed (which is sold in the packets of cbd crew), and many other seed lines to find appropriate starting point and gather a strategy of breeding. This breeding was done solely from established lines of plants to establish knowledge . So the simple answer is yes we did a huge amount of testing and there is no guess work at all involved .We found and still finding different CBD to THC ratios effect different conditions, however it is just too early to comment on specifics like this.

There is a place for all lines of work. The problem is the technology and the time it takes to get things established, if these are no issue then it already exists. As for establishing gene banks it is a perfect alternative to seed or living clone and a lot smaller and easier in spatial features to do, so it will have a place in cannabis future for sure.I do not know if you were aware our original company in Switzerland was named Gene Bank Technology ...not by coincidence.

?

Having a clone in seed form will be a way to spread original genes to all corners of the world in an identical replica...definitively a practical solution for standarizing a finished product and to produce things in other countries and set up production lines etc...l

The NH xMH was the NH female crossed to the 5Hz122.

There is a start to answering plant questions and I promise i will try to find time to answer or comment on others soon....all the best sb

in response to this mail;

Hi Shanti

I was curious what you thought about a couple of things. It seems you have to spend time posting and closing threads due to fussing and fighting. Maybe you can post some thing about the plant?

Did you mainly use test results in the selections for the cbd series? Did this make things easier and faster in the selection process? Did you find a thc:cbd ratio that YOU prefered?

How do you think tissue culture and seed embryo will affect the cannabis world in the future? Having a clone in seed form seems pretty nifty. Will there a be a time soon when we can buy elite selections for example like your 5HZ122 in seed form? Or tailor made seeds with an exact thc:cbd ratio for medical grows?

What can you tell us about your nevilles haze x mango haze? Was the male used a NH or MH? Did you use the 5HZ122 female or a MangoF2?

Thanks
-MJP

Choosing Mothers:
Aug. 2012

Hi All

Well choosing mothers is not as easy as saying that grows nicely lets keep it...more like a process of elimination once you are sure it is not a keeper.

What I do is work in numbers as selection from a few seeds is not really selection more take what is on offer...

With a typical F1 seed we flower and look for a cloner that has the good parts of both parents. Knowing the parents helps of course. So say you do a sample of 25 seeds and get 14 females and 11 males.

Without doing selection for males say we kill them all.

Now we cut a clone from the lower branches of each labelled female plant say A1....A14, root the clone and pot up to small pots and keep under fluoro, usually 2 or three of the same A1, A2...A14.

Flower out the mature base A1, A2....A14 and still keep the clone of each of them on 18hr...once the plants are flowered it is more easier to choose from the effect of the A1...A14 but keep in mind the other traits you feel are important to you like yield, bag appeal , stone, high....etc....

Once you narrowed down things to the best 3 females get rid of all other mothers and flower a square meter of each of the selected finalist. I do this twice at least since it takes 3 crops on a plant to understand how to grow it properly so keep the best three until you decided foresure....then give a clone to a mate to see how he does with them.

Usually if you have 3 bags of nice buds of 3 different sisters the bag you tend to gravitate to and the one finished first is the selection...all the best sb
