Hi don m8, on the lighting you are absolutely right. Its geared for the 8 week indoor indica dom hybrid shows and not so much the sativa lover. Having grown lot of sats indoors i must say i also agree on the metal halides, they are just better for indoor sats imho, but as most indoors growers use hps, we must stress test with em also. Good growers can do well with hps also, but it could be so much better
My dream is computer controled lighting, that can be programmed to replicate specific light conditions from outdoor hotspots around the world. Imagine a little sensor box that could be placed at a location, taking light readings and messurements of all sorts over a period of time, a small flash memeory card could be popped out of it and into the lighting control computer and bam, replication of the lighting in the area the sensor box was located. If one wanted to grow collumbians, one could download or obtain a data set for the columbian enviroment the genetics come from, and then replicate it as best as possible indoors.
Hell seed suppliers could send lighting setting data flash drives with seed purchases, with lighting settings for the seedlines one is buying on the flash drive.
Until then imho we can only do our best to catch up to mother nature
much respect
