1st Mango Haze Grow

Well this is actually my first grow ever as well.

Here's the setup:

3.5x3.5x7 grow box
600w air cooled Sun System HPS
2x 6in EcoPlus 6inch 440 CFM inline fan (one dedicated just to hood ventilation)
33 Can Fan

I'm currently using Sunshine Promix until they are transplanted to 11L Smart Pots. I'll be using Grow Roots organic soil to finish them. They're in 3L pots at the moment.

I'm also using all TechnaFlora nutes.

I had a bit of trouble with germination rates so I was only left with 6 plants from my original 18. MgHz #1 #2 #3 #5 #12 #14 are the ones that made it, all unsexed at the moment. I also decided to start some separate seeds as well. I've got one Sagarmartha Strawberry D-lite, one Delicious Seeds Grapefruit and one Delicious Seeds Sugar Black Rose.

I vegged them for about a week under 1x 4 light fixture t5 and 1x 2 fixture t5 then switched to 12/12 under the 600w.

So they're all about 4 weeks old and 3 weeks under 12/12. So far the SD is the only one to show pistils yet but the rest will follow soon hopefully :).

Now on to the problems...
My SD has been the most vigorous so far but has started to yellow a bit in the bottom set. I'm thinking a little nitrogen deficiency but I'd like to hear what you all think. I also have been experiencing some white spots on some of my girls leaves. It isn't mold it looks like possibly some of my foliar spay
had some nutes in it accidentally and burnt the plant under the light? I also have been some red stems as well and I have no idea what that could be so some help would be nice!

Other than that humidity has been the main struggle. They look at little droopy because of humidity levels <25% but have hopefully been remedied by wet towels and a humidifier during lights on. Things are steading out to levels 45%-55% during the day and 60%-70% at night.

Ok enough talk here's the garden! Please any help or criticism is much appreciated!

Ps I also included pics of my Grapefruit. She was actually a twin and then a triplet! The third looks like it came from a root that broke the surface and underwent some kind of change now she is growing with the other two!

They look good other than obvious.
I mean the yellow lowers and the leaf that had a tough time with the humidity.
I'll be watching this one. I have my own to germ soon enough ;)

Ok quick little update:

3 females! #2 #5 and #14 are all showing signs of female preflowers. I still have one male and 2 that haven't shown sex but hey 50% is not bad so far. My 3 other different plants I have are showing pistils as well.

I plan to transplant tomorrow into 11L Smart Pots.

I do need some advice. I know there is such a thing as too much light for a newly transplanted plant. Is raising my light a substantial amount enough to not stress the newly transplanted plants? Any advice dealing with transplanting in general would be much appreciated.

Edit: I'm also concerned about potential rootballing. I am getting some yellowing leaves and my Strawberry D-lite has nearly dead leaves. They have been in these containers for about 4-5 weeks so I think it is definitely time for bigger pots for the bigger lot!

Thanks!

I've got one more lady! Second one turned out male.

So that brings the final count of 4/6 females from my remaining MangoHazes.

Now that all of them are sexed I transplanted them one hour before lights off tonight in 11L SmartPots and I gave them a light watering of ThriveAlive and Root 66 to (hopefully) get things started quickly. I don't think they should suffer from too much shock after this. There were some beginnings of root circling but not bad by any means. I held the containers sideways and by gently squeezing after the outside of the container they slide out very easily and gently so hopefully they will take off soon!

I'll be back tomorrow with a proper update pictures of their new homes!

I am back with good news!

It looks like the transplant did nothing but good! They have grown quite a bit the past couple days after so looks like I avoided any kind of shock. There haven't been any further signs of deficiencies past what was there beforehand. Even the leaves that had some signs are starting to green back up so it seems like the transplant was the cure!

My Strawberry D-Lite is still the furthest along so she is about 3 weeks after showing signs and the rest are about 2 weeks so I've got a way to go but I'm really excited.

I've watered them twice since the transplant with ThriveAlive and Root 66 and it has really helped a lot I think. They're gettin' light again so I'm going to water tonight with just RO and a bit of MagiCal.

I think the one week of 18/6 really made a difference because they're really starting to stretch now which is why I wanted to ask if it is too late for a bit of lst. If anybody has any suggestions on this I would love to hear some feedback.

Thanks!

looking good mate, you can take cuttings and once rooted throw into flower will prolly be easier to manage as well to select the 1 you want to keep and keep the seed plants in veg under a fluro or 2. And yeh yu can tie the top of the plant to the base of the stalk will keep it down.
What were you planning on, flowering these out or take some cuts as well?

hello candravamsa,

an other mango haze grower here :) all seems fine for you, the transplant has done good things to your ladies, im not a specialist but its not too late to do lst on your plants in my opinion, mine were very flexible so it can be a great way to have smaller plants with lot of lateral branching. mango haze can double and even triple his size in flower so maybe as mrsmokey advised you, taking clones and flower them directly after rooting like i do or with a minimum of veg times is a good idea. if you have a question or if i can help feel free to pm me.
i have notice one thing, your mango haze #2 looks the same like a mango haze plant of L33T who is a phenotype of NL5xHz. so you are possibly in possession of a mango haze NL5xHz phenotype :D

Well the have actually been under 11/13 for about a month and have actually shown preflowers for 2-3 weeks. This is more or less an imitation of L33ts MH grow. I am considering taking a cutting or two from them for a bonsai in the making but I don't want to stunt their growth. Is it advisable to take some cuttings and continue to let them flower? I've heard mixed opinions about the matter so I'm not incredibly sure.

:) I noticed her NL5xHz expression as well and I have been excited since I first started noticing it. I've spent a good amount of time going over other Mango journals so I was definitely excited about her. I have a feeling that I am going to want to save her so I guess like I asked above is it too risky to try and take a cutting now?

I still plan on doing a proper run with the Mangoes again sometime in the fall when my local weather is a little more forgiving. Hopefully I will be able to have a larger selection to choose from this time but I have a feeling I will be far more successful my second go around.

Thanks for the feedback!

Dude, I love flowering clones. If you take a cutting from a plant thats 2-3 weeks into flowering it will make a super branchy plant. Don't wait too long to take it though. I would for sure take 2 clones off that #2 plant if you don't have a copy of it.

Good luck with it.

Peace.

Ok well I actually bought some rockwool and a clone tray when I first started planning all of this. Plans didn't really work out because of space but I think I can manage if it is worth saving this. Wish me luck!

Any help with where I should take from for the cuttings?

The lower branches are best.

Alright well I have decided to take 2 cuttings from my two haziest females: MgHz #2 and MgHz #14. I decided to preserve #14 as well because she has recently caught up with my #2 and is really looking like a strong, strong haze :). She has developed long internodes and thin fan leaves. She is starting to looking hazier than #2!

I'll have some photos of the group up tonight.

Cloning was a success!

I took two clones from my MH#2 Friday night and two clones from my MH#14 Saturday night. Here they are a couple days later!

Only took a day for them to straighten back up and I can see a little root growth so hopefully they can find themselves in bigger homes soon enough!

My camera is being lent out at the time so a photo update might not happen again for a little while but I appreciate you guys stopping by to help!

Pictures!

Sweet! I'm glad they're doing well.

Cloning tips:

-Keep them under very low light. Avoid placing them directly under your fixture. You want to keep photosynthesis to a minimum while they're rooting.

-The dome encourages mold and rot so it's good to remove it as soon as the plants are cool without it. They'll wilt within about 1/2 hour if they're not ready but will perk back up within a few hours after putting the dome back on. Once they're good without it, squeeze the water out of the cubes and don't water them again until they are damn near weightless. You should have roots popping out of the cubes by then.

It's mostly about moisture control at this point.

Good luck with it.

Peace.

Quick update!

Everything is going great! I finally tied MH #14. She caught up AND passed MH #2 by almost 4 inches in the last week. I don't think I did the most professional job tying her down but it will do.

I will say that I am getting a bit worried about my clones though. They are starting to show red stems and they are getting worse. I know they are rooting because some have popped up top but I'm worried they won't make it to transplant time :(. What could this be?

Well anyway here are the pictures!

My garden had to be taken down because of security reasons.

This is heartbreaking to say the least but I will be back soon. I have fallen in love with taking care of this plant and I don't plan on giving it up. I do appreciate everyone's interest in my grow and I promise I'll be back soon.
