Good to see your back on the growroad Wal , you'd be glad to see the end of the wet season soon mate . My rellos in Tully are going stir crazy . They want out of the joint . Cheers mate!

hey bucketbong ,
man dont blame the rellies on that ,
been weeks of rain , day after day ,
enough to drive anyone batty ....

heres a few pics of the "survivors" , man these are tough plants ,
have coped with over 100 mile an hour wind ,
several doses of 300 mm in a day of rain ,
and several of 500 mm in a few days ...
lately theyve had a little sun , but the rain comes in heavy at around 1 pm and a few hours of it ...
for all of that , the remaining plants are looking pretty good ,,
bred in the wet for the wet ...

Heres a plant , a volunteer that came up in june last year ,
it grew with gusto ,
until when cutting down a few nearby trees it sustained a direct hit ,,
it recovered pretty well , in fact so much so i needed to do a bunch or pruning on it to open it up and stop mould ..

then the cyclone came , and tore at least three quarters off it ,
but still it lived ,
the buds are forming quite well considering ,,
check the stalk out ,, it tells the tale of its life ,
the wet , the wind , the damage ,, its the gnarliest stalk ive ever seen .

Hey DM, great thread, I'm sure that these survivors will be some of the best weed you'll have toked on. Good luck for all the hard work you still have to do and much respect.

Peace

DK

glad to see you still have a few strong ones standing after your bouts with the winds and rains.

your gnarly stalk has earned her battle scars this season.

hey multistrain gardener , thanks man ,
yep lucky the sativas are pretty tough ...
thats one battlescared lady isnt it , a bit more snapped of in a recent storm, wont be long there will be nothing on it to harvest .. hehe ..

hey dk , thanks for dropping by man ,
i have started toking some already harvested , and yep it is pretty nice , im really enjoying the high ,, havent built up a tolerance yet after a few weeks on it , so in the respect its excellent ...
cheers mate ...

hey bucketbong ,
appeciate the comments man and agree on the hardiness and resistance to pests and mould being excellent traits to carry further ..
thankfully ive been pleasently surprised at how potent this strain is ..

I have noted over the years growing these types and during monsoonal seasons , that its not necessarily open airy bud that will resist mould ,
ive seen as many of them mould as the others ,
some quite tight nuggety sativas will also resist mould very well ..
its usually the caterpiller attacks that leave them open to mould infestation .

theres a bit of debate as to whether tropical sativas grow tight buds , i can certainly attest to it .

I know theres still a lot of these varieties around , some have dropped off in vigour and potency , but good stuff can be found ,
Im sure where i live most dont take advantage of the season i usually do , they are stuck with the monsoon time and therefore mostly growing tropical sativas , nothing else will handle it ...

testing testing ...

Hi nutella ,, thanks man ,
ive been playing around with the pictures so as to find the best way to view them ,,
it seems the last one is best , open in a new tab and one can enlarge the picture to see the resin etc , gunja pics just arent as good if you cant see that ...
Ill try to focus more in the coming season on getting better quality pictures , the use of a pogo stick type of tripod might be the go , just one leg on it to steady ones hand .
It takes a bit of time to get decent shots , but its worthwhile .

yw DM, not sure if your resizing your pics m8 before you upload them as i use a program called PIXresizer but anytime I resize my pics I lose a lot of quality in the pic, a crystal clear pic will become not so clear to me after i have resized it but if i upload them without resizing the picture is perfect but i always worry about the exif info being stored in the pic and thats why i resize m8.

what camera are you using as your pics look really good, i got a nikon d40 for taking weed pics and its a really good camera and the pictures always come out first class, then i purchased a 105mm af lens for the nikon for macro pics, still learning but its very rewarding when you get good pics, all your pics look first class DM, going to keep checking this thread out, sorry for not posting in it before, best of luck with your grow DM and looking forward to seeing more pics. :)

Hi nutella ,
yes i also use a nikon ,( they seem to take the clearest and most crisp pics )
and got the 105 mm macro lense ,
same as you ive tried it , but need to work with it to get the hang of it better ...
ohh the camera is a d5000 ..

often its just a case of making the time to familiarize oneself with those things, i havent as yet taken much time , but i will do over the winter ...

thanks for dropping by man , feel free anytime ..

Sure has been mr wallace ,
but i think its ended ,,,, yahoooooo ,,,
Its official ,, we have survived the wet of 2010/11 ...

Darn im enjoying the sunshine , just lovely ,,, looks like it will get dry and cold this winter ,, fast too by the feel of it ..

Weather like this will give me an excellent grow season for winter /spring ,, wahoooooooooo ....

Hey mr squiggles , always a pleasure to see you ..

The sun is still shining here ,, well at the daytime anyhow ,, hehe
Certainly been a year of learning and unfortunately a bit of dissapointment ,
but theres always light at the end of the tunnel ,, been a bloody long tunnel ..

I look foward to the next grow thread , this one is almost done ,, bar a few possible shots of hopefully late success ,
be great to see grow threads become the more popular threads again ,
folks have gone a bit off path ,,,
remember the old grow threads guys??????
heres another thing we need more of ....
pic is ssh ,, formed a massive bud by the end ..

hey

Hi DM,

Hoped I helped, and just wanted to say. I'd like to have that last one. As always lookin good . Be well...Ns

hi noshow ,,
yep that ssh in the pic was very nice ,,
it had a vanilla smell about it , quite sweet ,, made good hash also ,

i remember well sampling it with a friend , really put a smile on my dial , great mood enhancer ...
I think shantis haze crosses are excellent for my garden , they have a nice amount of vigour , which i really need with the low hours i work with during winter/spring .. and generally enough indica in them that they dont reveg when the daylight hours are at their maximum ..

I thought there would be no more pics to show ,
but ill be grabbing a few shots of the ladies that are finishing up in the lovely sunshine we are having ..
Two weeks of perfect weather has made a huge difference , and also gives me hope for a better season this year ...
pics to follow next week ..
