Grail: The Ultimate Haze Hybrid

That makes me think back to days gone by and a strain my brother in law used to grow. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, 66' - 68' if I remember correctly.

Hello Brick Top,
Thank you for sharing yr story with us all.
When I read yr story it reminds me of the 5HzA Nevil produced several years ago.
The seeds were Haze A derived from came out of a 1969 Haze Bro's stock. I wouldn't be surprised that the Dalat you refer to would be something very simular to the Haze A parent, maybe even one and the same.
Everybody, even hard ass tokers, that smoked a 5HzA spliff pissed their pants. It was the strongest weed I've ever tasted.
Sounds alot like yr Dalat to me...
Kind regards,
YS

the travel channel runs a show called "no reservations" which features a former ny chef sampling cuisines from around the world. one of his recent visits was to dalat. considering the war torn, third world views most have of viet nam i was shocked to see this idyllic mountain city that was largely untouched by the war. the 19th and 20th century french influence abounds and it sort of reminded me of the french quarter in new orleans but so vastly different from the rest of the country it calls home. the populace was civilized and educated, one could see the abilities to develop world class strains like we seek. good luck in the hunt. peace-biteme

What Cern said .The close ups made me drool Kanga. I love the light green colour of the first bud. Oaxacan X Mango Haze sounds incredible as does the madness X SSH. Would the Mango x Oax be faster finishing smaller trees than the Madness cross or would the SSH speed the MMadness up? Thanks mate . A pleasure.

Hi BB.....I crossed the Oaxacan to the early maturing Mango Haze I had, so this should help to speed up flowering and make it smaller.
I hope that using this SSH that I like will definetly help with the MM flowering time.
I dont know if you remember but I was working on my MM x to a MM clone only plant. Well the good news on that is I have now got flowering time down that it should be finishing in about 4 weeks. I have also crossed a male from this strain with a Ghana and a few different Hash Plant x Haze Pheno's. I will have a look over winter with Nev to see if they are going to be any good.

Josh.....As far as I know there is no African in the MM.

Thanks again everybody for your comments, we are glad you like the MM buds, just need Nev to do his smoke report.

Brick top.....I am currently growing some lowland Dalat, but unfortunetly I only have what I am told it is like.....but it does sound like what you described.
I hope so:D....a pic that was taken awhile ago, it's the plant at the back.

Hi kanga ,
i like the sounds of ssh and mm ,
it will be a very vigerous plant ,
but i will still be able to take advantage of it finishing in spring here ,
just that bit of indica in there will shorten the flowering enough to stop the ratstailing full sativas do in october .

I would think it will be a heavy yeilder even though it will have no veg time ..

Thanks for the info Kanga,
Well it probably reminds me so much like it just because the Malawi Haze is the most sativa Haze hybrid that I have ever grown outdoors, but whatever the case, It looks awesome.

I have never heard of Dalat, before Bricktop mentioned it, but if it is a mind bending sativa, it shouldn't surprise me that you got it.

My outback

I snapped a few pics outback. The plants in the green house are going into direct sun. Ill move them tonight. We have some great weather coming this way. 70f.

I think the one on the right is Nevilles Haze.

Heres a Long winded Maui pheno. It might be real good. Lots of trichomes, and slow going.

Hi mate, Dalat is a town up in the highlands along the Ho Chi Minh trail, (spent some time there a few years back), anyway so the lowland black isn't referred to as a Dalat.

Also mate I love the sound of those crosses, but don't forget to revisit the Oaxacan Space Shuttle, OxNL5Hz - it already has the catchy name.

Lol....Yeah I know as you can see the pic is Vietnam Lowland Black, as is this new one I just did:D I am told this is stronger but doesnt grow as big, just have to wait and see.

I am just about to pollinate the SS with a few SS males and Oax males, Nev would like to see a bit more Oax taste to it:D

Damn, Kanga... If the head of your Oaxacan line is anywhere near as clear, happy and kind as the old Guerreroan that Chimera used in his Highland Mex x Blueberry release... oh man. Not to mention every other line you guys are working with... It's a sweet time for Sativa lovers. I am immensely pleased that these lines have been making a true comeback, and that these ones are in the hands of peeps who know what they're looking for and how to find it (and who can/will distribute the progeny!).

I'm following this thread on a daily basis and paying very close attention, because I will absolutely be growing these lines upon their release. This is already one of the most well-documented creations of a new hybrid I've ever seen, and the work is just beginning. Having this much information and detail on the parent strains is going to be an enormous advantage to growers once the hybrids are available. Thanks for your diligent efforts...

I do not know anything about lowland Dalat, and as I had said there were several sativa strains grown in the highlands province and the GI's just called it all Dalat so I really have no idea of if what my brother in law brought home is the same strain as later became known to some around the world as Dalat. But if what you have is at least close to what my brother in law brought home and then for a number of years grew, you have something special.

Another little story about the stuff is just before my sister and brother in law got married my then soon to be brother in law and I were hanging around he and my sister's apartment one night. We did just two or three bong hits and very soon after I did not have a clue where I was.

I don't mean that as I was confused because I thought I knew where I was. I was sure that I was in my home sitting on my couch watching my TV and petting my dog. It wasn't until I got up to go to the bathroom and opened a door and found it was a closet instead of a bathroom that I realized I was not where I thought I was and that I had been calling their dog by my dog's name. I had been totally positive that I was at home and that my soon to be brother in law had come to visit me.

I was no beginner toker at the time. I had been getting high for about five years by then and smoking strains like Malawi Gold, Panama Red, Colombian Gold, Acapulco Gold, Durban Poison, Highland Oaxacan Gold, some unspecified Jamaican strains and others that were more or less similar and while they were all good and all very potent none had ever caused anything similar to happen to me. The stuff was just incredible. It put you in Oz with the Lollipop Guild. Just a few hits and you could find yourself thinking or saying, Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.

the beauty of this particular part of viet nam along with the smoking sagas as described by mr. brick top intrigued me enough to do a small investigation and the one point repeatedly mentioned was the french influence in the development not only of this mj strain, but of many exotic fruits and veggies as well. i read more than one author who maintained that the most influential french family in this ag community has been in this part of viet nam for many generations, in fact, has never left the country in spite of decades of strife. residents, including the early french settlers, largely consider themselves to be apolitical and dalat evolved into a safe haven of sorts that welcomed everyone. and as far as the hunt for the grail? the insinuation is being made that the plant is still there but those who have her are not interested in the publicity? it might be one of those things where if you go looking and asking, they will make sure you do not find it? peace-biteme

Sorry everyone if I am not getting back to your questions, I am just super busy, but I will later:D
I just thought I would put up these pics of a African ( Kariba Suprise ). I think this is going to be killer judging from its smell and stickiness, it really does remind me of old school MJ.
It is also a earlier flowerer than the rest of the KS's.

Purple Thai, 83 days of 12/12 from sprouting, gonna go over 100, maybe 120, just to give you guys some idea of what the most Thai dominant phenos are like. You'll spot em easy enough because they stay green with just hints of purple, the rest are pink/purple and finish a bit quicker.
