i can see how there was such a drama over it ..

i would love to see you grow some cindy there kanga ,
they would love what you give to them ,
and you would love what they give to you .
ill be sure it comes to you for your next season ..

Hey CF.....Those shots were taken down in the Victorian High Country.
Just before I went travelling.

Hi Donald......Ohhhh not more strains:D I want to get back to growing my strains again. I have to thank Bushweed for reminding me what I am missing.....lol
Its funny but the other pheno is nothing like the C99 one.

and how many lbs of that mm can you smoke , hehehe

if you grew them ,,
as im getting to know you ,,
i think youd like them , though still prefer your sativas ,,
the odd bit of something else is always refreshing ..

when your raised on sativas like most of us aussies , its hard to delve to far into the indica spectrum ,
its the clear head highs all the way ,,
would you agree mr kanga?

Lol.....yes you are right I do like seeing different varieties:D

Yes mate I do like the sativa's......3-4 good tokes on a joint and its that trippy happy high for half a day, saves on the lungs when its like that:D

Hehe, if you lads ever get really sick of that MM you can always send a lb up to us Brits!

I'd shit a heap of bricks if I obtained a lb of fine tropical sativa here, such a thing is but a distant memory!

Gotta say, there is a Mexican look to that other Chcocolope with those small leaves.

Glad to see the garden is still going well despite the floods. It's kind of mind-blowing to an indoor grower to go looking for plants that washed away! lol

Truly is a different art, growing outdoors in the bush to growing indoors and I admire you fellas for all that you have to go through. Then I see the huge trees and I realise why all the hard work is worthwhile!

Your just going to have to jump into one of those metal birs for that to happen:D

Its funny but I have a Oaxacan right up behind that Choco and you really can see the resemblance.

yeah mate us outdoor guys really cop it sometimes. We just had temps in the high 30's for a week + and then last night I thought it was going to flood again:eek: But as you say in the end the finish product is what makes you keep coming back:D

I absolutely hate flying, not the flying, just I'm a big bloke with long legs and I find being packed into a veal crate type seat for more than 2 hours really uncomfortable, and I have sinusitis so the pressurisation always messes with that and leaves me feeling really shitty for a day or two. Shame you still don't have 50 quid pom boats otherwise I'd get on one.

Interesting the Oaxacan and Chocolope look similar.

If Chocolope is Chocolate Thai x Cannaloupe Haze then it probably indicates there is some Mexican ancestry in the Choco Thai I suppose. If Cannaloupe Haze is C99 that would make it NL-dom Jack Herer x Shiva Skunk worked a lot so it's mostly NL and Skunk with a touch of Haze.

I wonder if the hot wet outdoor conditions are bringing out the Mexican influence from the Skunk?

I used to grow outdoors here, had some spots hidden deep inside a swamp that itself was inside a big forest. Here, it means lots of carrying stuff in during March and April when it's still cold and wet and running the strong risk of ending up with bugger all if it's not a good summer. 30+ temps and floods must be pretty tricky to deal with but here we have different risks, such as stepping off the path through the swamp by a foot and sinking upto your balls in freezing black mud. My mate couldn't pull me out until he stopped laughing.

The earth in the swamp is clumpy black mud so we had to carry in a lot of coco bricks to mix with it, we prepared 50 holes and planted 18 inch cuttings in em. Came back a week later and every one had been eaten by slugs. We haven't bothered since, last two years have been such bad weather there wasn't much point.

Actually, that last pic really does sum up where I live pretty well - hills, sheep, rain and wind. Those trees are typical of how nearly all the trees here grow - bent by the wind that comes stright in off the Atlantic.

The thing about guerilla growing is you have to get those slugs before they get you! Traps are the order of the day in springtime, before everything is lush and tasty.

I'm trying to figure out how to deal with skunks in the spring. My tilled earth is really good for grub diggin' and I lost about half my plants last year because they were buried by grub diggin' skunks!

I don't really wanna hurt the buggers so no glass I'm thinking a chili flake infusion in my soil...

Incidentally BH, finely ground glass is the best way to deal with early slugs. Just sprinkle it around the base of your plant.

it can be tough to stay ahead of pests, whether insect, bird or beast cause if they have infested your garden area most damage is immediate and severe. if i am making guerilla sets in an area new to me i usually will start out with only a few sets in order to figure out what is up with this territory, setting out maybe 1/2 dozen or so. then i return a few days later and inspect before making final planting decisions. if the area is workable, i will set out the rest of the flat but if there are problems, they must be addressed first or in many cases, i just move.

i am fortunate to live in a low populated area and i have more places to plant than i have plants as a rule. moving from the spot is often the best option. however, i will always be jealous of those like kanga and their options. lol. there was a time when i hated the tropics cause i am a sweater but as old age catches up, i now relish that sort of heat. especially as i gaze out the window at two feet of snow and 7 below this morning. lol. i am not sure how well i would get along with tropical pests, especially snakes and the like? but i am way more willing to give it a go today should the opportunity arise then i was a few years ago. lol. peace-biteme

Never heard that tip about ground glass, cheers. We placed a ring of the blue slug pellets around the base of each plant. The problem here is you have to go back every week to renew the pellets as there is so much rain they wash away. Went back after a week to renew the pellets and as you can see in the pics, only a leaf or two remained on most, one or two still had the top half intact. On each plant though there was a dozen or more dead slugs that the pellets had got.

Big problem here is all the land is owned by someone and used for something, most of it has sheep on it so you're stuck to the forests and odd bits of unused land. Many of these are out of dounds because you can't get in and out without being seen and people walk their dogs everywhere. I've had half a dozen grows lost to dog walkers finding them. So three years back when the pics are from we scoured the area to find a spot where n odog walkers would ever tread. We found this island of dry ground in the middle of a swamp. We knew it was there because 100 years ago there was a farmhouse there, took us three days to find a track through the swamp to reach it, fell in the swamp a few times, eventually found the old track to the farm and even that had a break in it as the wooden bridge over the stream in the swamp was long rotted away and you had to wade through this stream that was a foot of water on top and 2 foot of black shit underneath.

The other big problem here is the ground is so rocky, it's all slate with abotu a foot of thin rocky soil on top in most places. You can see in the roots of the uprooted tree how rocky it is. Other pics show a hole I'd started digging and you can see all the rocks around the hole. The big rock in the last pic came out of the hole. You have to dig a hole, remove all the rocks, then backfill with soil you have carried in. Also, the soil is so full of haematitie iron ore it's red in many places and the PH is very low.

I'm thinking of having a go at a guerilla plot again this year but I've no idea where, I've attempted plots in just about every possible spot in this area. I'm going to have to really search for somewhere this year, and chose a strain that finishes very early, I might try this White S1 cut I have as it is done in 42 days indoors. I'm at 56.5N so the only decent weather is June, July, August and if you're lucky, September can be nice enough, October is cold and wet, plants will be mush if they are still alive in October.

I've got an English mate round the corner from me who remembers how in England one hot Summer, his friend dropped some seeds in the ground and then went to the Continent for 4 months and when he came back the plants were all above roof height:) Must have been a lucky season.

Kanga mate, these Malana Creams look nice

Yeah, must have been a nice year. 1997 was a very good sumemr here, I got really badly sunburnt at Gastonbury that year after I fell asleep in front of my tent about 11am and when my friends woke me up at 1PM I was red as a lobster.

I expect your friend lived in the south of England where the weather is much better than up here in the far north. They have palm trees growing on the south coast but up here they would never grow.

Those Malana do look nice. I'd be very tempted to rub those to make your own Malana Cream hand rub hash.

Hi Guys,

Hey biteme I got heat rash over the last few weeks because it has been so hot and humid, and like you I sweat alot. I think it is because I grew up in a very hot dry climate and now the humidity gets me:(

Mr skinner try laying fine mesh chicken wire around your plants then the critters cant dig them up:D
If you can start your seedling under lights until they are past the slug and grasshopper attack, helps, I have the same problem and it works for me.

BH I havent spent a lot of time in England so dont know it to well. Definetly looks like tough growing over there though.
I really like the stonework that i saw and that pic is great.
My Mum was born in South wales. spent a bit of time there.....luved the old Castles:D

Thanx for that again Bushy, Yeah that Malana is going nicely, still not showing any sign of heading yet, so I would say she is going to be a big girl.
Went and checked the Thai's and Laos plants yesterday.....Jeez are they getting big:eek:, Could see 6-7mtr + out of them. I see a few have very nice dark, nearly black Trunk and branches.....havent seen that for a long time:D
Here is a pic of the Zambian Copper, its a bit hard to take pics of coz it is not a lush plant like most.
Also another Fet 303 and a Kali Mist, These 2 plus the Malana were still left standing after the flood, although you can see at the bottom of the KM, it had a bit of damage.

Ooh Zambian Copper, I always wanted to get hold of that one. it's supposed to be related to Malawi Gold but more powerful. If you can makes seeds it would be worth preserving that line imho.

Everything where I live is old, my house is over 200 years old. Lots of old ruins from the Romans near here too, I have to be careful what I say as I don't want to give away my location but it's a very beautiful part of the country with lots of mountains and it's always cold and wet, like 200 plus days a year with rain. Very hard to grow anything outdoors here, back in the 90s I had a few successful crops but I had use of my uncle's land back then, we had to sell it when he died and I've not pulled off an outdoor grow since.

On the critters digging up plants thing, there is one thing that I know works. My friend had a big issue with the mad old lady next door and her 30-odd cats, they would shit all over his garden constantly. I suggested blasting the lil buggers with a high pressure washer but my friend is a animal lover. In the end we bought some stuff called 'Silent Roar' it's basically Lion shit and stinks like all shit does but this stuff is full of Lion smell so the cats kept away.

I've read loads of threads in the past about using hair or shit from predators to keep critters away, if you have a wildlife park near you I'm sure they would be delighted to give you a sack full of shit from something with big teeth and a bad attitude like a Lion, Tiger etc.

kanga, enjoy the sweating cause atm, i am looking out the window at the exact opposite and trust me, it is way worse! lol. peace-biteme

looking good mate they may not be full as the rest but i still think there special lol.

Yeah mate I hope so and I hope it is nice and dry for them to finish properly:D

Biteme, yeah mate I know the cold can be a pain in the arse, dont mind it when there is some snow to play in, but just being freezing cold is no fun at all:(

I have heard good reports about the ZC I hope it is as good as they say. I have some nice males, 2 of which had nice purple stems so I should get plenty of seed. I also have Kariba Surprise, not as big as the ZC, but looking good:D

Your area sounds good, I remember my first trip to Europe and how I was blown away by the history, something apart from Indigenous history we lack.
But I guess we make up for it in Nature.

Zambian copper eh? My old man worked in Zambia in the 60s and smoked a lot of weed with the Zambians, cos that's what they liked to do. He remembers African ganja as STRONG.
