Here is another new selection from the one and only S to the B. My real question is just how limited will this one be... I would act quick though...

I started 10 magic beans on September 25, 2010. So far 99% germination rate. The bean "J" was embryo transplanted so I hope that she will still be okay. Time will tell with it.

I know this is a new selection from SB of a real time classic.

I have read a bit on our forums about this cultivar, but if anyone wouldn't mind clarifying if there is indeed skunk in this line that would be cool to know.

Thanks for taking a peek at something I hope to work with for a long to come.

Seed Gods please help a brother out,

Lots of love,

Chana Masala

Hey friend,

I was interested in these as well. I decided to go with the Nl5 x afghan for the more medical effect. I thought that these would be good for pain, and daytime. So I am interested to see how yours come out. Good luck...Ns

Hello Chana

It is nice to see a grow of this reworked hybrid. I have a couple packs and hope to gain some insight from this thread here to apply to my own grow, so if you don't mind I will be back often. Here's to a high female/male ratio! Peace!

Great Choice !

Hi! Chana... Those are definately the one's you want if you want to breed. These genetics are ones I want, and will be following your thread closely. resinbud, ;)

G`day Chana
Comin along for a ride .I`m very interested in this variety myself, and would like to get my hands on some .A question for you bro do you have that kind of leggyness on other varieties as well? Will you plant the sprouts deeper in their medium to reduce overall height ?I suspect they may need support if they dont harden soon .
Looking fwd to your progresses .
Thanks for sharing .

It is NL5 x Haze C - no skunk. Maybe you are thinking of NHS.

I have some of these going too. Of all the limited releases this year, NL5/Haze was the one I knew I needed to jump on. Good luck!

Looking forward to seeing these too Chana.... I have 2 and hoping for a girl....
I'm pretty sure these are an F1 of NL5xHzC, with no skunk.... As far as I'm aware NHS is (NL5xHz)xSK#1.

ps I seem to remember someone (DWC225 I think) saying shanti told them; the longest flowering plant in these packs is 10 weeks.... (I may be dreaming though  LOL)

Hi noshow! Thanks for the well wishes. I hope I everything stays its course. No, is your NL5xAfghan posted here?

Cheers to you with your mulit packs. Do you think you will be remaking the line for your collection or will you just select and keep a couple females around of the ones you like? Thanks for saying hello...

Aloha Resinbud... how is your summer time treating you... starting to get cold in the great white north... just the way we indoor growers like it. I am just excited as you brother. I have never consciously smoked NL1 or NL5 (unless Ortega is NL1, then I have smoked NL1). So this is great pallet development for me. Thanks again for referral for Mota's IBL. Looking forward to run those god willing in 2011.

Best of luck with these Chana! I'll be followin' along closely.

Cheers

Hi Sensimilla13, cool brother... if you have any feed back I am all ears...

Uncle EL, what is good my man? Thanks for the bump. The legginess was total grower style. I like to utilize what I have, so in the case of vegging out these particular cycle of seedlings, at the time the own space I had was under 2 T5-4 footers. Could of used a least another 4 more bulbs to make them sit more compact. Hopefully it is in the budget for the next round. But it is fine for me and the plants are healthy.... I made pliable metal stakes for the seedlings and all was fine.

Hi HHG got to love SB on the limited editions... thanks for confirming there is no skunk. I kind of didn't want any with this one. Would like to find something that is NL5 dominate so I can taste what NL5 would be or at least come as close to it as possible. Thanks for chiming in.

Hey Chana, best of growing with these babies. I didn't know they had these or I would have got some. I will be following this one. Please post more pics if you don't mind. How did you find out about these anyway? I would like to get some.

Be blessed,
Dawn

Good morning Dawn, I appreciate your kind words and am hoping to make a good go of it. I am sure it is not to late to make another order... seed collecting is expensive and addictive... just contact the man upstairs and see what he has to say about it...

Looking forward to seeing these too Chana.... I have 2 and hoping for a girl....

Hi William, how is the NL5xAfghan Scissor hash been treating you. Thanks for reconfirming pedigree once again. Overwhelming sometimes... I am sure I know where you got those NL5's from... please send him some love from Chana. I dont know what happen there... any who, hope to try to keep up with your trees and still constructing the rooms for this to bloom in... Looking forward to long or short flowering pheno's hoping to find something that will be 85% head stash... but finding NL5 dominance should make for faster flowering for sure...

Take care,

Chana

Humble updates and trucking along...

Soiless, cocco and perlite mix. Plants need a drink since the re-pot from beer cups to 5 gallons. But still none the worst for the wear. Skipped the 3 gallon stage but that is cool. Still worked out.

Peace and love,

Chana

How are you going brother? Thanks for your response, answered my questions precisely .
Do your T5s give off much heat ? I like to use mutiple 25w CFLs ,tho after experimenting I found for best results the bulb should be within 2 cm of the plants for vigourous growth ,which requires constant monitoring to keep the leaves burning from touching the bulb [All good if you have the time .Not recommended for buzy / lazy prople ]
So Chana whats your plan with this lot ie how big will they be when flowered ,do you intend to breed this variety? How many plants per square foot / metre are you planning also how many watts per m/ft ?
Thanks for sharin .

Hi EB,

You are most welcome and I enjoy seeing your post on the boards, especially in one of my journals.

Well if all goes to plan, and I dont get robbed, raided, or struck with another private members bil, acts of terrorism or catastrophic weather events... I am going to flower out in my smallest space first. I built a couple turbo tents with 2K in each. I will hopefully make the best observations and selections there. I also would like to recreate the line to keep for my collection, share with sick friends that cant afford proven pedigree or trade with some others.

I am fortunate to have larger blooming rooms. Ultimately, they will go in a 6k room and grown to trees. No side light or fancy stuff, just cross beams and 8 to 12 plants in a 4x8 table under 2k of light using verzontial reflectors (shout out to Dynamite an Medicine Man for that one). In Canada growing with exemption, I try to be mindful of blooming plant numbers.

As to the CFL's and the T5's thanks for the info man.

I like CFL's but I do prefer the t5's. Here is a picture of my mother room it has 6 t5 4x4 fixtures and a 1000k mh on a right rail. I try to cycle the lights every 18 hrs, so the room is 24hrs on but each section only gets directly light for 18hrs a day. This helps a little with heat and cuts my mother room electrical consumption in half which means I probably save about 75 dollars a month by doing that. So far the plants dont seem to mind and they are a very light and lush green. When all my rooms are filled, this room runs at about 29 degrees. Like to get it to a 23, but I will settle for 27 degrees.

Heat is a deficiency that I cope with. When running larger indoors, it is always there. But with time and budget, it gets cooler and my best crops our in this coming season, Canadian winter.

Here is another pic of my seedling and cloning rack. The top shelf has 2 T5's 4 footer bulbs (soon to add another 3 more tubes). The second shelf has two CFL 4 foot fixtures and the bottom shelf has 4 CFL fixtures. I would like to swap the second and bottom row to T5's, when time and budget allow.

Thanks for saying hello,

Chana

and yes mr. billy liar, i remember dwc225's thread on nl5/haze and even spoke with him in pm's. and it was not just 10 weekers, but he thought the possibility of finding some in 8 week range to be very real. ten weekers are satisfactory depending on trigger time, the onset of flowering. that is the real key and imho, the secret lies in the nl used as this one has notoriety for slow flowering phenos. peace-biteme

Hi CM. I have some 4" coco cubes that I have no use for in my hempy setup. Could I crumble them and mix with perlite and use with hydro nutes? What is the coco/perlite ratio?

Hi HHG,

I say go for. Give it a shot in a few pots and see how the coco quality is. I know canna's coco is neutral and been sterilized...

I find the ratios that I use coco in does not make my feedings and ph fluctuate out of the norm nor do I have to use canna's recommendation and have a specific coco nutrient. Just feed like you would in soiless mix and you should be grooving.

I have tried 25% coco to 25% perlite and 30% Coco to 30% perlite. My measurements are not exact just trying to get the soil mix as airy/fluffy as possible with no lumps.

I have never used the bricks of coco before, but I am sure it would be worth trying.

Good luck with it,

Chana

Hey Chana,

I have not put much thought into making any f2s, but I am planning on taking clones of all the seedlings, flowering out the seeds and then hopefully establishing a mother or two- if space weren't an issue I would try to mother the seedlings but... All looks in good order- I wish I had as much space ;) I dig your style- keep it cool my man. Peace!

Give thanks Greenfever, styles we got just like the great cultivars we are both growing. Good work on your SSH and CMxHzC. Wishing you had more space too by brother...

Respect,

CM

Thanks for the bump GF, once again.

I have been in Haze mode, and was not mindful that light feedings are not the norm in Mr. Masala's garden, so in turn, you may notice that a few NL5Hz pheno's are lacking nitrogen as with Haze, I learned that they do not need very much food. I am now at about 800 ppm (1.6 ec).

I also was not feeding them any micro nutrients. I believe that yesterday's feedings was good and they should bounce back nicely from my error. I gave the Home and Garden Mulizen a try this time around.

This strain is really nice, and the expression even early on, seems special. Can't wait to see if it is anything like Joshazen's older selection. Hi J, you wouldn't happen to have any of those pictures would you. Does my selection in veg look anything like your NL5xHz from the Seed Bank? Probalby way to early, but I am just a little excited.

I am learning a lot with my current MNS offers. Watching Nevile veg side NL5, I have to say they look similar. The difference to me, is that I see NL5 lends itself well to Haze. It was like they are made for eachother. Dont get me wrong NH look great, and there are Busy pheno similar to the NL5 leaning phenos, but there just seems to be tighter nodes.

The NL5xHz is also expressing female sex. Again, maybe to early, but the pheno's not showing sex yet, I assume are male, but I will reconfirm my assumption in a later up-date. For the thread my lights are on 18/6 over the 4x8 table, but the room is 24 hrs.

I also had the pleasure of emailing Dr. Atomic. Really nice chap and doing some great work out West in the Great North. Respect to Dr. Atomic and his NL#5.

Take care,

Chana

The last of them... and another small observation or guess... but I believe the NL5 that have the Haze dominance are lighter feeders, I think this can also be said for the G13xHaze, as they do not have nitrogen deficiency, which I can not say for the NL5 leaning pheno's or the G13 leaning ones. Just my observation so looking forward to learning more about feeding and relation to pheno expression to see if indeed is a correct assumption...

Ma Salam,
