Thanks for taking the time to read it, fucker...:D

"R & D" means Research and Development...DJ only "wakes n bakes" when he is assessing a strain that he's working on breeding/perfecting...otherwise it is not something he regularly engages in...DJ is a strong advocate for everyone taking a break once in a while...if possible...it was part of our discussion on moderation versus abuse in the consumption of cannabis...incidentally, it's recently been announced that DJ will be giving another class on October 9th...go if you can...jay:D

Thanks Jay I was wondering all night what that meant LOL. You guys are so so lucky having a guy like that giving classes I wish I was living in the states sometimes. Is their any more news on the guy that recorded the class weather or not his allowed to put it up on the net ?. Im a big believer in a break from weed sometimes, so long as you are not in pain or suffering. Did he say if he found it hard giving up for a few days do you recall ? and did i hear you say that he only likes to smoke at night ? LOL as you can tell iv got loads of questions about this man.

I've met with him since the class and to my knowledge he still hasn't done anything with the tapes...he told me he's just been listening to them over and over again...I've been tempted to ask him if I can borrow them so as to make a transcript for all to read, but I really don't think that's necessary...I believe I wrote down most of the important parts of that particular class...I do, however, look forward to going back and continuing where he and I left off...I have so many more questions than before, including additional ones from MNS members who found out about it after the fact...to stop smoking for a few days is not hard for DJ...I would say he thinks of it as necessary...he looks forward to taking a bit of time off so that he can rebuild his tolerance and balance himself out again...it allows him to appreciate his medicine more when he partakes...in that respect he looks at his breaks as somewhat exciting...he looks forward to taking breaks because they benefit him and his state of mind...it sounded like a form of discipline when he talks about it...he is disciplined enough to take time off, so his reward is that much greater at the end of his "fast", if that makes sense...as I understand it, he does much of his smoking at night, or in the after hours...he spends much of his day working on different projects, so he is not inclined to medicate constantly...think of it more as the beer at the end of the day...he is a focused individual and he enjoys his work and his downtime equally...when everyone else would go and medicate during class breaks, he would sit and smoke his tobacco pipe...the only time I saw him try anything cannabis related was when someone put some fine quality hash in front of him, and even then he just tried it...listening to him break down the effects of the hash as it hit him was a wonderful experience and really gave me a window into what he thinks when he smokes...he's always assessing cannabis and it's effects and that really is something to be respected...hope I answered all of your questions...take care...jay:)

what a lovely response thanks so much for that Jay you answered everything i wanted to know mate cheers for that. Your whole thread has made me think real deeply about my relationship with cannabis and iv decided to follow in DJs footsteps and go on a 5 day break clear my head a little. What an amazing class you lucky bugger LOL. I loved what he said about healing and helping people as well so important in life that we give a little back considering how fortunate we are in the western world. As iv said mate well done for taking all those notes priceless information and i shall be checking in everyday for new updates. LOVE DJ SHORT AND I LOVE MNS:D

hey Jay, good info, I got this all in one document..

-did you / can i post this to IC , or has someone else done so? as I dont beleive I saw this info in the DJ class thread

-also did DJ say what light time he uses for veg? I know if you go through his notes the importance of playing with time schedules, and he gave a few as you mentioned, but I did not see what lighting schedule he uses !!!!

if you don't the answer have are you going back on October?

Hello pepper...appreciate your kind words...;)

You are more than welcome to post this to IC...I don't know if they'll let you, but you can try...he advises to play with flowering times, which is why you don't see a definite photoperiod in my notes...it's all different for different strains and set-ups, but in general never veg under 24/0 and never flower under 12/12...I have to work on the 9th, but I'll go on the 10th if nothing gets in butta's way...the first day is all syllabus anyway, so I'm not too worried about missing that day...jay:)

hi again jay

could you go further into what DJ was talking about with the healing process he went through. He sounds like a real deep sort of person, could you also tell us some more about his personality. cheers:D

It looks like JB ditched his account, although I have no idea why. Hope things are good your way, JB, stay safe and come back soon!

i hope all is well with jay. he's such a nice person always brings a good vibe with his posts. hopefully he just pressed the wrong button on his account or something.

Why not flower under 12/12? Is it for the same reason as not 24/0; simply too much light for that part of the plant's cycle?

It's easier if I quote him (from his book).

"Specifically, I find the single most powerful influence to the Indica-dominant phenotype is the 18/6 veggie cycle and 12/12 flowering cycle. The 18/6 veggie and 12/12 flower cycle is an attempt (however poor) to mimic the Indica producing outdoor environment (photo-period). It is my belief that this light timing cycle strongly influences the Indica phenotypic expression. Photo periods at the equator would be closer to a 13/11 veggie cycle and an 11/13 flower cycle.

The exact photo-period formula that I incorporate into my growing/breeding regime will remain a trade secret, but my advice is to experiment with different photo-periods, keep good notes and pay attention. Avoid the 18/6-12/12 photo-periods while "tweaking" the times in half-hour increments or less with each breeding cycle until more desirable results int he finished product and the next generation of offspring are noted."

24/0 has neg effects on phenotype.

He's seen it kill plants before.

Everything needs rest.

I agree on 24/0 being a bad veg idea...I did this for vegging when I very first started, with an HPS no less :) I found my plants grew quicker on 18/6 than they did on 24/0.

Not sure why he feels like the light timing thing is a trade secret...seems a bit silly to me to talk about helping medical users but then lord over the fact that you've found a superior light timing scheme that you're unwilling to disclose.

Hi FreshGenetics,

Thnx for sharing the info! definitely something to remember and try!

At the moment I'm working on 24/0 for cloning (Haze) and this works out really well. (all rooted at 11 days)
What can (should) I do for the best of me clones? change the hours of light to ?

Again Thnx man for the NICE post!

He only discussed healing in general.

He is indeed a very deep man.

He's cooler than a fan.

This makes sense. I guess if you were really keen with the sativas (or the indicas for that matter), you could mimic their native growing area's light cycle... but that sounds like a lot of work. I guess that the transition from growth to bud is the most critical time for plants, so maybe testing a gradated lighting schedule that mimics that part of the plant's natural cycle would... do something <shrug> (shock the plant less, maybe?).

Class Clown :)

Light regimen has a huge impact when trying to keep plants alive for a long time as well. I have found males will stay in a vegetative state much longer when exposed to proper night cycles. Most males after a couple years under 24 hours of light will start to flower in my experiences. Females will do this as well but it seems more imperative for males to rest IMO.
