questions for Nevil

G13XNL5 that would be a humdinger right there for the indy heads!Man you have so many things to offer to the world that have been watered down and bred out. It's gonna be nice to watch it all evolve!

Water vortex magnetiser

Could one be made by gluing 6 rare earth magnets to a Tornado Tube?

Hi Brock 1
Ethylene (fruiting hormone) is what I used to turn Haze C male into a female. I remember plucking calyxes of the plant to smoke it for the first time. An enlightening experience.
GA3 is what I used to get "females" to produce pollen.

Re vortex bottles, I have the first one going clockwise and the lower one anti clockwise.

thanks for the quick reply nevel. i think you just helped make a hard job a lot easier now. i will be copying your clockwise first vertex with my bottles. thanks again you a super star mate.:)

Hello Neville! So glad to hear you are healthy, happy and safe. When I first heard you were back, I almost couldn't believe it. Putting the Haze Bros aside, I consider Sam, Shanti and yourself to be the top three breeders of all time. You all were/are key players in leading the way for the rest of us with your hard work and dedication to the plant.

Found an old article (originally posted at ic by Capt Crip) and thought I'd post it up here. I'm sure most of us have already read it, but I thought it was a good bit of history for those who may not have read it yet. SB/Admini, please delete/edit my post if this is against TOU or anything.

Once again, welcome back and I hope you can stay for a bit.

Nice article I never read that before, cant believe you nearly blew yourself up, that sounded pretty close mate.

Hey Neville,

Got a quick question for you and hope you have find time to respond...

I'm still catching up with whatever info I can find regarding your breeding methods, but is cannabis ruderalis still considered by you to be worthy of breeding with? I've read where ruderalis is low in thc content, so I would imagine you'd have to cross it with something that has rather high thc levels.

Thanks in advance.

HB

No questions from me, just THANK YOU. Life definitely would be a shittier place without you, I'd be honored to see some of your future work ;) Anyone who ripped of your genetics to make themselves a name will get what they have coming to them. Karma is a bitch, we all live, we all die. Your plant's genetics will live on!

Nevil,

SO glad to have you answering peoples questions here! hope your not feeling to overwhelmed...being as you mentioned not being very familiar with forums and such.

As asked earlier, I'd be interested in anything you have to say about Early Pearl and Pollyanna.

I'm part of a smaller forum comprised mostly of northern hemisphere outdoor growers, and we're all longing for the Pearl of old, or something similar. Early, large, potent, and rugged plants.

Being in the interior of the US and Canada many of us have short seasons with harsh conditions, unlike much of Europe at a similar latitude. Your creations, like Pearl and Beatrix's choice were godsends to us....

Thanks Much!

I mentioned something to Shanti in a PM a few days ago asking about Early Pearl - sure miss that flavor!

Early Pearl came from Rob Clark. He would be the best person to tell about its ancestry. I seem to recall that it was from Krazy Karol and Early girl or Polyanna and Early Girl. Krazy Karol was a Mexican, fairly early for a Mex. But a lot work has been done with it in the last 25 years. I had them flowering under 24 hours light.

Earlier this year shanti gifted me some early pearl seeds he had in a old fridg. I got a few to grow(11) and made some more, using the fastest male there was. The resulting seed batch I'm testing at 44N. They are in flower now and will be finished by the end of sept.. In your old catalog you had a finish date for them begining of sept. and the seeds that I had circa 1988-90 finished mid sept. It was always a favorite of us northern growers. Any idea why the finish times have lenghtened?

He is a partial pic of the outside grow of Early Pearl gifted from shanti... Who I just cant say enough about his kindness...thanks krk

They look great!! I wish I knew ya come fall! I don't grow outdoors since my health went bad - hoping next years more will allow me to do it on my property so I can do some stuff like that!

Did you make the seeds inside? If so, did they yield? I would love to run some if they do okay inside. I doubt they do ...

Fantastic looking ladies!! Congrats. Shanti has done very nice things for me as well, helped me a lot when I was very sick. He is quite a guy.

Autoflowering

But a lot work has been done with it in the last 25 years. I had them flowering under 24 hours light.

There seems to be a new market in autoflowering varieties. Some feel that autoflowering results in inferior quality plants and can taint the cannabis genepool. Others see it as a way to finish a crop of quality flowers from seed in about 2-2.5 months. What is your take on autoflowering varieties? Do you see it advancing or hindering future generations of seed production?

Origins of Afganica?

Salam Uncle,

Any thoughts on the origins of the afgani, paki and indian cultivars and your knowledge of which breeder first introduced them and worked with it the most to give us what is now considered Indica dominate strains...

I would love to hear your interpretation of it...

I have seen pictures of you in the 70s in Kabul with armed guards around you... any chance in cracking a few of those bad boys in the future?

The first plant I grew was a cut of what was called Afghani No.1. Maybe it is nostalgia for a me, but that was some of my favorite herb and I still cant find that feeling this day. Unadulterated hash smoke that was one of the fastest blooming plants I have had the honour of growing.

Love and respect,

Chana

Thank you for providing the clarity we all were looking for Neville, in both the seed and now on paper.

I am curious to your thoughts on bottlenecking. Seems we were all lucky for your discovery of the males. I was always under the impression that a large population was used.

When you parted ways with Sensi, did they have all the mothers and fathers to carry on? I bought there Mr. Nice variety, it had hermaphroditic males, who were sterile. Is there a possible double indica headbanger in the works brewing here? Ok too many questions, great to have you here N.

Bottlenecking? Can't really happen with Haze, all the good stuff came from two males in the form of hybrids.
Sensi? I don't know. When I left, I made sure that things were in good order, sure would have liked to have been paid for that last quarter though.

Ya here is a pic from them inside...:)

They look great! I did not expect them to do so well inside - can ya let us know how much light and space, CO2, soil or hydro, etc? You can PM me if ya think it is inappropriate to continue here.

I bet others wanna know though!

:D

Smokin on La Nina kif - everything kicks ass right now!! I love where this herb takes ya! I loooooooooooove me some Haze (bringin it back home). I can't wait until this shit is legal so I can send every single one of you my prized LN cut!

It will be sent C.O.D.

Neville, a junior member? Now that just doesn't seem right! Still, the amount of questions you're sure to be asked, you'll be doing a lot of posting..

Don't worry, no questions from me (I admit to being a little in awe, though - I'm still getting over Shantibaba being on here!) - still, I'm glad you seem well and on form.

I hope you stick around for a while but if not, good luck with things.

Grover
